Recommendations for something similar to Blassreiter? Well, I agree, it is a pretty unique piece. Hm... it's not as tragic or deep, but how about Samurai 7? It's another Gonzo piece that made it to Toonami. It uses the same brand of Gonzo CGI and all the good characters die in it, too :P

It was great, it was one of the first Gonzo anime I'd seen and still the best. And points for the Joseph avatar, one great man, he was.
