You shouldn't watch an anime by it's score, but just watching and see if you like it. Don't let others control what you want to watch, but let yourself choose it. Everyone has their own preferences to what anime they like, so don't get frustrated when others dislike them.

Yes some anime might have terrible story and wasted your time, but it makes you appreciate works that you might not have known you would even like it.

Take the time to explore - Anime is like the world, There are good and bad ones, sometimes it just takes the good things to appreciate the bad ones and vice versa.
