Ahiru no Sora
add

Obviously both about basketball however that isn't really what makes them similar. Perhaps it is better to say they are the inverse of one another, in Ahiru no Sora the MC is a small, happy-go-lucky high schooler who sets out to make an official basketball club which until this point has been the den for a group of delinquents. Instead of Slam Dunk where a tall and highly athletic delinquent who has never played before joins a somewhat distinguished basketball team. The key difference would be that Ahiru no Sora has slightly more focus on Slice of Life elements, however it clearly is influenced by Slam Dunk (has a few references) and the games are very similar in style.

Ruler of the Land

While Ruler of the Land is set in the past while The Breaker is set up in Modern society, both share a couple similarities. Both main characters start off knowing almost no Martial Arts however improve at a very rapid pace although the reason why is for different reasons (both why they improve so fast and why they started from knowing none). Also both involve the "Murim" or martial arts world, and therefore deal with strifes between different Martial Arts Clans. It should be noted however that while both are usually pretty serious during fights, Ruler of the Land has many more comedic moments due to the fact that the main protagonists are nothing alike.

Both feature a male MC with a scary face, and due to this usually is forced to fight delinquents, even though he is trying to shape up to impress a gentle girl they both like.

Kimi ni Koishite Ii desu ka.

They both feature a guy who has an insanely scary face, because of this they are both commonly misunderstood and found in all sorts of comedic events, While Angel Densetsu is more of a shounen and focuses more on delinquency and comedy Kimi ni Koi Shite Ii Desu Ka. Focuses more on the romance however both series have an uncanny resemblance both in tone (both use the "scary face" as a source of comedy) and in plot.

Film Girl
add

Immediately I noticed a similar art between the two (checked after and noticed both were by the same author), the male lead is also more proactive in getting the female lead's attention. Also both female lead have some sort of past "trauma" that leads them to try and hold themselves back but the male lead comes in and tries to push them out of this "shell" they have created. The subject between the two however is different.

Ai wo Choudai!
add

Very similar in quite a few ways, first being the tone and dynamic of the relationship with the female setting out to hate the male MC but quickly falling for him although in Ai wo Chodai! the female MC does like the male MC at first before the story begins. Also both are Josei that involve a couple who are very busy with their own careers and rarely have time to meet. Finally the male MC's are extremely similar in that in both cases they have been hurt by females in the past and take a very defensive and rude approach to the female MC at first. Both are Josei with a very similar plot, similar type of drama and both have a very similar tone, if you enjoyed one chances are you will like the other.

Sora Log
add

Both series have a male lead who is very gentle in nature however misunderstood and feared by the rest of the students at the school. Also while they are very kind both male leads are very strong. In Sora Log the parents approve of the relationship while in Iinchou no Himegoto they don't but overall both are a more light-hearted romances with a misunderstood male lead and a very non-judgmental female lead.

Nodame Cantabile
add

These are both rather happy anime that center around self growth in the MC, in Aishiteruze Baby the main character learns responsibility as he goes through many situations while raising his much younger cousin while in Nodame Cantabile she learns about truly understanding a piece of music and the joy it can bring to truly practice with the intent to get better. The key similarity however is the overflowing happiness both bring out, with a slight bit of romance on the side, In Aishiteruze Baby this is a bit more obvious and upfront while in Nodame Cantabile it is much more subtle. Both series do not contain too much drama and will really give off a rather refreshing feeling.

True Tears
add

Both anime feature a rather dramatic atmosphere for being a shounen without a large amount of comic relief which is not common for shounen romances, where the norm is often times a romantic comedy with some degree of fan service. The larger reason as to why these two anime are similar in some regards is the fact they both center around a love triangle in which their is progress as opposed to often times in shounen romances where if their is a love triangle it will end with an open ending due to a rather indecisive male lead.

Bal Jak
add

They both are about delinquents who aim to be #1, In Worst the MC is trying to unite his highschool which is notorious for being one of the most rowdy highschools whereas in Bal Jak the MC wants to use brute strength to make a new country. One might think that their goals wold lead to two extremely different manga however in the case of Bal Jak the MC's dream is almost like a childish dream that gathers other crazy people who likes his crazy attitude to him. They also both feature very similar fighting scenes as well as art styles.

Destroy and Revolution
add

Both series deal with a main character having an unusual gift and another character, who upon noticing that gift shares his opinion on how to make the best use of the gift. In other words both series revolve around a character who has some kind of special power and a clever friend who sees the potential that power can do. In Sensen Spike Hills it is less supernatural with the gift being his ability to pickpocket while in Destroy and Revolution it is a power called "Oneness". Also their goals differ quite drastically however both share a similar rather melancholy tone. It is important to note that in Destroy and Revolution their is no minor romance aspect to it as well as in Sensen Spike Hills the subject matter is somewhat more mature and aspects due to the fact that it deals with drugs and sex.

Sensen Spike Hills
add

Both share this rather somber and hopeless tone, with "young-ish" characters who are already jaded. In both series the main character is changed by the introduction of the female lead for the better (relative to the plot, not necessarily better legally wise in the case of Sensen Spike Hills). The biggest differences are in the plot, with Inu Neko Jump being about regaining some former passion for long jumping in college and Sensen Spike Hills being about stealing the answer key for a college entrance exam. While sharing a similar tone throughout the majority of the manga Inu Neko Jump has rather "safer" subject matter whereas in Sensen Spike Hills both drugs and sex are brought up however are only a very minor part in the manga.

Sensen Spike Hills
add

In both manga the tone is rather dark, hopless and somber. Both series showcase a main character who doesn't know what to do with their lives and live a very apathetic life until the introduction of a rather "spunky" and eccentric girl shows up. In Yesterday wo Utatte the female lead already likes the MC and tries (although usually in vain) to win his affection while in Sensen Spike Hills the relationship sort of happens whether they truly have feelings for one another or not. Also it is important to note that Sensen Spike Hills, while sharing a similar tone as Yesterday wo Utatte, is a bit more mature as it deals with subjects such as sex and drugs.

Yesterday wo Utatte
add

Both series feature a guy with very little ambition as well as a rather somber atmosphere. They also have the ex-girlfriend or in Welcome to the NHK's case the former love interest reappear in to the main characters life throwing the main character in to disarray. And finally they both start off with a very eccentric, and somewhat younger girl entering their life as well as both girls having romantic feelings for the main male characters. Welcome to the NHK is more of a psychological anime and contains drug abuse whereas Yesterday wo Utatte is more of a slice of life about a convenience store worker who doesn't know what to do with his life.

add

Both manga are very violent with a similar tone. Both main characters exhibit this very brutal, almost insane personality when fighting where they almost yearn for bloodshed however outside of battle both have a very calm and detached personality. Also in both they are friends or team up with a more level headed and calculating friend, in Drifters its Nobunaga and in Gangsta. It's his buisness partner Worick. However the setting is where they differ, Drifters is a fantasy world where tons of the big names throughout history are tossed in to (like Nobunaga or Jeanne d'Arc) where Gangsta. Is set in a lawless town where you have to get your hands dirty to make ends meat.

Both of these are happy romances with almost no drama whatsoever although the key similarity between the two is the fact that both blatantly deal with sex. Get You
add

Both contain extremely similar plots, you have your super start rocker male lead and your "average" high school girl female lead. They also are both pretty smutty. The key difference being in Get You Anri (the main character) sleeps with who she believes to be Shin (a famous singer) however is soon filled with doubt and is determined to make the "imposter" pays for it where as in Kaikan Phrase its a fateful encounter with Sakuya (a famous singer) in which Aine (the main character) forgets her lyrics she puts her soul in to behind after the encounter and next thing you know the famous Sakuya is performing a new song with her lyrics. I would say that Get You is more about the smuttiness and comedy while Kaikan Phase is more about the drama however make no mistake, they are both very smutty.

Deadman Wonderland
add

Deadman Wonderland and World Embryo actually share very little in terms of plot except for in both cases the leading female character has a rather rough past. The main similarity is found in their tone, they both are what I would classify as "Dark Shounen" meaning they both maintain many of the qualities that make them shounen but have a much darker tone than manga like Naruto or the like. Another similarity is that in both manga you have a male MC who starts off weak but is extremely determined to rise up to the occasion.
