Spoiler
*This review will contain major spoilers because otherwise I don't believe I can express how disappointed I am with this OVA*

I don't even know where to start with this one. It's just a complete waste of time. When the second episode ended I was just speechless. I just fail to understand why this exists in the first place. What is it trying to show? What am I supposed to take out of this? The OVA starts with a little recap of what happened between Mako and Iketani in the first season. I already hated the drama between Mako and Iketani in the first season and here it's not being resolved either. Mako is obviously still not over the fact that Iketani didn't show up to their planned meeting but that fact is just being forgotten later as Mako is starting to date another guy. Who you may ask? Well, a new, random character from the Night kids, that we'll probably never see again because at the end of the second episode she just dumps him (understandably tho, because he wanted her to stop racing along with him, which makes no real sense to me, since he was described as one of the faster ones of the Night Kids and his reason to stop racing was just cheap seriously).

What else do we have? Oh right, the race of the Sil-Eighty against the Lan-Evo of... well... some random guy from the Emperors that we'll probably also NEVER see again. And it wasn't just a random guy racing the duo of Mako and Sayuki instead of either Seiji or Kyochi, NO, the race also only lasted 3 minutes or so, then the guy crashed. So the race was anything but intense.

On top of that we still have some serious fanservice for the first time in Initial D, like some real nudity, which was unexpected, since the series has never had anything similar in it's first two seasons. And personally I found it totally unnecessary aswell. Not only do you have one scene with nudity, but TWO wohoo... I guess...

Before I forget to mention it, the OVA also featured a recap of the race between Takeshi and The Lan-Evo of Seiji, with the exception, that the outcome was... different??? They remade the scene in which Takeshi crashed against the wall, just that here he doesn't crash in the wall and spins afterwards like it actually happened in the second season, no, here he crashes in the wall and grinds along it till he comes to a stop. Why exactly they remade this scene and made the outcome different is a mystery to me. Maybe it looks a bit fancier but that can't be a good reason to simply show a false flashback lol.

So, is there actually anything positive about this OVA? Well, the only thing I can think about is that you get to know a bit more about Shingo, which I found interesting. Otherwise this OVA is nothing but a time killer. You're not going to get what you expect, unfortunately.
