Because rating art with the use of numeric values fails to accurately convey the same idea to everyone, I feel it is necessary to elaborate what my scores mean.
10: Virtually perfect. This is a work that I believe would be worsened by adding or removing any element. Almost impossible to achieve.
9: An amazing piece of art that is consistently engaging on multiple levels. May have a few minor issues, but nothing that greatly subtracted from my enjoyment of it.
8: An all-around worthwhile experience that excels in most respects, but may falter in one or two areas.
7: Consistently good. Has a number of noticeable flaws, but also enough good aspects to outweigh the bad ones. The lowest score that warrants a universal recommendation.
-UNIVERSAL RECOMMENDATION CUTOFF-
6: Contains many flaws, but also a few good aspects that may be overshadowed by the negative ones. A passable work if one is especially fond of its genre, setting or premise.
5: Mediocre in most, if not all facets. May have one or two good qualities that are unfortunately dominated by everything else. These works are usually the most bland.
4: Fails to be engaging on any level. Usually lacks any real redeemable qualities.
3: Possesses qualities that aren't just mediocre, but outright bad. Nothing of any value to be found.
2: An embarrassment. This work is boring, and possibly even painful to watch. Many of the work's elements lack cohesion and most likely originality as well.
1: A disgrace. All of the work's elements are uninspired, misguided, and actively in conflict with each other. So bad that it is almost as if the creators tried to fail.
