Since I'm uprooting my anime life anyways I have decided that the total number of entries on my anime list will never exceed 420. Although I will keep doing stuff like not listing obvious movies and keeping 1 episode specials and stuff to a minimum in order to avoid cluttering up my list I won't delete any of the actual Completed, On-Hold, and Dropped stuff I have right now.
Ever since I made this decision I have had enormous difficulty trying to decide which PTW series I should delete to make room for new (good) shows [Remember; this list is not up to date, the anilist one is my real list this list is pre-420 decision]. However I don't want to waste space on my list on more crappy crap shows about fanservice and blank slate protagonists so it has become decidedly easier to avoid picking up whatever is airing and popular.
Anyways I've kept my secret rule of never deleting anything I write here deliberately so below is my clutterfuck of a profile.
BACK IN 4 MONTHS DOING TRAVELLING OR WHATEVER
I'm probably approaching 10 days spent on tvtropes (that is in the 24hr per day sort of way) and thusly have decided that rating is practically meaningless since importance =/= enjoyment =/= quality. However I try to keep my scoring consistent although I don't really know what it reflects anymore (originally I was rating shows on how much I thought OTHERS would like them and I'm still doing that but what an ideal person likes is changing for me very rapidly).
When I watch stuff weekly I tend to overrate it!!!!
I want to make this section better but I love procrastinating and I find it sort of boring editing my profile so meh. I guess I'll throw some quick facts about me in here to alleviate some of the facelessness associated with being an internet person, however it will be in code so that only the creepiest of stalkers can know anything about me.
Gender: I think it should be obvious from looking at my list?
Nationality: The same as the guy who discovered america.
Occupation: Besides watching anime and doing various other activities I'm basically on my way to becoming Hari Seldon
The first anime I watched was Dragon Ball when I was a kid watching cartoon network I didn't remember any of it though and I just recently started watching anime so my first anime was Bleach, I watched all of it in 5 days and imediatly got hooked on anime. I think it was just before the summer of 2011 so I watch about 30 days of anime a year (~0.8% of my time). Oh and I hate dubs.
There will always be an empty spot in my favorite manga because that slot is occupied by Tower of God which isnt in the MAL database due to being a 'webtoon' (not officially published).
I think this is the most relevant information I can put in this section so for now it will be the only thing in it. Except of course for the mandatory...
...How I rate:
I have three tiers and try to place anime into those categories before I actually rate it and then I just rate it on a scale from 1-3. If a series has boring parts, bad episodes, starts out weird or something else is wrong then I try to make it affect the score. These are the tiers:
Tier 1: (8-10) Must see, regardless of preference (with exceptions)
Tier 2: (5-7) At the least worth your time. I'd think of 7's and some 6's as must see if you like the genre.
Tier 3: (1-4) Not worth your time. However most series have some redeeming factors so I still rate these on a scale from 1-4.
10: This is not necessarily my favorite anime. I just feel it is as close to flawless as you can get. However it could also just have something that outweighs those flaws?
9: Something small was wrong and I cared (as opposed to not caring about it which would be a 10). Also the series had great potential or was somehow epic.
8: Very very good (tier 1 after all) but lacks something important that I can't put my finger on. Often I don't see how stuff with this rating could've been done better, I guess I'd say this anime is something that reached its potential but wasn't meant for glory.
7: This is genuinely great and I would recommend it (or even consider it a must-see) to those who like this sort of show (as opposed to tier 1 which I'd recommend to anyone) and I'd recommend those interested to give it a shot.
6: This is a good rating from me, it means I enjoyed it as entertainment but wasn't moved in any great way or the series has some major flaws despite being enjoyable or moving. Recommended to fans of the genre.
5: I thought it was worth watching and if it was on your PTW you shouldn't remove it from there. So if you were already going to watch it then watch it, otherwise steer clear.
4: Not worth watching because to much of the series is boring and then there isn't any cool ending or anything which is usually what makes up for it being boring at some point or another
3: Worse than 4 but still the same idea - basically more of it is boring or the ending is weaker
2: Horrible, I don't believe anyone will watch this and like it.
1: Really catastrophically terrible but I don't give this rating unless its something I actually had expectations for. You can't hate something unless you cared for it at some point.
None of my favorites are in order
