Tonikaku Kawaii starts where many romantic animes leave off: Two characters confessing their love for each other. This is why I started watching Tonikaku in the first place. I was curious to see in which direction it would go but unfortunately this anime is a huge disappointment if you are looking for an anime with an interesting story or characters. In one word I would describe the anime as 'corny'.

Story:
The story focuses purely on the relationship between Tsukasa and Nasa and how they experience their everyday life after they've married. You would imagine that in those 12 episodes you would see how both of them get to know eachother and how they grow closer together as a couple. After all, they've married not knowing eachother at all. However there is absolutely no development, even after 12 episodes the love between Nasa and Tsukasa is still as weird and awkward as it was in the beginning. Instead, the anime is trying to be funny all the time with Nasa being cringey around Tsukasa which is getting on ones nerves after some time. The story also features a visit to Nasas parents aswell as encounters with Tsukasas 'kind of' sister, Elements that could've been used to also create some drama, which I definetly prefer, even in a romcom but instead as I said the anime just tries to be funny a l l t h e t i m e, probably also the reason why the romantic moments between Nasa and Tsukasa didn't 'catch' me at all.

Art:
The Artstyle of Tonikaku is surely nothing special but it's still beautiful and clean nontheless.

Characters:
The main characters are really flat and don't have an interesting or special personality which is also the reason why the love between Nasa and Tsukasa doesn't really go 'deep'. Most of the time the two of them are being portrayed as an innocent couple. Nasa is intelligent, has the ability to stay calm even in stressful situations and is always ready to help others around him while Tsukasa has a pure heart and tries to make others feel comfortable around her. The other side characters are boring or annoying and don't really have an influence on the story or Nasa and Tsukasa at all. Most of them feel pretty pointless.

Tonikaku Kawaii isn't doing anything special here. You could probably say that it's good for ones soul as the characters are so innocent and the story is good-natured. However this kind of anime gets boring and monotonous pretty quickly so that a short OVA with like 4 - 6 episodes would have been enough by far.
