Mixed Feelings
*This review contains minor spoilers*

What does it feel like to experience love for the first time? Tsuki ga kirei is trying to show just that.

At the beginning of the anime both of the main characters, Akane and Kotaro are extremely shy and don't really know how to handle this new feeling. There are scenes where they just sit next to eachother, not saying anything and even when they are together as a couple later in the anime they have their awkward moments. But that's exactly what I love about this anime. Their relationship might be awkward in the beginning but it's not too corny and has some good development towards the end.

I wish it had the same development through the mid part of the anime but unfortunately that's where their relationship can feel pretty empty at times as the only thing they really do is smalltalk. Both Kotaro and Akane are not the most interesting characters either. Akane is part of the track team in their school and likes to run while Kotaro is part of the literature club, likes to write novels and helps his dad out at the shrine and some festivals. That's really all there is to them. At the same time the side characters are barely being dealt with aswell. So character wise Tsuki ga kirei is definetly one of the worse romance animes you can find out there.

Nevertheless, I still think that Tsuki ga kirei is brilliant at portraying what it feels like to experience love for the first time and the ending made me tear up which is a good sign :p
