The first half might seem a bit slow and boring because the dogs don't talk yet at that point and the humans and their fear of bears is the big focus as well as Gin's training, but the second half becomes much more interesting when the dogs start talking and they start recruiting more dogs to fight Akakabuto the bear and there's no shortage of it drama and action! Soundtrack is also one of the bests and it started my love towards 80s anime, there's so much bangers! Although, it's a bit of a shame that the anime is only 21 episodes long because they didn't adapt the wolf arc in the manga due to its lack of success. But after it you can watch sequel, Ginga Densetsu Weed, which tells about Gin's son called, well, Weed (yeah, we fans also joke about it xD). It's much newer, but it's very great too, even tho many fans don't really like it. It's maybe bit similar for GNG like Omega is for the original Saint Seiya that it shares lot of opinions, but I growed up with it too. My profile pic for example is one of the coolest characters of GDW! But be aware, some English subs of GNG are very bad but at least in 9anime there was fine subs without so much weird things (just Gin's name is translated literally as "Silver" for some reason).

Both series are about young fighters who had to experience hard training already as kid (Seiya, Gin), and one of the important characters is an equally epic and wise badass like Shiryu, they both even sacrifice their own sense of sight to save their friends (however in different way)! Characters of the both series also believe in the same good things like justice and friendship, and fight for them.

Also, Toei Animation made both series in the same year, Saint Seiya actually came almost right after GNG, so they are even visually very similar and both have a lot of the familiar seiyuus.

That's awesome! Here where I live, in Finland, it isn't unfortunately very well known because it was never released here, but I noticed you put Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin to your plan to watch list and it's basically "our Saint Seiya", because it's similarly popular here like Saint Seiya is in Latin America and it's so much like Saint Seiya with dogs! I growed up watching it and when I started to watch Saint Seiya, I had some "fake nostalgia" about it as I noticed so many similar things from it like from GNG. This surely sounds weird, but yeah, I'm so obsessed with both series xD I'm so interested how do you will like it.
