This novel is one of the "Deconstructing being reincarnated in a fantasy world" kind, which have been becoming so popular lately that they became their own category.
What differates it from those other novels is the humor. The protagonist is not one of those "I stopped being human so I don't care about humans anymore" characters, but an honestly nice and laid back, but still hard working guy. He does not develop a god-complex over his abilites but decides to change his enviroments for everyone's amusement and benefit. His narration can get pretty hilarious.
The setting might be a bit common, but the side characters are

Nononono has attempted raid, people being kicked off very high places, boobs, murder, attempted murder, suicide, afros and genderbender. It's a manga about skijumping.
Nononono is the second work of Lynn Okamoto, who is the best known for Elfenlied and Brynhildr in the darkness. Compared to those works Nononono is harmless, but he still managed to get his own personal note of ecchi, comedy and violence into it. It is not like those normal sports manga you see everywhere. If you expect something like Kuroko no Basket or Haikyuu, you will be disappointed. The manga covers a sport that is very minor in most countries, but it ... Aug 4, 2015
Raqiya is a manga based on Gnostic mythology. No idea what that is? Don't worry, you can still enjoy it. Except if you are a strict believing catholic, then you might want to burn this blasphemy.
First, be warned: Raqyia is full of tragedies. The story follows Luna Hazuki, a girl who apparently was chosen to destroy earth. There is no great adventure to save the world, there are no bishounen demons or angels fighting on her side. The story plays on our normal Earth where most people are normal. Or in a creepy cult that prays the Gnostic gods and defiles virgins. The story already ... Aug 4, 2015
Monster Girl
(Manga)
add
Youkai Shoujo is a must for all monster girls fans.
The story is about a guy who gets involved with several monster girls. There is quite a bit ecchi content. And that is where the similarities to MonMusu mostly end. Even the monster girls don't overlap. The plot resolves around Yatsuki, a part-time worker who can see spirits and tries to get his sister's soul back into her body. One day he starts getting involved with a youkai girl and from there on the snowball effect keeps on dragging him in deeper and deeper. Story: 7/10 While the MC has a goal, the story has kind of a ... Jul 22, 2013
Nageku Shinigami
(Manga)
add
Nageku Shinigami can be summarized in one sentence:
You read it, you cry, you love it. It's a oneshot, so going into detail would spoil much of it. But I can say, it has a bittersweet story that touches the heart. If you have a bit time, read it, it is only one chapter. I'm sure you won't regret it. Please forgive me for writing such a short review. Jul 22, 2013
Shiawase Kissa 3-choume
(Manga)
add
I don't want to write a long review about Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume, simply for the reason that I don't need many words to describe it.
Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume is a warm and funny shoujo manga. The romance is very slow, so some readers might get impatient. The manga has a warm and comforting atmosphere which is caused by the sympathetic characters and a humorous, heartwarming plot. The art is very nice and fits the manga pretty well. The characters aren't outstanding, but they don't feel like flat characters and it is hard to hate any of them. I recommend Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume to everyone, who wants to ... Apr 9, 2013
Asura Cryin'
(Anime)
add
Doing a review for both seasons here.
If you don't believe me that I gave it a good score, look at the second seasons reviews. Asura Cryin' has a nice art and sound, nothing to complain about there. The battles look good too. The characters are a bit flat at times, but still don't feel too stereotypical. Enough for some tearjerkers. The first season lacks big parts of the backstory since this was put into the second season of the anime. Whoever starts this anime has to prepared to watch both seasons, because without the 2nd season it is way to incomplete to be satisfied. Sounds negative, but ... Mar 13, 2013
Line is a short manga, with a simple but fascinating idea.
A bunch of suicidial persons putting their life in the hand of a normal schoolgirl. The only connection between the girl and the guy who guides her is a cellphone. The story is deep, but not very complex. You barely learn something about the protagonists, and the reasons for the people who want to suicide are never told. But this is part the manga's appeal. Instead of trying to get tears out of the readers by telling tragic stories, you get to see the plot how you would have seen it in real life. Simply following the ... |
