This anime has everything. Action, love, adventure, and is sort of sus in the most beautiful way. It has a great balance of lightness and darkness and everything you could want in an anime.

Character development is really good, and stays decently innocent with some fun adult twists throughout. Personally I live for the addition of hisokaaaaaaa! (but he is me irl, what can I say)

The story is well thought out and is completed from start to finish. However, by the end of it you are still left wanting more and hoping for a spin off! It is an instant classic, on level with shows ... like Bleach or OneP.

The perfect shonen DOES exist. We all love bleach. It is a well thought out plot, great character development, and is whole and complete. You will almost never feel like you are bored or that an episode is there for "fluff". It has a little bit of everything for everyone.

To me this series exemplifies the perfect shonen: it is male-centered, action dense, has great plot and character development, has some dark themes added in , but really overall maintains this sort of innocence theme of bettering yourself for the future. It can be silly at times and serious at others. It ends on a positive ... note and leaves you feeling that youthful tingly happiness.

This has really great animation overall. It is a classic shonen style with a modern twist that isn't too modern or odd so it feels really comfortable to watch. Art style, sounds, phrasing, and all that follows tradition but also has been updated and maybe centered a little more around a western perspective. The storyline is complex and keeps you engaged. Character development is on point, and a lot of effort is put into really giving side characters whole personalities. There is a really nice blend of themes here but overall sticks to the action/dark theme which is one of my faves so it is ... a great watch.

EDIT: Ok the new series is not finished yet but I really had to jot this down - boy oh boy is is getting dark in here!!!! AOT started on dark notes, don't get me wrong, but still did a good job of maintaining the balance, innocence, and sort of hopefulness that shonen calls for. As the storyline has matured, it has developed into this deeply devastating experience with innocent moments sprinkled in for added flavor. It almost feels like watching a young kid's trauma turn into an adult's untreated mental illness lmao. If they end the series this twisted, this show may skyrocket to my top three list.

Good for a vampire theme. I love dark themed anime, it really is the best genre. That being said, vampire themes can be really played out or straight up the same story over & over, to make it sort of boring. The same can be said of shojo.

This particular plot blended together a traditional high school shojo with a vampire story line (think better version of twilight). It was interesting/different enough take that it keeps you engaged and still retained the dark/sexy vibe but in a more innocent way.

Overall I wish it had more action and a little more sinister storyline but it ... is an enjoyable watch.

I love the animation style and the visuals on this series. It is really detailed and polished without being overbearing, which curates the level of elegance that this series demands.

It is a very interesting story that is somehow both engaging and endearing in a twisted way. Personally I am partial to victorian themes, and this series does an amazing job of executing that without being played out. You would expect the twist on a series like this to be vampire related but instead it's something much more sinister. Ciel is sort of like batman, except he needs an exorcist and a therapist.

Every now ... and then the episodes had content that deviated from the plot which can either be a negative or positive depending on how you view it. For me it was a positive that kept me engaged. It is also frustrating that no streaming service has the entire series so you sort of have to chase it down.

Extremely dark but somehow still really sweet!

This series starts out so light and immediately goes to one of the darkest places imaginable. It is about as brutal as it can get while still being viewable mainstream. The plot is really well done, and keeps you guessing as it progresses.

The ending was sort of stereotypical though, which is why I gave it 9 instead of 10 stars - I would have loved for it to end on a dark/twisted note instead of a light and predictable one. But maybe that's a personal character flaw I should sort out. The ending seemed like a flop ... to me overall, even if it did end on a light note I think it could have been done better. This does not detract from the greatness of the show, just stops it from being an all-time great.

Overall a really great show!

Too repetitive for my taste. I give this a 7.5 mainly for the fact that is is SO REPETITIVE. There are instances where the audience needs to be reminded of some plot point or small detail, of course. However, in this case, they would recycle the exact same content and scenes over and over. I had to skip over several entire episodes and many large chunks of episodes from boredom. This show would only be about half as long if you cut out all the repetition.

That aside, it was a well-animated story with good plot points and characters. It is modeled like a traditional ... shonen, which makes it very nostalgic. There were some fun modern references thrown in there, like salt bae, which shook it up a little bit. It's definitely worth watching but will be a bit tired at times.

This is one of those epic shonen masterpieces that is understandably at the top. It is necessary to watch this, if you're into anime. It falls in line with other great works like Naruto, Bleach, HxH, and so on.

Great visuals and characters arcs, you'll almost never be bored.

It is LONG, do not get me wrong, but it has a lot of mini stories that you can go back and enjoy in snippets if you want. Personally I have seen the entire series at least twice over, so don't let the length scare you. It is worth the watch.

Brilliantly put together nonsense.

This has everything, except a well developed plot. The visuals were stunning, the use of technology and futurism was really cool, and I loved the korean themes.

The storyline seemed like it could be really awesome, but it just wasn't there. I felt like I was having a seizure sometimes because scenes would skip all around with almost no semblance of being tied together. I even had to watch the first episode three times before I could continue on with the series because I thought I was having a personal problem & was super confused, until I realized that was the intended ... cadence.

Simply put, they tried to take too much content and shove it into a short time frame which was really damaging to what could have been a beautifully made anime.
