Didn't like it - don't understand the fuzz about it

Nothing wrong with it but didn't hold my attention, reminds me of AnoHana

Initially I didn't think this anime was anything spectacular but the beauty of it is in the details and since the story is so confusing it is hard to appreciate it. I accidentally saw this again and it changed my opinion of it somewhat and with time I came to love it.

Edit: When I say initially I didn't think it was spectacular I am not really being honest since I always thought this was a tier 1 anime. However I have been playing with the idea of promoting this to a 9 after rewatching it so that is what I mean with that comment.

I really like how the protagonists are like Light and L working together to make manga. FYI the same guys made both bakuman and death note. Also I think its sortof "kawai" that they seem to be trying to redeem themselves for forcing death note to have a note as good second half with bakuman. Explaining the industry and trying to make Ashirogi Muto prolong their series to get an anime etc etc.

Black Lagoon is just completely unexciting imo. It was borderline cliché and just meh I know some people love it but ... well I'm not one of those people.

This is actually starting to become really interesting, however they've caught up with the light novels and the author is going to start writing the script for the show instead of writing LN's first. Anyways if he manages to resolve the plot in a cool way then the next season will be amazing. I never thought I'd be excited for a harem anime of all things -_-

I felt this series was very similar to SAO which I think out dates it (SAO started as LN?), this anime is also very similar to the hunger game concept so yeah not very creative.

Despite that I think I'll rate it a 7 while the series was predictable as a whole and had some fan service which doesn't do much for the plot the action scenes were exciting and they didn't feel to deus ex machinima to me (you normally got a explanation or a good sidetrack).

The animation was good and overall this is an OK series. Normally I'd rate it a 6 but I gave it a 7. Reason being that I gave SAO a 6.

SAO has a (IMO) highly enjoyable and rather-predictable-but-with-some-cool-twists first half and then an incredibly terrible second half. Despite that I felt the first part was good enough for it to deserve a 6, that is I recommend it to fans of the genre. However Btooom! has no bad second part so it should logically have a higher rating than SAO (I should obviously use the most similar anime on my list as a yardstick for pegging Btooom onto it). So while I rate it a 7 I think most of the other 7 scores are 'higher'. /ratingramble

I like both series a lot but I just don't feel right giving them a high rating. Dunno why it's just like the genre hits some sort of awful sweet spot for me where I like it but I don't like that I do - or something...

I actually sort of wanted him to chose Kyou in the actual show but it takes more than 1 episode to get rid of the syster imo and that is exactly why this OVA could never be that great. Its worth watching I suppose but its not good.

I gave this a higher rating than it perhaps deserved because I thought they were a really cute together and this is my list.

I can't rate the series separately because I feel the story as a whole is the most important and while there are some things I didn't like (The white king never gives up?!) the story as a whole is amazing.

8-10: Very Very good, I consider must watch.
6-7: Good or Very good. Entertaining really not something profound but still something anime fans should watch.
5: Worth the time it takes to watch it
less than 5: Not worth the time it takes to watch it.

I utterly hated the last episode. In my opinion this anime deserves 10 for the part till L dies (I feel like this comment can have spoilers since you need to have seen the show to want to click more if you happen to look over this list). Then a 9 or 8 for the rest of the series and then the ending completely ruins it. That being said there are stupid moments like the thing with the potato chip, however that doesn't really bother me. I decided to rank this with a 9 but I'm starting to think it might be a high 8.

I really don't like this.

It is almost not worth watching and actually if it weren't as: old, popular or glorified it wouldn't be. Also it's OVA which is pretty impressive.

So what I'm basically saying is that I'd watch it as an yardstick for participating in the community and because it is interesting historically (its purdy old).

This series is good however I couldn't rate it higher / as high as Chihayafuru and Bakuman.

I generally don't care if an original idea is stolen as long as the product is an improvement from the original. I believe that the original creator is the only person that doesn't benefit from it and he has an advantage of knowing the product the best so even then the battlefield is slanted in his favor.

For that reason I do not rate things based on when they came out or how original they were back then.

Back to Hikaru no Go: This is a very good series. However I believe its main strength is just that it features Go which is a very interesting game as opposed to for example Karuta which in my opinion isn't - this basically means that I would have been interested in Hikaru no Go even if it wasn't good while I wouldn't be interested in Chihayafuru.

I decided to try to rate anime objectively enough that the setting could not affect my scores preemptively, so a show about Go would have to have as interesting characters and story as a story about Karuta. Hikaru no Go has a very weak ending and the story isn't anything amazing. This leads to a score of 5, I found it worth watching if you are interested in it but it is still worse than Chihayafuru and Bakuman.

I dunno if I have explained my reasoning well enough so I will repeat the first thing I said: This series is good.

It just irritated me how much untapped potential a story like this has.

The action is amazingly good and the story has no real incosistencies main problem is dragon OP. But super cool that the MC is really OP but still not able to do anything he's just incredibly strong.

FYI I think season 1 is better than season 2

The ending had nothing to do with the main storyline, also WTF! It ended just before everything they'd been building up to for the last half series went down. Why are anime producers retarded? No seriously I demand answers!

I wanted this to be better but I'm not a fan of progressing the plot by playing one of three stock songs and showing a slideshow of some stuff. Also there were infinite flashbacks.

However the story was cool and I liked this a lot, I just can't put it into tier one though (8+).

The animation is terrible but I didn't want it to affect the score to much so I basically subtracted 1 from what I think I would have scored it if the animation were normal.

I can never give this a very high rating since most of it isn't any good and you really have to torture yourself to watch it. However I can't give this a mediocre or low rating either since it is rather epic... it plays with your mind since your perception of every character changes so much and you almost believe the whole show was good at the end but it just isn't.. or is it? I dunno so I'm not rating it and I sure as hell aint watching that again so yeah... There you have it

This show has shitty unrelatable characters a ridiculous story line and wtf things happening all through it. However the ending is quite good and really justifies how weird everyone was imo. Still can't really rate it with anything higher than 6 since you have to watch a lot of mediocre episodes before you can appreciate them.

I downloaded bakemonogatari for ratio on a torrent site 7 months after I dropped it.

I then decided to watch it since I had already downloaded it and it isn't long and I didn't want to let a bad first impression ruin a multiple season series. Also after I dropped bakemonogatari I managed to torture myself through mawaru penguin drum and I don't regret that decision so I thought that maybe I was missing something good.

If I'd rate it now I think it would be a 6. However I stand by my first impression, it's just that once you get sucked in you stop caring about the details. So for that reason I decided that my list should represent both conflicting opinions (they're both my opinion after all) and thus I won't be updating the bakemonogatari entry and this rating will serve as a joint rating for the first 26 episodes in the monogatari series.

I like shows about otakus trying to fit in. This show has the most disturbing name ever in english (I didn't know I swear! I didn't read about it I just watched it on a whim when I saw s2 being released on a streaming site) but despite its creepy name and setting it was actually incredibly funny at times and it has great animation and voice acting.

I have seen the vast majority of famous anime movies (all of the ghibli stuff for example - even panda kopanda) but I don't rate them because its difficult to compare them to TV shows, they're a lot more polished and comparatively short, I'd probably have to rate them all with 8's and 9's and that wouldn't really give anyone any info. The only movies I've added to completed are the ones I added as PTW on here at some point (so I wouldn't forget to watch them) and then moved once I finished watching to avoid confusion. So take the ratings with a grain of salt (Since my ratings are based on if something is worth watching and movies are very condensed stories and relatively short they will have to be very bad to be not worth your time if you're interested. That is; movie scores are very inflated).

BTW Panda kopanda was catastrophically bad if anyone's wondering. It's more like a series of episodes than a movie and it's made for VERY small children which are not prone to suicidal tendencies.

If this had been a whole playthrough I would've liked it although I sortof realize how long that would have to be now that I've seen this but still. All he did was list events that you must complete in the game and then some minor event would be played out in full detail (mostly involving his rival 'green') and it would without exception be rushed and meh.

I didn't expect this to be good but it was like an insult to the original game. This is an overstatement but the pokemon games are nostalgic to me and I sortof knew how I wanted this to be therefor this gets the score of 1. Something I really wanted to be good but ended up being really bad.

I rewatched this recently, but now I've also seen the original rurouni kenshin series so I felt ashamed that this was only a 7. That being said I'm wary of promoting it to a 9 so it will be a 8 for now.

This is the worst anime I have ever seen (just letting that sink in here) - except the mahjong games are pretty cool. So I basically watched all the bullshit moments at 2x speed or skipped them. I guess I could rate it a 5 watched that way since everything is so cliche that you don't really need to watch any of it...

It could even technically pass for being "worth your time" that way (lowest worth-time score on my list is 5). However that would be confusing since nobody reads these comments so I put it as 2 which is the rating it deserves as absolute crap.

There was an opportunity for it to be pretty good but alas no it was not to be.

Probably should be higher but I before MAL I had a notepad file that rated everything with A's and B's and when I "converted" it I decided to use the whole 1-10 scale and thus some shows got a low rating because I wanted them to be between certain other shows. In short I needed more numbers ^^

I'm pretty sure this rating is rather generous but there are several reasons I rated it a 7 rather than a 6. I'm not going to go into detail since it's all subjective anyway.

Harima Kenji took a pretty stereotypical bad-ish anime and made it into something really awesome. So basically I don't care if it's an overestimation.

I watched this one to early on. I don't know if this really should be rated '7' feels more like a 6 now (march 2013) but since I have been deciding other scores by using the old ones for reference I don't want to change this one. Also I don't want to re-watch it at all so this will stay a low 7 forever.

It has more cliches than I'd like it to have but it's still really well made and the flaws weren't important enough for me to care all that much. The ending was a bit rushed but I guess it's all about the journey rather than the destination.

Also it's pretty cool how un-anime-like this is:
Lots of people die without to much fanfare (although the opposite is also true)
The supernatural element in the series while important isn't really introduced until late in the series and is considered an affliction
The mandatory love triangle is believable and stays a triangle (no fanfare or harems)
While some of the characters are borderline one dimensional (the racist, the power hungry king guy and his ever faithful super subordinate) they don't lose their human element - that is to say all the characters are relatively relate-able
The character development is subtle yet noticeable, you feel how some of the characters harden because of the war

However that being said there is also some stiffness in the series and also some of the more heart wrenching moments are presented in a very plain way so you don't really get the same feels you might get elsewhere. I don't really feel like this is a "must-watch" (what 8+ means in my ratings) but from a production standpoint I feel like the quality of the series is on par with a rating of 8. Also its not like I feel like it should be a 5 or anything, going by my gut I guess I'd rate it a 7 but I'm bumping it by one due to the reasons above.

I don't really know if this deserves such a high score but I just love it so I don't care.

Fyrst part was excellent, they made a pretty cliché'd story interesting again imo. Then came freaking Alfheim and I lost faith in humanity however compared to bleach and other things like it 11 bad pretty obvious episodes is nothing and if the story gets interesting again in the next two seasons this rating could definitely go up.

(Since I normally rate all the series with one rating because I drop things I don't like and things I do like I finish completely (discounting random OVAs) so IMO series are a package deal with only one rating, also I'm lazy like that :) <- case in point.

Edit: Now a month has passed since I watched this and I have decided that this is actually worth the time it takes to watch it (that is a 5 not a 4). However that is the limit to how fair I can be (this anime is actually pretty good except that the protagonist falls in love with the only female main character that I didn't like - hence I don't like it.).

In my opinion Trigun is a one trick pony. There isn't a lot that happens and the episodes and the story aren't particularly exciting. However it is still worth a watch.

The only reason I rated this in the "worth watching" category - the same reason I didn't drop it due to incredible predictability - is that the battles are really unique and the whole concept of the show is pretty original.

That being said this is just way to predictable and meh to deserve any great rating.

Doesn't seem like its predecessor is a harem eroge at all. Pretty cool fantasy world and all the fighting and strategies were really cool. However the mecha part was a bit weird and them being gods was cool but still anticlimactic in the way it was handled. Would have gotten a 7 without the mecha business and an 8 if it had brushed up some of the stiffness in dialogue and movement.

Definately not worth the time but I've already watched past Azen being defeated so I might as well see how they'll make Ichigo the soul king or whatever

The story is great but I don't like the anime that much compared to the manga (see manga list for that rating), I know I have double standards rating this with a 7 while I rate other shonen anime like bleach or naruto really low despite liking this anime a little less even than both of those (I just really don't think they did a good job the manga is sooo much better)

Just as bad as the first series but I have discovered that having one enemy that mysteriously survives everything in a deus ex diaboli sort of way is preferable to having some stupid yuri supersoldier twins and a guy that starts singing ave maria because he's SOOO BAD. This is a freakin' horrible concept made worse by horrible characters the badass protagonist guy is just an empty shell that obeys his duty and has literally no appeal at all. I can't believe I've watched 26 episodes of this shit I have never been more mad at my self than I am right now.

I actually really liked it. Shishio arc is awesome. But the whole anime is too long and really not worth the time it takes to watch imo. I ended up dropping it when it had gotten unbearable and it was clear there was no grand plot shaping up just some episodic mehness. IF it had ended with some one pretty good arc post Shishio and been a little more adult pre Shishio I think I'd have rated this 7 or 8. The Shishio arc itself is in 8ish territory imo.
