Oh, forgot to say my impression on Re:Zero!
It was...okay. The only thing that I really liked is Rem. I think that character was the only good thing about it, to be honest. I hate it that now-a-days all these new animes with any gore in them get higher ratings than they deserve. :/
Oh well. At least I got it off of my list!
That's alright. :) I watched a lot of shounen ai and yaoi, as well. I'm surprised Yuri!! On Ice wasn't tagged as shounen ai on MAL. At least not yet..
Yeah, I can see what you mean by Re:Zero getting weirder by the episode. xD I hope it will end up being a good watch!
Good luck with your finals! Don't slack too much. ;)
Started watching Re:Zero, so we'll see how I like it. Seems harmless after the first episode. :P
Utena is definitely not like Fruits Basket, although there is a lot of repetition in scenes, but for a reason. You will see what I mean when you start watching it.
I don't usually like to start long series, because I easily lose interest in things I watch (just like you said you do), and I don't really like dropping stuff. Also, I think you mistook shoujo ai for shounen ai. Shounen ai = boys love. Shoujo ai = girls love. :3
Now you got me really interested in the Re:Zero. Downloading it so it's one of the first things I'll watch (if I don't have it on my HDD, I'll likely forget about it). xD Also getting the Shigatsu thingy, since it looks lovely. I enjoy music anime, even though I haven't really seen many. I don't mind sad stories. The more I cry, the better! The recommendations look really promising. I am looking forward to watching them.
As far as Shoujo Kakumei Utena goes, it does have romance. Not very clean-cut romance, but romance none-the-less. It's more about a girl finding herself and her place in the world. Hits you right in the feels.
Fruits Basket can be a bit monotone at times, I will agree. It's more of a feel good, lay-down-and-don't-think-much kind of an anime.
As far as pther romance goes, I could recommend a bunch of shoujo ai stuff, since I watch it a lot, but that is not for everyone. :P
I always recommend Shoujo Kakumei Utena to everyone, because it's my favorite anime of all times. So, if the number of episodes isn't off-putting for you, that is always a very good option. :) It's pretty heavy to watch, so you might want to mentally and emotionally prepare yourself for some drama, but if you don't have an issue with that, that is my first recommendation.
Also, Fruits Basket. I see you watched some of it, I really loved that one.
Can't really think of much else from the genre, right now, as I just woke up and my brain is still half asleep. xD But I will make sure to think of some more good ones for you a bit later!
I enjoy romance anime as well. Aside from that, I mostly watch some darker things. Dramas, psychological, mystery.. :3
Also~! If you would like to get some recommendations, there is a really nice club I joined recently. They have a monthly recommendation thread. Every month, if you sign up, you are paired up with a person and based off of your list and what you like to watch, they recommend you a couple of titles to watch. You don't have to watch any of the things they recommend. There is no penalty or anything. But you get a nice recommendation and make friends on the way. If you're interested - Monthly Anime Club.

What kind of anime do you enjoy watching?
Well, I am always looking for people to talk to. :)
Where did you find me, new friend? :3
