cringe showing, which are caused by the tryhard to make something "special". I honestly mean it when I say that there is nothing good about it. Of course you will find teens that will dig it, because who doesn't want to get out of this boring life and slay some beasts in a world full of magic, right? But this is objectively subpar and plain out bad anime and it's a disgrace that it ranks as high as 29# best on this site. Again though, these are just my opinions feel free to disagree and feel free to ask me if you'd want me to give you more on why I hate this thing so much or just give me some hate if you wish to. Anyway, I'll just leave up my rant from after watching 18th episode, which is super bad by the way. It just consists of two main characters talking whole episodes literally about the exact same thin using the exact same points over and over. So yeah, enjoy the rant if you will, don't watch Re:zero if you want to avoid nightmares and over the top brain decay and if you do watch it anyway: get over your hype and look at it with a sober eye. peace
Do you guys remember SAO? The hype about it, the anticipation of something beyond satisfying? Back then, after seeing first few episodes, there were two groups of people. One that was still hyped(man I was one of them) and the second that saw how bad it was. Those hating on it, saying it is shit and so on, those were minority and were told that they are the ones stupid. Plot twist though. Their numbers were growing with each episode. Why? Because it got bad beyond the overlook line. Guess what now. I am living a madafakin deja vu. It is the same story with Re:zero all over again. First few episodes show great potential, but it escalates so quickly to rock bottom, shoving itself even under the kind of masterpiece that God Eater is, securing it's place down there for all times(at least I hope they won't come up with worse piece of "art"). Now I was not planning on reviewing this mistake before it finished airing, but after seeing episode 18 I am convinced. This is officially the worst of the worst, the biggest load of crap, the very reason why anime still get hate and it simply can't get any worse and after this episode any better either.
PS: Look at the marks of reviews. It's all fancy 10 and 9 in April and May, starting to get 3 and 4 in June. Figure the trend :)
Story: The anime suffers from trying to have one.
Dude finds himself in a different world, witch knows why and immediately falls in love with this chick. In terms of few episodes we get to know how dumb he is and then we see him suffer a mental breakdown, upon a mental breakdown, upon a guess what. This all told via good old eleven minutes long dialogs. superb
Art: OK
Generally the only think about this i can give some love. It looks pretty good at least.
Sound: Having none would be +
Soundtrack? At the beginning I was disappointed that the story was not enhanced by real catchy tune. Then i wanted them to stop when they tried. Also do you like to watch anime before going to bed? You will enjoy the voice acting if you do, for there is no change of voice besides when Subaru screaming. And even that is monotonous.
Character: uncontainable
How is it possible not including this to series where there are actually living beings I don't know. I think that I am injust on that one, because giving a person no real character and keeping it up until 18th episode takes mad talent.
Enjoyment: Hate
I hate myself for still watching it. It just gets me thrilled a little seeing it getting worse and worse. At end of every episode i think it can't get worse but hey! Guys making this are good at their job!
Overall:
Worst. Anime. Ever. Made. By a long shot. Also a great example why you shouldn't let the hype cloud your judgement. Don't even try to watch it, not even for sake of experimentation, you will 100% regret it.

Anyone giving this more than 3: is a pussy; has a pussy; is 14yo or under; is watching it as his first anime(would never watch anime again if this was my first, personally); is retarded;is blind or deaf or both.

First of all I want to state that I absolutely adore this anime. I find it super fun and super entertaining. It's overall structure just perfectly fits my liking. Then I've been reading a lot of negative reviews on Shokugeki and I have to admit that they are mostly correct about what they state, in my opinion. It doesn't change my view on this anime though, but I encourage you to go read some low rating review to get the bigger picture.

So what do we have here? Some zombies, some hot chicks and some badass, to save the world determined dude, who is coincidentally very special. Sounds familiar doesn't it? To summer it up real quick: this anime is your everyday action with pretty lollies, baddas MC, great flashy fight scenes and overall a lot of prettiness. Story is accordingly simple and shaped way so it can show off the animation(it occasionally doesn't bother to make sense).

Do you know the kind of anime that leaves you with heavy heart and mind full of questions and wondering? That is exactly Byousoku 5 Centimeter.

There are very bad anime, like God Eater, which has nothing to offer. Then there are bad anime. Like Tokyo Ghoul, where you at least get all the stereotype you can. We also have "meh" anime: Rokka no Yuusha, which at least tries to make the plot interesting. I am gonna be honest with you. This anime is not good. Man it's bad in every aspect of it. But still it is one of my favorites. Why? I see Mahouka as a one huge preview that is supposed to get you pumped for the anime to come and that's where it shines. It just presents you with a plot, tells you all the basic stuff you'd want to know about the anime before watching it and then it's just done.
