⚜︎ Hello there!
I’m Javi and I’ve been watching anime for over 10 years now.
My love for it remains the same, but as I grew older, my time got shorter and my standards higher.
I gravitate toward Psychological, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Drama, Slice of Life and anything involving Battle Royales or survival games.
Not really a fan of Shounen or Shoujo, and despise Ecchi and that kind of fanservice.
I have never watched any of the long-running classics, such as Naruto, One Piece or Fairy Tail, etc. and I don’t plan to.
As for my list, you’ll find a short comment/ review for every anime I’ve watched, along with tags to help categorize them.
I recommend anything rated between 7-10, however there are some pretty enjoyable anime within the 5-6 range, that may be entertaining even if heavily flawed.
The tag "Highly Recommended" is reserved for the must-watch gems.
If you are fan of movies, you can check my letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/IMoonyI/
My favorite non-anime tv shows are: Anne with an E, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Big Little Lies, Black Mirror, Dexter and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
My favorite visual novels are: Danganronpa 1 & 2 and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

Anyways I am really glad that I managed to make you go and re-watch it and as a result changing the image of the show a bit from your perspective as a fan I can't be happier.(maybe I am wrong about the" I managed to make you go" thing but hey you did rewatched it that's all what matters). For me, the ominous atmosphere being gradually brought up to the setting while proceeding with a slow buring mystery that has a constantly increasing eeriness around was the major plus point and was one of the things that got me balls deep into the show in the first place(it was all about the feeling that something is not quite right about all of this, as the dread increases, some things come up to the surface and the thing finally.... happens). So I am really glad that that aspect of the show struck you the way it did with me.
And as far as I agree with all of the positive points stated, I also agree with all of your negative points about the series as well but still I will defend Misaki's actions here; yes, she didn't said a word about the 'first death' cause she was well aware of the fact that once it's begun it cannot be stopped and followed along the talisman hoping that it might work somehow (which it offcourse didn't) but telling it to the class wouldn't had done anything good theoretically. The actual problem that I found was the fact that Izumi didn't brought up anything to Koichi the first time she met him. (which feels more understandable in the novel as there Izumi didn't even went to the hospital to meet Koichi and the other two weren't the incharge of counter measures so didn't brought it up either and before they could he was already interacting with Mei)
And yeah I agree a slow buring mystery like another needs more time to properly open and proceed with everything like character development, uncovering the mystery and other stuff which the show was actually pulling off quite well but the pacing issues near the middle kinda ruined that( which began after kubidera's suicide; like the entire beach episode....it wasn't even in the novel) and it became worse at the end.
Yeah madoka really deserves a mention here because that's just an example of how one can do world building, develop characters and play with a lot of different themes but still in a short time end it flawlessly and have an impact of just a grandiose magnitude.(btw I love Madoka).
Also regarding the end......I don't really have anything to say or argue about here cause it's just bad let's not hide this fact and I read in the novel yes it could had been so much better but you know what I love Another for just what it is.
I'll make a reply regarding your latest message later today and sorry about the delay again.
Also tell me what are you watching as of now!!?
Yeah I haven't played the visual novel yet but I am planning to soon and I have heard it's atmospherically even more Erie than the anime. So how is it so far!!?? Also try to check out the light novel adaptation of higurashi Ponce you have the time it's freakin awesome dude I've got the entire series and I just love it in this medium as well. And I've also heard amazing things about the manga series from a friend.
Also this really came out as a surprise that you play visual novels..........props bro👍👍👍. Seriously you don't find fellow visual novel players everyday so it's really nice to hear about that.
I am also currently this visual novel called Chaos;child from the science adventure series (that includes steins;gate, Chaos;head, etc) and so far it's just amaaaaazing, definitely a perfect recommendation to sci-fi lovers.
I see so that's how it is!!......... Just keep watching. I haven't watched it yet but my brother did and he said the show was just perfect so let's see how it will go for ya.
Anyways have you ever played a key game!!??
Now as for the explanation as to why I think Shinsekai Yori is one of the most(nearly the most) ground breaking things I've ever seen; a good show is comprised of a blend of excellent character writing, brilliant pacing, overall setting and plot, how the story flows keeping up the theme atmosphere all around the show, and personal enjoyment.(offcourse there are many more elements than this but I guess these right here decide whether one will enjoy or not in general). Shinsekai Yori's characters aren't that memorable or well written cause they weren't made out to be like that but it's just this idea about that diastopian future human society, the concepts of its actual working, how exactly it became like this and just how much is left to explore in this man made hell, all of this just completely screwed my mind and my expectations to this show just became limitless. I mean just think about it whenever you try to picture a future human society you think of really advanced technology, machinary just coming in use every second of life and just a civilized society that isn't made to control anyone leaving everyone to their free wills but just the imagination of the future by the author of Shinsekai Yori(yuusuke kishi) is something that I don't think anyone would ever ever imagine even in their wildest dreams and just thinking about it spends down shivers in my spine that this story is actually written by a human being. All of this accompanied by a sheer god level of story progression which takes up on various plot threads introduced on the go and just execute them when necessary and not subtly.
And to top it all off; All of this large scale world building (which carries on like through the entity of show) in not a dark fantasy thing or something, it clearly has a 100 percent of science basis(aka a sci-fi) which makes a 1000 times more understandable setting and occurances of this world become really realistic and seems like to just about to happen irl.(at least for a sci-fi fan like me)
Now I can go on and on about how this show is technically best in the world or something but what I mostly wanna say about the show is all here(at least 60 percent cause there is so much to talk about this show) and I don't wanna make this too long before I even start talking about other stuff.
Overall Shinsekai Yori is a beautiful show and that's it.
Well first of all, that's a lot to manage your way through and it's really admirable to say the least that even after that you still manage to give some time to this little common hobby of ours. Anyways good luck and I really hope that you achieve what you are aiming for in life.
As for me I am aiming to clear my entrance exams that are coming, I am aiming to become an engineer btw(aeronautic based) and everything just seems to be working out quite well.
Yeah please do, even though a mystery series is at its best when watching for the first time in the second watch however one is able to concentrate more on the story's execution, character writing and overall narrative quality of the show, and as for me who has rewatched another more than 2 times I gotta say that it's replay value is really good and overtime it just becomes better for me. I focused on the above-mentioned points while re-watching other brilliantly written and paced mystery shows like higurashi, Shinsekai Yori, etc and trust me you are gonna love these types of shows even more that way.
Also this might be a hot take but I think that Shinsekai Yori is THE best sci-fi series of all time, you can quote me on that if you want and I would be happy to defend.
Ahh... Actually I am typing this late at night so I am really sorry if there is anything like that can be comprehended offensive.😘😘
Also....... that's some really harsh judge you are being to odd taxi ther.
(Oh I guess the reply came out to be pretty long, huh!!??)
How it's going!!??
