Call of the Night is one of those shows that the more you experience, the more you realize, how freaking horrendous it is. I am a manga reader, and I am an anime watcher. Albeit a year late, I am still here to tell you why this is such a monstrosity that I think it is. All aspects of this shows aside from the style are something I just can not appreciate. In my opinion, this garbage is one of the worst if not the worst coming-of-age stories ever.
The Call of the Night's plot is terribly predictable. Nothing in the anime surprises or holds
...
the viewer's attention. The anime's themes are likewise not fully developed. The plot meanders aimlessly, failing to establish meaningful stakes or character motivation. Although the anime addresses some intriguing concepts related to vampires and the night, these concepts are never completely developed. And yes, they never do get developed in the way they could have been even in the manga. It feels directionless and so much wasted opportunity. The plot has massive pacing issues, quickly breezing over important details like Kou's emerging vampirism while belaboring pointless fanservice and moe scenes.
Kou is the stereotypical bland male protagonist, and his personal struggle is anything but compelling. The rest of the cast is equally one-dimensional and static throughout. Conversations between Kou and Nazuna completely lack authentic chemistry. Akira as Kou's childhood friend remains an undeveloped cliche.
Major plot turns likewise fall flat. Nazuna's vampire clan are tired archetypes when introduced, with no captivating dynamics between them, Nazuna, and Kou. The revelation of Kou's inner bloodlust feels jarringly out-of-character rather than an intriguing twist.
The handling of Nazuna and Kou's relationship continues to be appalling. Their relationship lacks any real depth, and is instead characterized by corny romantic comedy antics such embarrassing wardrobe mishaps.
Compelling themes like the humanity of vampires are introduced but never properly explored. Missed opportunities for philosophical discussions and moral dilemmas. The conflicts faced by the characters lack meaningful stakes or tension. Kou is vaguely warned about vampire hunters but they barely appear. Nazuna's backstory tragedy is glossed over.
The character motivations make little sense. Why does Nazuna take interest in Kou? Why does Kou go along with her whims so easily? Their bond defies logic. For a vampire-focused anime, surprisingly little time is actually spent on vampire activities. Much of it focuses on dull high school slice-of-life.
With poorly developed characters, a meandering plot, wasted potential, and a prioritization of filler content over vampire lore, Call of the Night fails to deliver in any way as a coming-of-age vampire anime. It earns its reputation as an utter disappointment for someone who was so excited after the anime announcement, that I read the entire goddamn manga.
(Note: Maybe what fueled my disappointment was me expecting it to be like or nearly as good as bakemonogatari. The average anime fan seems to enjoy it but these were my thoughts.)

DDDD is a weird manga. Its on one hand a very lifeless manga with no sense of direction for almost half of it, but on the other hand almost all of that content has been quite enjoyable.
The problem is....I waited.
I waited for something to happen..
Nothing did.
The plot is weird, and very hard to explain, because, really there is no plot (for atleast half of it). Its just a manga portraying real life drama and how shit works. But the thing is, it doesn't know how shit works.
It shows how the government works and stuff but it overexaggerates almost everything about them. Its like
...
the manga wants to be realistic with its premise but its so dead set on doing that, that it overdoes it.
For almost 20 chapters in the start, I was trying to figure out what the manga was trying to do, it felt so without any direction and life. It introduced its characters so out of nowhere that it all felt very unnatural.
For a manga with the premise about Aliens invading the world, it just didn't feel like one. Then, I tried to accept the manga and enjoyed what I could!
Enjoyment wise, this manga rocked!
I mean, seriously! It was very fun how the characters behaved so unrealistically and it was just bizarre! The wild nature of it made it so worth the read, I was already invested now that I had accepted its wild nature!
It really never had a twist that would be called as a turning point for it, it had twists related the Aliens and about them but it all felt like that it just happened. It happened and went away.
This was basically how DDDD worked for the first 50-60 chapters, then...the author decided to do something.
Character backstory arrive!
Character have been something special in the past!
It became overly ridiculous and unreal now that it was showing us such bullshit but honestly saying it was very enjoyable, despite it being so random, I enjoyed it!
The art for this manga is top tier! The author knows how to draw pretty buildings and overall the art is perfection...until you see how the characters look like..its very intentional but the author decides to make the characters look so weird and ugly, especially the women...eww man....
Overall
Its a decent manga with an enjoyable concept and characters but that's about what it really is, other than that its a lot of potential sent to the trash can, and the ending was pure garbage. Not garbage because of being incomplete or anything or leaving holes in the story but because it was so unsatisfactory, it puts everything that happened to a place, leaves it and just ends.
I have a lot more to appreciate and despise about the manga..but I will end my review here, I do recommend it to everyone but keep in mind, its not what it seems like!

My Dress Up Darling is fun and all but sadly nothing but waifu bait.
The story is set up in the way all romcoms are, its the that same formula used here. Its about cosplaying which is unique enough to the whole anime romance genre, but the thing is everything else in MDD is seen somewhere else.
Girl and Boy accidentally meet
Girl and boy get together every time in some way
Both develop feelings for each other
This is exactly how MDD is set up and how it works, yep, the same way you have seen in every romcom. Its very predictable because of that but trust me, the
...
show doesn't stop being enjoyable.
You know how most romcoms try to make you smile? Yep, fanservice. That's how MDD does it too, it shows tons of fanservice and horny kids start going wild about it, its enjoyable but some times, the fanservice makes you feel uncomfortable the misunderstandings and all that same way most romcoms do stuff is present here too.
I do not enjoy the fanservice as much as others do, but that fanservice is the only reason as to why this show is as popular as it is, right now. Everyone is making thumbnails of those perverted shots and gaining tons of popularity and even boosting this show itself. Sometimes I am low-key disgusted by how it heavily relies on that.
Remove Fanservice and this show won't be half as popular as it is right now.
The art and animation are pretty solid for a romcom, it is not only a great adaptation of the manga, its a miles better experience too, because CW decided to give this show one perfect adaptation. The animation is smooth, and the art is great too, its very bright and colorful which makes the tone of the show much better and even suits it. The character designs however are very generic and look like the ones most romcoms have, they aren't bad but they aren't new to the show or anything.
The music is fitting, and is good to hear. I love it and I wouldn't be afraid to admit it, but the voice acting for many characters aside from Gojo is many times annoying, I don't like them, but its nothing too bad. Its very subjective but since I am telling my honest thoughts on it, I will also include such details.
The characters are bland as hell, they have the same personalities like you have seen in every teen romance show, the usual gets easily shy, or isn't afraid to show her body, or something like that. Or maybe supporting their low interest or trying to act cute but doing cheesy stuff which somehow comes off as funny, apparently.
The amount of enjoyment varies, just ask yourself your age and how horny you are. If you are 14 and very horny, this is the perfect show for you. I do enjoy it but this show can give off a bad feeling to you or just be annoying.
Overall
I do recommend this show if you don't mind the issues mentioned above much, MDD is waifu bait, and one, which will be very memorable because of doing so everything with fanservice, honestly its one of those bad but enjoyable shows, I won't say more, just try it for yourself.
This is your typical romcom, but this time it was marketed very well, plus the fact Marin is on so many peoples profile as their profile picture just helped sell it more. It falls badly on having substance thus the score it got by me.

Hello, we are the authors of Death Note. We are going to be making a thriller death game type manga, anyone hyped? Oh and it has a thick chick as angel too!
Me! Me! Me! Me! Me!!!!!!
My initial reaction: Well, maybe the author could fix the issues with Death Note and possibly for once just make an actually well written death game manga.
After reading: Yeah..this is definitely not them...not buying that..this high-key makes me feel like an idiot for thinking that there could be a decent death game story..
Anime starts airing: Yooooo guys this shit is a masterpiece, it's going so good. And trust me, this
...
initial rating was like a 7.8+ but yeah you saw the rating now..
Me when anime starts: Guys, I read the manga and tbh, it's not good, just a really poorly written death game piece of shit..
Those same people at episode 24: Worst anime ever.
The story is a quite a unique one, never to be seen in an another anime that was named Mirai Nikki and the characters designs are hundred percent not copied from Inuyashiki or Gantz. This is a story about a depressed edgy ass kid who wants to die but gets op powers and now is gonna be god if he wins the game. Yay
Ok.
The art is some of the worst to be ever seen in recent anime years. It's so generic and you could clearly see them lazing off at many scenes. The manga art was great but this is worse and so much worse. You will notice too. The character designs are copy pasted too of many others chads haha but at least the manga art was good which covered up for that.
Sound is fitting for a death game and the voice acting isn't half that bad, the opening rocks and is really similar to the feeling the show really gives off with its premise and the ending theme tries to be deep with its visuals but I don't think any of Platinum End is deep, the music was low-key fire though.
Characters are some of the worst ever, edgy, cliché, retarded and mentally in need of help. These guys are so poorly constructed and written so badly. The author made copy pasted in terms of personalities too, you can clearly see these type of characters in every other shiity death game anime but the problem is that they are worse.
I sound like a total hater when I say that and that's true because this show was just that bad of an experience, couldn't even turn off my brain here to watch it.
I don't enjoy this anime because it's very poorly written, loose ended, edgefest with no likable characters and garbage art with an even more garbage story. I stil can't seem to believe the authors of Death Note made it, at least Mirai Nikki was enjoyable unlike this shit.
This show fails the basics and can't find a place for itself, high-key one of the worst anime of last year and quite possibly one of the worst from this year too.
I don't recommend this to you in any case, even if you liked shows such as Mirai Nikki, this just isn't it.

************NO SPOILERS************
Ousama Ranking: How to create expectations and miserably fail to reach them!
Ousama Rankings is a cliché story about a boy named Boji and his journey to become stronger. It's filled with many plot elements found in the old anime times, it has many of these old shonen clichés and it doesn't even try to make its own but adding anything new except it's very own bullshit logic.
"Bro you need to get
...
into OS, it's a very mature seinen anime that is just too good. You will love it!"
Okay so I can get how most people will love it - good fights and animation,
tries to be emotional and does hit for many, bloody and decent storytelling but in no way do I get how this is a mature seinen anime. The characters are dumb as hell and are written similarly to shonen characters with no depth, and these characters have rushed development and the same personalities that you have probably seen in another anime.
The main character has tons of bad plot armour which doesn't help me like it either, the author did something else to him very early which I won't spoil but it's bad for the future of the series and could quite possibly make it worse.
One other thing about this show is that despite being 23 episodes into the story, we have barely explored the world, and that time has been wasted on bad melodrama where the show is screaming "CRY FOR ME!!!!!!" and with no good reason as to why. I am not a fan of melodrama, especially when it's trying so bad to make you cry but I don't have a good reason to.
The story is told in a simple way, with nothing that felt bad, it's portrayed nicely, despite the other flaws, the storytelling is decent and I like it, it's also why the show is rated as high it is right now but sadly, this is the best part.
But this show is very inconsistent in its tone, you see, right now they are showing some tragic scene but the next moment, very conveniently the tone changes to that of showing hope. Now that is not wrong, every shonen does that but OR does it so conveniently fast that it ends up being bad.
This show is also very predictable. I have seen many shonen, and as I mentioned it uses those same clichés and so, the experience is very predictable, you can expect almost everything except its own bullshit haha.
The music is absolutely fantastic, and the visuals are great too. Especially in the second opening, it was very fire and I can't describe how much I like it, it's that good.
Sadly this show wastes too much time on unnecessary plot elements, and that time could have been spent to explore more of its fantasy setting, and develop the characters nicely instead of giving "rushed" development.
The execution was in my opinion very bad, the show tries to be so much but really just fails even at the most basic things. I am not a fan of how it does what and I very sadly am disappointed badly.
Overall?
Just ask yourself, Are you new to anime? Do you like shonen? If the answer is yes, then without a doubt, you should watch OR but don't expect it to be mature or well written. Truly a disappointment to me.
No, this review is no troll.

-D.GRAY.MAN-
A shonen I didn't think I would like but fell in love.
My expectations: A basic shonen, filled with a messy plot, probably full of cliches and uninteresting characters. A bland manga with nothing special. Keep in mind, I had finished the anime before getting to it, so I thought the bads will be more than the goods as in the anime but oh boy!
What I get: Amazing cast of villain, a great main character, insane reveals and a really enjoyable story. The tragic story of Allen Walker and how the author does it is absolute perfection.
-STORY-
Unlike most other shonen, this one has a got
...
an overall dark and creepy tone to it. The story, while certainly not the most unique is well written and honestly how its all portrayed is just breathtaking! The comedy blend, with the characters and the drama are feel so fresh. The characters have unique personalities and roles, you really get attached to them because how the story is set up.
-ART-.
The art is maybe not the best but still great. At the beginning sure its not that good but the art style does change over the chapters and becomes really good. And when it needs to the art can get godly! Pretty good to be honest.
-CHARACTERS-
Amazing, well developed, but admittedly some characters weren't as interesting or the best to be fair but the main characters are awesome, extremely interesting and you love them. Allen Walker, especially is the greatest shonen protagonist of all time, his backstory, the authors presentation, his personality are very likeable and amazing.
-ENJOYMENT
How do I express the joy I get while I read it, how can I? Its literally 10/10 in this regard, the characters, the hype, the art and after the wait for chapters, its just so enjoyable.
Peak Shonen, the best of its kind. Beautifully Tragic and well crafted. A true piece of unforgettable art!

Jujutsu Kaisen is your typical shonen with tons of hype around it, almost everyone in the anime community has heard about it. But is it worth the read? Or is it just another overrated piece of shit manga. First let me clear this, a generic story doesn't equal to a bad manga. With this being cleared let me inform that its worth it. It may not be the best for new manga readers as the art is style is quite confusing and some thing happen but aren't shown in the manga, the art style is quite rough but works well for the action. Gojo might
...
be edgy but he is a badass character done right. A common misconception in anime and manga community is that badass doesn't equal to good, but that depends. Depends on how it is done. Jujutsu Kaisen does it very nicely. The characters are all likeable, nicely presented but the one flaw with them is that they aren't used to their absolute full potential. That can be said for a lot of things in Jujutsu Kaisen but it does what it does right. The moments hit hard, some are predictable and many are very out of the world and kind of quite unexpected. It gets really dark for a shonen in the shibuya arc (in a good way. Its very enjoyable and the dialogues and the comedy are also great.
Overall a good manga to read, better than most shonen. That being said, let me inform you that despite the manga being good, the anime is much better of an experience, with top notch animated fights and the comedy being even more entertaining. Its not confusing like the manga too.
Recommendations if you liked JJK
-Chainsaw Man (really similar in story, tons of character personalities are similar but JJK is still much better)
-Bleach (Very similar in themes and atmosphere)
-Noragami (similar in concept of cursed spirits, op characters)
Rating: 7/10
At best: 8.5
At worst: 6.5

What is that one manga that you really love and is very inspiring?
Yep, that's Blue Period.
Blue Period may not be the usual action focused or one that tries to make you depressed. It doesn't try to be special that way. However instead, the manga excels in what it is trying to do. Be an inspiring, emotional and relatable read to the more older audience in the medium.
So, what is it about?
The story is about Yaguchi Yatora, a high school student who is not only very unsatisfied and doesn't feel anything with what he does but also, doesn't have the type of money
...
to waste around or have second chances. But things change.
He discovers the art of drawing. That's it, and then, he makes the choice of making money through art. While yes, art is not something very popular or even relatable, the manga presents his life with obstacles that are often in a students life. And it does it so well, that its a masterpiece at what it was trying to do.
Is the art good, in this art manga?
Yes, it is. It may not be the most phenomenal drawing but its good. The character designs are great as well. This being a monthly manga, you always get a good amount of 40+ plus pages per chapter of greatness.
How are the characters?
The characters are amazing. Such relatable characters, the fun, the emotion and everything experienced with them makes you just really like Blue Period. They are definitely the top-of-top in many regards, the relationships really feel real and something that is very relatable in the life of a student.
How is the main character is particular?
Amazing. I can't tell how much I relate to this guy. The challenges he faces, and how he resolves them is brilliant. The main character is not a pro at art or something, it's indeed very much of a challenge, one that is full of different emotions, feeling and energy.
Do I enjoy it?
If it wasn't obvious, and I need to say it: Yes! Absolutely! The binge has been nothing but a very fun read. And I am so grateful that it has 40-50 pages every chapter and many dialogues too! Though it being monthly always saddens me. I will be re-reading it entirely again at some point too!
Overall thoughts on it?
This is the epitome of an inspiring manga. Everything is done right, nothing is wrong and it is peak at what is trying to be. I enjoyed every chapter, I had fun, I had tears in my eyes, I was moved. A manga about discovering passion done perfectly. Easily 10/10

Have you ever heard of demon slayer? Yes, that anime which everyone loves and calls a masterpiece, one that will be written down in the history as one of the best shonen's to have ever existed. Its for sure that its gonna happen but is demon slayer really worth it? Simple Answer, fuck no.
This has been a complete down hill after it's first season which unfortunately also wasn't very pleasing to me. But. This is worse. All of the problems from last season continue, we get even more asspulls but the best episode now being one from this season, demon slayer is nothing but rotten
...
food that just sickens you.
For one, it has the same generic, overused and absolutely garbage formula that not only makes a predictable story but one that has very little to enjoy about, no, no. I take that back! It has nothing to enjoy about! Its very frustrating watching a show that has no surprises for you and even the comedy makes you feel like drinking vomit!
The comedy is basically:
Character one: Chasing!
Character 2: Screaming!
Character 3: Screaming!
Wow, the author somehow thought that's comedy, Yes! Screaming and running characters chased by more character doing the same thing is funny! Absolutely! That's hilarious! Who won't laugh? I mean, that's the funniest thing ever!
The garbage, random and cringe dialogue make it worse. The repetitive cycle of this type of similar comedy (yes, they call that comedy) and it absolutely not improving is why this has to be the most unfunny thing I have ever seen in a (not dark, imagine thinking demon slayer is dark hahaha) shonen ever do. It's not hard to make good comedy, you have chainsaw man and jujutsu kaisen as an example. Despite both of them being shonen, they nail the comedy aspect! One might do it by bringing in perverted jokes or characters with funny goals instead of the "very" original and serious goal that Tanjiro has of saving her demon sister.
Jokes are absolutely not perverted, none of them crack a funny or sex related joke. (this is something an interesting shonen does hehe) Not even once! The plot is set up to be either be fighting or unfunny and uninteresting characters who are doing random bullshit or on quests on hunting some fucking goddamn demon! One reason why the comedy also fails is that how the author made the characters.
The characters and demons are supposed to be the same boring thing you have probably seen in every fucking old shonen. There is no good character development or there's none! Every fucking character, be it the main character, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Nezuko or even the Hashira's are super annoying. The character writing is also fucking hilariously bad.
For Tanjiro, its because he is too kind (it makes him feel like every shonen protagonist) and keeps spitting random and unfunny stuff.
Zenitsu is such a weakling and boring character, every time he is on screen he makes you vomit. He is a simp with nothing but this one trait of being a simp, his time on screen is either him fighting or him being a simp. Fucking whaaat??
Inosuke keeps shouting for no good reason. His character is very aggressive, making him an annoying retard.
Nezuko does nothing aside from some fighting and she is not cute.
Every hashira's is also very unfunny and keep speaking random bullshit.
The art and animation may be the best part about demon slayer, for one the animation is done by ufotable a studio so top tier that every other shonen looks garbage in comparison, but I am not a fan of the animation style, its very flashy and the scenes aside from fighting aren't very pleasing to me. The character designs are also awful and I don't like them.
The sound is like every shonen at least decent, the second seasons opening and ending theme wasn't bad but didn't feel as good as last seasons. The voice acting is amazing but its being put into a terrible show with ass dialogue where the voice actors need to shout or talk weirdly because that's how demon slayer's dialogues supposedly are.
The fights apparently the best part about it are terrible, for episodes its like as:
Demon Too strong.
Heroes Can't win.
Random Power Up.
Monster Kill.
This cycle is repeated to the point where its the formula of demon slayer. And this is one of the many reasons why demon slayer is one of the most boring anime to ever exist.
I wish ufotable gave this kind of treatment to some good seinen manga such as Gantz hehe. (Joking, Joking, Gantz can never be adapted lol)
To sum up the issues with Demon Slayer-
-Them not to use much flashy colors
-The comedy felt very forced to me, they could have cracked perverted jokes similar to csm
-could have tried having more original plot twists unlike the same ones we have seen in other shonen
-character writing needed more originality
-dialogues felt cringe and out of place
-very formulaic
I understand that this might be a good anime for beginners but this is absolutely NOT a good show if you are looking for something more than bad jokes, great animated fights or a predictable story. Demon Slayer is unfortunately a terrible show which gets much undeserved love. If you are a beginner and want some actually good shows to watch, then try
-Made In Abyss (s tier adventure)
-Violet Evergarden (great drama)
-Barakamon (God Tier sol)
-Monster (peak mystery)
-Odd Taxi (well written, solid mystery)
-Samurai Champloo (fun, memorable)
-Cowboy Bebop (fun, memorable)
-Vinland Saga (good character, few issues related to character writing but most is fixed next season)
-Mushishi (the god of sol)
-Jujutsu Kaisen (a much better shonen than demon slayer)
-Death Note (good mystery)
-Kaguya sama (very funny)
-Fate Series (great)
-The Promised Neverland (obviously not season 2)
-Bakuman (fun, inspiring)
-Berserk (old version baka)
-Hunter x Hunter (good shonen)
-Houseki no Kuni (good characters, many issues in s1 but good)
-Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (nicely tied plot)
-re:zero (mind fuck)

Orient is a show where the source material is just extremely awful crap but then we get the anime. It's even worse. Why you ask? The anime is worse because, it has awful animation. And the only reason why I got some enjoyment out of the Orient manga was because of its art which was fucking brilliant and carried the entire manga at the beginning.
Though for those liking Orient or finding it even decent, I have some good and bad news for you. The good being, the manga gets drastically better and more original and the bad well is that one of the upcoming
...
arc has literally almost no focus on the main character. Though the arc just ended and we are past that point so yeah. I don't think this manga is completely hopeless right now, it might become decent or at least be much better.
Let's get to this.
Story basically. Every fricking thing here is either been used in an old shonen or is a completely copy pasted and over used idea. Nothing original and I am NOT stretching this. Absolutely not. It is full of boring and predictable clichés. It adds nothing new to anything. The entire concept is super stupid. How do humans end up being stupid enough to worship the monsters that once they hated. And why did the whole bushi are the bad guys thing came in. Random and extremely bad story. Its super garbage even from shonen standards. Trust me, this type of plot and story does nothin but make me laugh my ass off even in th serious moments. What a joke. WHAT A JOKE.
Oh boy, this is where it gets worse. Let me tell you something, I enjoy the Orient manga more than the KnY manga. And I would have loved the Orient anime more than KnY if it had gotten the same ufotable treatment. No, it's not necessary to have that kind of anime but if it were even decent, I wouldn't have had much of a problem. But the problem is that it is an extremely cheap project with garbage animation and no passion put into it. The bigger problem is that the manga has some extremely hard to animate scenes but seeing how they are handling scenes as simple as walking just makes me do nothing but loose every expectation of them pulling that right. You have a scene where the main character is killing a oni and his weapon goes through the oni and oh boy, that scene has blurry art and animation, the blood is not shown properly, the action is super weak.
The opening theme is fun, it gives you the fun old shonen feel, didn't hate it. The ending too, was nice. Nothing special in the music or visuals but it wasn't bad, at least the music. Nothing outstanding too, keep in mind. But listening to it constantly just doesn't have the same effect as the first few times, you don't feel the energy, this is something the opening should DO because two reasons:
1. Orient is a fun and energetic shonen manga.
2. Most shonen nail the music and be fun to listen to even on constant watches, so orient not being able to do it is very weird.
Characters...oof. Nothing original or unique. Every characters personality is soo overused and Orient is not only using many concepts again, but it adds nothing new to it. You have your usual sad back story guy, the cheerful and always happy MC and the your usual girl. Just super bland and uninteresting.
Enjoyment, in this anime is NOTHING. You (at least me) can't enjoy it in any goddamn way. Super boring and frustrating to watch. If you are new to anime and don't tend to think critically about an anime, then maybe this is worth it. I am not trying to hate on it for being a cliché shonen but this does everything unoriginal up until now in the anime plus the art and animation suck. My disappointment is immeasurable.
Overall, just skip it. Magi was such a good manga until final arc but this...
