It's from Serial Experiments Lain, it's a really interesting show that you need to put your full attention on :p The character is Lain. Hope you enjoy it :)

I'm not wanting to look into it in too much detail as I don't want to spoil the end of the Alicization arc for myself, which is always a risk when looking into volumes several ahead of what you've read in a series. Sorry if I'm not much help as a result.

I'm not entirely sure. All I really know is that:
- It's set in the same world as the Alicization arc
- It builds on events in the final volume of the Alicization arc

Hi - yeah I'm still around once in a while. But for the most part I've been observing more than commenting.

No prob, though dont get me wrong fafner dead aggressor is good, it just has a rough start, i started really enjoying it about 6 episodes in or so with the 2nd half having some genuinly great moments, its not bad from the start just kind of poorly explained. The show has some super unique concepts and its just not until the 2nd half that the show begins to treat itself as an ensemble cast. One of the most interesting things fafner dead aggressor does is how the mechs themselves are massive double edged swords that slowly kill and deform the pilots which leads to a duel danger in the action scenes, it leads to some of the most intense confrontations in anime for me cause the series isnt afraid to kill off characters and always has some sort of risk in pretty much every episode. its really reliant on life and death drama and how the families of all the pilots handle their children's lives being in danger (ranging from protective to outright abusive). If dead aggressor got a remake with alot of polish it could be a solid 9/10 story.

yeah unfortunately this barrier is why exodus is so criminally unknown, the shitty thing is dead aggressor could turn people off entirely but i think its really worth it to go into exodus as long as you dont outright hate dead aggressor cause the quality gap is insane.

exodus is a really unique series in how it really pays tribute to the time that passes over the course of the franchise and you follow the characters from when they are 13/14 all the way into their adult life by the time exodus happens.

again i highly recommend watching right of left first, its flawed and id recommend you more judging the themes and general concepts of the world more so than the isolated story itself to see if this is really right for you. Right of left as well as dead aggressor are essentially remade in exodus but actually pull off the potential thats kind of wasted in those initial releases.

keep in mind if you want to watch fafner you cant jump straight into exodus, its a sequel that wraps up an entire franchise that requires you to see the entires before it.

which is pretty heavily flawed due to a poor director who leaves the prject halfway through, the 2nd half is a major improvement overall and despite its shortcomming i found it to be a solid mecha

that chronologically predates the whole franchise thats pretty standalone and worth a watch first to see if the series is right for you, unfortunately its too short for its own good and desperately needed an extra 30 minutes or so but i think it still works and sets the tone for the franchise.
