------ SPOILER FREE REVIEW (at least not beyond the first ep) -----
My first completed anime ever on a subject that I totally don’t care. Well not the case anymore, I guess.
Runway de Waratte, Smile down the Runway or That Time Kamado Tanjiro got reincarnated as a Fashion Designer was a blessing to have this season.
To you that may have already seen it, I hope my review will do justice to your feelings towards this anime and for those who are hesitating or just don’t want to watch this “weird, cringe, girly, wtf is fashion design” show, I will try my best to convince you
to at least TRY to get in the hype-feel train that is this beautiful piece of Japanese animation.
When you see the “shounen” tag for this anime you might think : “where the f is the link between fashion mode and shounen” but BOY are you not THRILLED when Ikuto starts to sew, stitch, broach, and think of the cloth-design using probably 150% brain capacity with the hyped background music that make you moves forward to the edge of your seat.
Seriously, it gave me similar vibes as some of the best shounen out there. Mark my words: you just CANNOT stop yourself after seeing the end some early episode.
The cliff-hangers are super well-done, once you’re in it, you are in until the end my friend.
Runway de Waratte is so much more than a simple story that follows the everyday lives of a fashion designer and a model.
It’s a story about fighting against your own destiny, fulfilling your most desired dreams against all odds, overcome the obstacles, going beyond your limits, PLUS ULTRAA as the folks at UA would say.
This anime depicts perfectly the concept of getting back up when you are punched deep down into the ground.
Furthermore, the story is full of twists and turns that you won’t expect so easily, trust me. The whole thematic of fashion design is so well approached. You can feel that extensive researches have been made.
With this anime that opened the eyes of the spectator on an unknown world (at least for most of us), can someone dare to say that the fashion world isn’t interesting once you know what it’s made of.
The two main characters Chiyuki Fukito and Ikuto Tsumura. Such a great duo. Both with amazing talents but hindered by one big problem. For one it’s her chibby-like height, and for the other it’s the poverty of his family. Two things that are nearly impossible to change.
Both are such strong characters. Ikuto whose mother is in hospital must take care of his three sisters as the sole and only man in the house while Chiyuki, despite getting permanently reminded of her weaknesses, repeatedly told that she will NEVER accomplish her dreams, even through the betrayal of her OWN father; they will keep fighting for what they aspire. Every. Fucking. Day. There is not a single one that goes by without them thinking how they will realise their dream and working on to do so.
The animations are great. It’s beautiful. The whole process of making clothes plus the clothes themselves are so well-animated. It feels real. You almost want to touch the thing just to see how the fabric feels like.
Besides, the faces of the cast show so much emotions during all the steps of their journey. Their tremendous struggles, their saddest moments, and eventually their joyful and happy times. It’s just a delight to watch.
Moreover, the expressions of Chiyuki are GOLD, it’s impressive how they designed her character. Such a pretty figure that can do so much funny faces, props to Ezolà Studios (Happy Sugar Life, Sounan Desu ka). Their third anime is a banger.
Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, you laugh and you cry throughout the adventures of our beloved characters as they thrive to succeed at all costs.
At the end of the day, knowing how much suffering they have been through, all the work they’ve done, finally seeing them put on the purest smile you’ve witnessed as the drops of sweat runs down their forehead and cheeks is more than priceless.
The opening and the ending. Just go listen to them. I don’t know what to tell at this point. They are perfect for this anime. The opening song is catchy and hype and the whole background describes perfectly the pace and the vibe of this show.
The ending song is chill and emotional, just as it should be. When the episode was deep and touching, it extends and accentuates the emotional vibe you get for 1min30 longer. And, man, what a great way to wrap up 22min of something that seemed to be only 5 minutes.
If you didn’t understand yet, Runway de Waratte is a must-watch for this season. I enjoyed it so much, it pained me that it was only twelve episodes. But that’s what made the show good, short time to delivers all the story and feels so not a minute is wasted on useless things.
Well I should conclude this review. I hope that I made it interesting to read.
Now for the last words of this essay, even if I don’t know you, If I perhaps couldn’t even imagine the pain or challenges you are going through, gone through or will go through, I just hope dear readers that, like Chiyuki smiled down the runway with her brightest smile, you will also Smile Down the Runway of your life 😊

----SPOILER FREE REVIEW----
A T-rex professor, a homo girafe, an exhibitionist mole-rat, a hermaphrodite hyena, an unbreakable badger, a star panda, an ever-dying sloth and a pero-pero obsessed cute loli wolf. That’s just a little part of the mess that you can find in this hilarious and smooth anime.
Murenase! Seton Gakuen or Seton Academy: Join the pack! has finally finished airing and damn, it was a blast all along.
If you think that’s an uninteresting furry anime, you are missing something big time. Throughout my review I hope you will see this anime in a clearer light which is absolutely well-deserved.
First a quick resume: Seton ... Gakuen is a slice of life, comedy, school anime. Classic. Except there are only 2 humans in the entire school. Yes, all the other students are animals in the true sense of the word.
The story follows Jin Mazama, our lonely human, as he enrolls into Seton Gakuen as a sophomore. Jin despite all animals (quite the height if you ask me), so what is his surprise when he encounters Hitomi Hino the beautiful second human-girl in the school. As his desires and dreams keep getting wilder, he stumbled across the path of a little pink ball of furry. That’s Ookami Ranka, our cute loli wolf whose dream is to build her own pack…starting with Jin!
Now, let’s break out the different aspects:
The story itself is quite simple as most of the comedy/school anime. While the story is simple, the show stays quite entertaining because once in a while, when a new animal is introduced or do their “specific animal things”, the narrator explains the “Did you know…?” in a funny way with instructive chibby drawings. Still good to take that general knowledge while laughing and be like “Wtf…?” ^^’ You will have some good anecdote to tell your friends who wouldn’t have known that their friend is an animal expert.
Not much left to say about the story but you do have quite some surprises along the anime that you wouldn’t have think of. – 8/10
The characters design is quite simple for the animals, but they hit right on the spot. If you have followed your biology courses in school and watched 1 or 2 animal documentary you should be able to recognize most of the species shown (“And what if I watched Interspecies reviewers?” -Keep your mouth shut, pervert)
Frequently it’s just the head and the body design in the uniform that are representative of the animal. From time to time it’s a human figure but with an animal part (ears or tail for example) and occasionally the whole body is shown.
All the cast is well written, they are faithful to their specific and respective animals’ characteristics, so it brings many elements of humor throughout the show. – 8/10
Now that’s the point I want to bring up. Seton Gakuen’s animation is clean af. The backgrounds are okay but what strikes the most is the details and the diversity of the animations of the cast. Just go take a glimpse at the opening to give you an idea. Did you ever see a more animated opening? Just be careful if you are epileptic. At first look, it seems like a giant mess (which is quite right to depict the f big zoo that is Seton’s school) but once you look closer you can see all the little things that proves that some work had been put into it. A lot of work.
The movements are fluid and it’s simply great. The faces of the member of the casts are very expressive and can display a wide range of emotions. Studio Gokami which has done anime such as Tsurezure Children and Kiniro Mosaic did a great job for this anime.
One thing I also want to point out is the fan-service. Maaaan there is little fan-service in this anime, but it’s done damn good. Trust me when I say that soon enough there will be Hitomi doujinshis popping out faster than the coronavirus cases.
The opening song is very catchy, that’s what you expect for this type of show and it’s done good! Meanwhile the ending song is a little troll (ever wondered what a crying wolf sound like?).
The VA are on-point, they really fit their character. Sometimes they try to make their own animal noises which is really funny to listen. (Watch the previews!) – 9/10
Overall, I loved Seton Gakuen. Watching it with my friends got us bursts of laughter and we just simply had a really great time. – 10/10
To conclude, Seton Gakuen is breath of fresh air in the comedy type of anime. If you wanna have a fun time watching a short (but educational!) comedy filled with joy, love and drool from Ranka-Chan, why not grab your confinement kit and simply Join the Pack!!
Thanks for reading!

Disclaimer : I didn’t watch the first fruits basket anime and neither did I read the manga. So this review will be purely on Fruits Basket (2019). Second review ever and French reviewer, sorry if bad english, gambarimasu.
I’ll go through each point that made me love this anime that didn’t please me as much in the beginning. Firstly, let me tell you that this anime is perfect for shoujo lovers, BUT I’ll try throughout my review to interest the people who skip this only because it’s categorized as a shoujo.
Fruits basket is a simple shoujo story as we could have seen at first sight. Our ... main girl, Tohru Honda helps certain people affected by a curse that makes them transform temporarily into a cute animal of the zodiac when they hug someone of the opposite sex. What is the big deal you would say?
Yeah doesn’t mean much as a problem for me also when I started this anime. The beginning is what you expect from a typical shoujo show. A cute and simple girl flirting with handsome males that makes jealous others random female students at school. And she starts to live with them from the very first episode! In the first episodes, you could find that all is going well without any strong pressure and you will probably think: “Ah, another shoujo/slice of life anime without interest”.
You could’ve never been so wrong.
As the anime and the story advances, you will discover a very dark and mysterious story behind all the characters, and it doesn’t limit at the mains ones! That’s one of the strongest point of Fruits Basket (2019), the characters are really well written. Theirs backstory are roughs, deeps, unpleasant, frightening but also sometimes happy and they made them as they are today. All their interactions with the other members of the cast are coherent and really well thought taking into account their own experiences, traumas, etc… even if the spectator doesn’t know them yet.
From a certain point in the anime, the mysteries about the past lives of some characters start to be revealed. And it’s done in a magnificent way. Trust me when I say you will need more tissues than you usual jerking week routine. More seriously, the way this anime conveys the feeling is incredible and is on par with Violet Evergarden as an example. Those few episodes really hit the spectator because for some characters, all the pressure built during the anime releases suddenly as a flow of beautiful flashbacks, hidden memories and sickening past situations that explain a lot about how they are behaving today. Even for the characters that were not hinted to have a dark past, we do get some breathtaking moments that will stay on your mind for a while after.
I also must highlight that Tohru is one of the strongest characters I’ve seen in this genre of anime. Being able to put on the truest smile you’ve seen and being constantly a flurry ball of cheerfulness for everybody she met while staying reasonably true is something truly admirable if we consider what she has been through.
Enough about the characters, the music/sound in Fruits Baskets (2019) serves perfectly its role. Accentuating the emotional moments when it should and give a relaxing tone when the story goes on. And God I love the endings, they did a really good job, the songs are very emotional and remind us at the end of every episode the feels that went through during the last 24-min (If you saw episode 24, you know how powerful it can be haha). Moreover, they are meaningful both in their lyrics and in their visual.
F-yeah we could do a complete review on the second opening about how Tohru is giving hope and peace for all the characters as we see the cast bring down their umbrellas one by one while the rain stops and the luminous sunrays lightens up their faces.
For a remake, the animation of Fruits Basket (2019) is so worth it. Not much to say about it, it’s just beautiful. The sceneries are great, the movements are fluid and the expressions on the characters faces really feel authentic and is giving a lot to the spectator.
Overall Fruits Basket (2019) is close to a masterpiece of its genre. A story of love, friendship but mainly a story about life itself. The hard times that we all had once at least can be found and reflected in this anime. Thus, the spectator can easily relate to the various tragic event and it’s so well done that even if he didn’t encounter them in his life, they will still get through him. As Tohru brings peace and joy to the people she loves, Fruits Basket (2019) brings us tears of understanding and a very strong feeling of compassion that makes us want to take into our arms every single character of the show (and it’s not because we only want to pet them after!).
If you loves shoujo or you seek anime like Violet Evergarden with strong emotional moments with beautiful music and smooth animations, you should 100% go for it RIGHT NOW.
And if you are not particularly interested by shoujo nor slice of life anime, why not give it a try? You might be surprised by how moving an anime about simple things in life can be!

"This is my room, no doubt about it, this is my room. So why?... Why the hell are you here, sensei?!!"
It's along those lines that you will start every episode of Nande Koko Ni Sensei ga?! seeing our main character Ichirou Satou meeting Kojima Kana the sexiest teacher you could think of, in several unexpected places. These introduction scenes are followed by absurd situations where the sole purpose of the author is to get Kojima denuded in the fastest way possible as well as getting physical contact with our MC.
Well, it sounds like another ... one of those thrashy, bad animated shows where there is absolutely 0 plot except two giant milk-balls bouncing around as if gravity wasn't a thing.
BUT, it is here that Nande koko ni Sensei ga?! surprises you.
The art is simply as stunning as the size of Kojima’s boobs. No seriously, for only its 3rd anime, Tear-Studio has done a really great job. Not one animation is off. It’s just a real pleasure to watch this in 1080p. It really differs from the others shows of its genre because of it, the first episode will give you a good glimpse of what I’m talking about. And it’s keeping its consistency every episode.
Unlike others, the story of Nande Koko Ni Sensei ga?! is a fair one. Not as light as the majority of ecchi shows that are out there. It seems it can have some development since the characters are somewhat related by some events that occurred in their respective pasts. We will have to keep an eye on that later on even if it’s not the main strength of the show and not even its purpose.
The episodes are 12 minutes lengths which is enough for this type of show, it’s 12 minutes of pure comedy and fan service, not a minute is wasted talking about useless things. Therefore, the anime is really enjoyable to watch, especially with friends, you would laugh your ass off seeing and reacting together at the WTF scenes which Japan has accustomed us to. But this time with beautiful and breathtaking animations.
Overall, I think Nande Koko Ni Sensei ga?! stands out above all shorts ecchi shows being one of the best animated series in this genre I’ve seen and with an existent storyline at least for now.
As a conclusion of my FIRST review ever, Nande Koko Ni Sensei ga?! can be considered as a guilty pleasure that you will have a ton of funs watching it solo or with friends without the cringe aspect of all the bad animated ecchi shows that are overcrowding the anime sphere. So you should definitely check it out! (be sure to have no one unfamiliar with anime behind you while doing so.)
