First of all, when I rate the anime I watch, I never give it a 10 no matter how great it is, nor a 1 no matter how shit it is. Why I never give 10/10.
10/10 Anime don't exist, there are some that are close but none of them deserve a 10. Why? Because if an anime is 10/10 then there is virtually nothing wrong with it, a masterpiece with nothing left to improve on. I believe there is always something to improve on, if we give out 10/10 for any "masterpiece" anime then that's the limit, that's the bar we've set for what great anime is. Therefore the highest i'll ever give an anime is 9/10, it shows that I absolutely loved watching it in one way or another but it still has something to improve on.
Why I never give 1/10 & hate those who do so.
Look, lets be real, there are some pretty shite anime out there, not naming names but there are. However I do not ever give any anime I watch a rating of 1/10, maybe its sympathy or just that i'm not as critical. I watch anime for entertainment, for action, sometimes a bit of romance(except yaoi), dark themes, or just plain stupidity that's enjoyable. Like how there will never be an anime that's 10/10, there should never be an anime that's 1/10 because it means everyone involved did a terrible job in the creation of the anime. Usually if a show tanks, its because of the producer or director, that means the people working under them, could only follow and submit to their orders, nothing they could really do I assume. For me, if I give an anime is 1/10, then its like i'm disrespecting the time and effort for those who actually tried to make something.
There are a few and to some many anime out there that deserve this rating, but I have to disagree. Especially to those who watch 1 episode, then drop it with a 1/10. Like good god, is it really that bad, but hey everyone's got their own opinions. Even then, the reviews I read for 1/10 ratings, seems like they are trying to describe why every single frame of the anime is crap.
How I rate Anime
9 - If I give an anime this rating, it means I absolutely loved it, had a profound impact on me, and made me think about what a great anime should be.
I would absolutely recommend shows here.
8 - Typically given for shows that I think are either great or amazing. Typically has 1 reason from the above rating. Since MAL doesn't support ratings with decimals i.e. 8.5, shows I rate in this category aren't all equal like how both One Punch Man and Drifters is an 8 but I view OPM as the better show.
I would recommend most shows here.
7 - By far the most common rating I give any anime that I think was decent and for the most part enjoyable to watch. Anime in this rating also vary greatly from decent to pretty good.
Would only recommend shows here to someone if I know they might be interested in it or its genre.
6 - Similar reason to 7 but I typically find these shows somewhat bland or uninteresting after a certain point, and find only one or two things enjoyable about the show. Not bad but certainly not great, typically given to shows that are 7 but ended in a unfulfilling, bland, or mediocre way.
Wouldn't recommend shows with this rating nor would I tell people off for watching these.
And what next, Morgana sharing the same VA as with Pikachu from Pokemon, not to mention Ryuji and Anne apparently sharing their respective VAs as with Tusk and Angelise from Cross Ange????
