I tend to rate on enjoyment mixed with how much I critically appreciate the show. I also tend to really like most things I watch, leading to high ratings. I consider 8 and above great, and it's honestly more like 10->11->12 than 8->9->10. I like everything from dark to colorful, from seinen to slice of life. I can enjoy the masterful writing and disturbing story elements in certain shows, as well as the happy go lucky feel or balling your eyes out that comes with some simpler romance shows. There's different reasons for things to be 'good', and I love all my children equally.
