Had some great ideas but sadly ruined it with the handling of the abilities later in the story.
It can be quite hard to find something new, something fresh in the supernatural genre when it comes down to abilities. But to my suprise, this is where Battle Game 5 seconds picked me up in the first place. The ability of Akira, the main character, is "whatever the other person thinks it is". From the point where I got to know about his ability, I was looking forward how he would psychologically trick the other characters to use the full potential
...
of it. My perception was, that he really needed to make the others "believe", that his ability is XY... Unfortunately, when the anime goes more into how his ability works, it is revealed, that this is not the case.
Later down in the series, Akira befriends with another participant of the death game in the name of Yuuri and ends up telling her about his real ability. She now knows the truth of his ability, so his ability won't work on or with her anymore, right? right? Wrong.
From this point on, Akira is basically a god, because unlike I thought, he doesn't need to make others truly believe that his ability is this or that. Nope, he only needs someone to literally think or imagine a specific ability, thinking it is his; and BOOM, that's the ability he will have. That means, as long as Yuuri is on his side he can practically use any ability he... well to be correct... Yuuri can imagine. For me this is what killed this anime. From that point on, why didn't he just use some OP ability to get the hell out of this place or just insta-kill his enemies? A lot of questions to be asked...
So, the story is very poorly written, not only because of how the abilites are handled but also because in some fights, somehow, the characters are predicting the predictions of other characters. As an example: "Haha, I predicted you would make that move, I was prepared for that" - other character: "Haha, I predicted that you would predict my move, it was a trap all along!", and that went on for like 3 more times IN ONE FIGHT.
On the other hand the animation isn't too great (but it's also not bad either).
The characters are all right and you can sympathize with some of them. However there are also characters whose motivation I can literally not understand and that don't make a lot of sense to me.
Overall, as I said in the beginning, this anime had some aspects that could've made it interesting, especially the ability of the MC. Unfortunately, they handled it very badly and the rest is just mediocre at best. I wouldn't really recommend you to watch this show.

I'll have to admit it. I went into this anime being completely biased, knowing I would like it, simply because of it's iconic soundtrack that everyone has listened to (at least to one song), even if you haven't watched Initial D. But even then, Initial D is much better than I expected, which might sound weird, because I am "only" giving it a 8/10 rating.
The thing is, the first season of Initial D is very predictable when it comes to racing. Like seriously, the outcome of every race is basically the same. Initial D's formula can be described as follows:
1. Takumi being challenged to race
...
racer XY in his underpowered AE86
2. Takumi struggling with motivation to race and first declines but then shows up for the race anyways (-> Takumi turning more and more into a real street racer / character development)
3. Takumi's friends watching and being worried that he won't win, because he has no chance in his AE86 against car XY
4. Takumi winning the race against racer XY anyways.
What's even worse is that the race on the Usui pass feels horrendously stretched out and recycles a lot of scenes. And don't forget the romantic subplots...
However, what suprised me about Initial D is how deeply it goes into racing itself. All the different characters have their own driving styles and their own cars that are different from the others and require their own driving technique. Initial D goes into the different driving characteristics of the cars and the driving technique of their drivers and explains what advantages and disadvantages they have. As someone who is into racing I must say that I found all of this really interesting to watch. For others it might just be unnecessary and boring bla bla.
Even if Initial D sticks to a very predictable formula when it comes to the story, the races are not all the same and it manages to create some suspense, so that the races are exciting to watch, especially in combination with one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard in my life.
Verdict: If you are someone who likes racing and is into motorsports of some sort, this is a anime you really don't want to miss. It's the most iconic and original racing anime that is out there and it deserves it's good reputation.

The most disappointing thing about Gatchaman Crowds: Insight is how similar the story evolves here compared to the first season of the series, it's just that in this season the anime picks up some new themes, eventhough generally Gatchaman Crowd: Insight still mainly tries to make statements about society ,politics and social media like in the first season already.
The statements it makes are nothing breathtaking or new, even for it's time and sometimes I found it even hard to take the anime's messages honest since the way it portrays politics and even society sometimes is just too inane. I sometimes wonder if a more realistic
...
setting would've helped conveying the statements Gatchaman Crowds makes better.
After having watched the pre-season Episode 0 for this season, I was hyped up to finally see some more fighting and action but also here I got disappointed. It's just that like in the first season things only start to really spice up towards the last third of the season. It's sad, because the Gatchaman have all been getting their unique abilites and I even liked the designs of the Gatchaman suits a lot, yet you barely get to see them in real action.
There is also absolutely zero background story about the Gatchaman or JJ in this season either, which I would really have appreciated. But in the end many questions regarding the Gatchaman and what JJ has to do with all of this still remain unanswered.
But I don't only want to sound like I'm hating this anime, because it has it's strenghts aswell. The soundtrack is amazing and easily one of my favorite ever. And also character-wise I fell in love with some of the characters. The different ideals of Rui and Rizumu clashing together was really interesting to watch.
In the end Gatchaman Crowds: Insight is fine. It can sometimes feel like a bit of a copy pasta of the first season and doesn't answer some questions I would've liked to be answered but it's still a enjoyable show that picks up some interesting themes, even if sometimes for my taste, a bit too silly.

*This review will contain major spoilers because otherwise I don't believe I can express how disappointed I am with this OVA*
I don't even know where to start with this one. It's just a complete waste of time. When the second episode ended I was just speechless. I just fail to understand why this exists in the first place. What is it trying to show? What am I supposed to take out of this? The OVA starts with a little recap of what happened between Mako and Iketani in the first season. I already hated the drama between Mako and Iketani in the first season and
...
here it's not being resolved either. Mako is obviously still not over the fact that Iketani didn't show up to their planned meeting but that fact is just being forgotten later as Mako is starting to date another guy. Who you may ask? Well, a new, random character from the Night kids, that we'll probably never see again because at the end of the second episode she just dumps him (understandably tho, because he wanted her to stop racing along with him, which makes no real sense to me, since he was described as one of the faster ones of the Night Kids and his reason to stop racing was just cheap seriously).
What else do we have? Oh right, the race of the Sil-Eighty against the Lan-Evo of... well... some random guy from the Emperors that we'll probably also NEVER see again. And it wasn't just a random guy racing the duo of Mako and Sayuki instead of either Seiji or Kyochi, NO, the race also only lasted 3 minutes or so, then the guy crashed. So the race was anything but intense.
On top of that we still have some serious fanservice for the first time in Initial D, like some real nudity, which was unexpected, since the series has never had anything similar in it's first two seasons. And personally I found it totally unnecessary aswell. Not only do you have one scene with nudity, but TWO wohoo... I guess...
Before I forget to mention it, the OVA also featured a recap of the race between Takeshi and The Lan-Evo of Seiji, with the exception, that the outcome was... different??? They remade the scene in which Takeshi crashed against the wall, just that here he doesn't crash in the wall and spins afterwards like it actually happened in the second season, no, here he crashes in the wall and grinds along it till he comes to a stop. Why exactly they remade this scene and made the outcome different is a mystery to me. Maybe it looks a bit fancier but that can't be a good reason to simply show a false flashback lol.
So, is there actually anything positive about this OVA? Well, the only thing I can think about is that you get to know a bit more about Shingo, which I found interesting. Otherwise this OVA is nothing but a time killer. You're not going to get what you expect, unfortunately.

So I am actually going to say it. Planet With is underrated. And yes, I also hate people that say stuff like that all the time. Because nowadays for me it feels like an anime is always either over- or underrated and there is nothing in between anymore.
But hear me out, because this anime really is a hooker. Why? Well for me it was simply the pace this anime had. It's insane. I've never gotten so much content in 12 episodes like here. The story is solid and extremely unpredictable. If you think you know how this anime is going to end after just 2
...
episodes be prepared for Planet With to just slap your face. Yes, the story can be weird at times, especially in the beginning. But it picks up so many interesting themes and the fighting scenes didn't disappoint either.
I still haven't watched many anime but this one really suprised me. It was a whole different experience from the other animes that I've watched so far. It's definetly worth a shot.

What does it feel like to experience love for the first time? Tsuki ga kirei is trying to show just that.
At the beginning of the anime both of the main characters, Akane and Kotaro are extremely shy and don't really know how to handle this new feeling. There are scenes where they just sit next to eachother, not saying anything and even when they are together as a couple later in the anime they have their awkward moments. But that's exactly what I love about this anime. Their relationship might be awkward in the beginning but it's not too corny and
...
has some good development towards the end.
I wish it had the same development through the mid part of the anime but unfortunately that's where their relationship can feel pretty empty at times as the only thing they really do is smalltalk. Both Kotaro and Akane are not the most interesting characters either. Akane is part of the track team in their school and likes to run while Kotaro is part of the literature club, likes to write novels and helps his dad out at the shrine and some festivals. That's really all there is to them. At the same time the side characters are barely being dealt with aswell. So character wise Tsuki ga kirei is definetly one of the worse romance animes you can find out there.
Nevertheless, I still think that Tsuki ga kirei is brilliant at portraying what it feels like to experience love for the first time and the ending made me tear up which is a good sign :p

Tonikaku Kawaii starts where many romantic animes leave off: Two characters confessing their love for each other. This is why I started watching Tonikaku in the first place. I was curious to see in which direction it would go but unfortunately this anime is a huge disappointment if you are looking for an anime with an interesting story or characters. In one word I would describe the anime as 'corny'.
Story:
The story focuses purely on the relationship between Tsukasa and Nasa and how they experience their everyday life after they've married. You would imagine that in those 12 episodes you would see
...
how both of them get to know eachother and how they grow closer together as a couple. After all, they've married not knowing eachother at all. However there is absolutely no development, even after 12 episodes the love between Nasa and Tsukasa is still as weird and awkward as it was in the beginning. Instead, the anime is trying to be funny all the time with Nasa being cringey around Tsukasa which is getting on ones nerves after some time. The story also features a visit to Nasas parents aswell as encounters with Tsukasas 'kind of' sister, Elements that could've been used to also create some drama, which I definetly prefer, even in a romcom but instead as I said the anime just tries to be funny a l l t h e t i m e, probably also the reason why the romantic moments between Nasa and Tsukasa didn't 'catch' me at all.
Art:
The Artstyle of Tonikaku is surely nothing special but it's still beautiful and clean nontheless.
Characters:
The main characters are really flat and don't have an interesting or special personality which is also the reason why the love between Nasa and Tsukasa doesn't really go 'deep'. Most of the time the two of them are being portrayed as an innocent couple. Nasa is intelligent, has the ability to stay calm even in stressful situations and is always ready to help others around him while Tsukasa has a pure heart and tries to make others feel comfortable around her. The other side characters are boring or annoying and don't really have an influence on the story or Nasa and Tsukasa at all. Most of them feel pretty pointless.
Tonikaku Kawaii isn't doing anything special here. You could probably say that it's good for ones soul as the characters are so innocent and the story is good-natured. However this kind of anime gets boring and monotonous pretty quickly so that a short OVA with like 4 - 6 episodes would have been enough by far.

I am a bit split when it comes down to Goblin Slayer. It's not a special anime, not one that is extremely good at one thing while also not being really bad at anything either.
The Story is pretty generic, it's all about slaying Goblins and there isn't much more depth to it. The characters and their relationships are pretty flat and it's hard to identify or relate with any of the characters which is why it can get boring to watch sometimes. On the other Hand though the animation itself isn't too bad (except for Goblin Slayer's constant CGI-walking) and I enjoyed most of the
...
fighting scenes against the Goblins.
Verdict: It's a good anime if you don't care a lot about world and character building. The Story is pretty generic and can get boring at times but it's a great anime if you just want to lean back and enjoy some brutal and gory fighting scenes.
