It's somehow funny that I've read a part of this article with this atmospheric sounds/music called "Mind's Eye" in background..

I haven't watched Persona and Stalker yet, but I'll watch them soon for sure.
Thank you so much for the many recs especially the ones by Mizoguchi I've put in my ptw list.
Woman in the Dunes I wanted to watch too because it seems to be a great classic.
But yesterday I watched "The Mirror", my first Tarkovsky. And wow, this was an experience I could have never imagined. The reflection of life, of one's reality and dreams, of existence and identity, memories, the sadness and beauty that lies in between them, maybe even just a reflection of a relationship between mother and son, man and woman.
An experience that is rather a collection of feelings that everyone has to discover for themselves. A journey through intimate feelings of which some I've felt while watching Sans Soleil, All About Lily Chou-Chou and Eureka. And now I know why it's one of your fav. movies.
The next movies I want to try are Persona, Stalker and jap. ones of the 50's, Tokyo Story by Ozu and Twenty-Four Eyes.
It was a bit surprising since it was a lot more comprehensible than Stalker and Mirror but was also more mindblowing. I still see it as a Tarkovsky film but this time, with balance between emotion and intellect. I loved how they showed how limited our understanding of things outside earth really is. It really made me feel like a monkey who works on instincts with a bit of common sense . It also feels like Tarkovsky's answer to 2001 a space odyssey because there, we have a story of humanity's path of evolution through the guidance of monolith but here Tarkovsky's like: "You don't know shit about universe you monkey", shown through the mysterious Solaris ocean. Is it good? Is it evil? Why does it exist? Why is it spawning all those "people" that are in some way related to our characters or anyone who descends to it's surface? Can't say that i fully understood everything but i don't think i'll have trouble after a rewatch or two. Anyway it was awesome.
Dialogue is rare but the drawings themselves contribute a lot to the main narrative. It's a must read.
The scene with burning house is the best scene i've seen in any type of visual storytelling media.
