Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou focuses on Goura Daisuke, who loves literature. However, because of his childhood trauma, he cannot read more than a few sentences. Goura needs to find a person that knows almost everything about books, because there is something he needs to do. Because of that, he meets Shioriko Shinokawa, who is the owner of an antiquarian bookshop. Shioriko is very shy and it is troublesome for her to converse with people. However, everything changes, when it comes to books-- something, she cannot live without.
One day, Shioriko helps Goura and that becomes the reason for him to get attracted to Shioriko.
...
Maybe the reason for that is her calm and shy personality, maybe it is because of the fact that she knows so much about something, he has never had a possibility to learn about. You will find your own answer on this question. And so, Shioriko hires Goura to unravel the secrets and mysteries of antiquarian books.
Of course, there is a grain of romance involved and the character interactions are the two reasons why this novel is so enjoyable to read. Indeed, this novel is a gem for those who cannot live without books and reading. Even the drama is never forced, which happens in most of the series. Unfortunately, as the novel progresses, more and more flaws are to see, as well as the character development leaves much to be desired. Thankfully, the last volume solves that problem and draws the end to the story.
With that being said, I am not sure if it is my bad Japanese, or the fact that the story has an amazing start, which later suffers a number of flaws because of the characters, but later gets rid of most of the flaws, or something else. But one thing is for sure, I am going to reread the novel, when my Japanese becomes better, or when I find a reasonable English copy. With that being said, make sure to put the movie adaptation on your radar and perhaps I would also suggest you to check the novel, whenever there is a possibility for you to read it. Book lovers are guaranteed to love this novel!
