Naria Girls is a miserable excuse for a magical girl series. The animation is absolutely appalling. Though the poster shows passable character designs for the girls, most of the show is animated with horrific CG character models that don’t work well with the background at all. The characters rarely even move significantly, standing in the same spots with different backgrounds each episode. When movement is made, it’s rigid with parts of character’s bodies often cutting through their clothes or hair. The only remotely acceptable pieces of animation were in the opening and closing sequences as well as the transformation scenes, all three of which still

make season one Love Live dance numbers look like masterpieces by comparison. Characters and plot are nonexistent. Episodes primarily consist of characters standing in the same position each episode talking to one another with dialogue so boring that l could no longer follow the conversation. I'm usually fine with characters that fall into very typical anime tropes because a good plot can use those tropes to its advantage, but when characters are defined only by their trope and they have no plot to support them, the whole show just becomes a predictable mess. I’m one of those people who can enjoy horrible shows and books like Magical Girl Site and The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku and laugh at their hilarious, but passionately presented failures. No enjoyment came out of watching this. There was absolutely no effort put into this show on any level of production, and it clearly shows.

Doki Doki Precure is tied with Kira Kira Precure a la Mode for my favorite Precure season and is one of my favorite anime of all time. The overall tone of this show is uniquely happy and up lifting. All of the protagonists carry this optimistic attitude towards achieving their goals. Aida especially is a great role-model for both child and adult viewers with her forgiving nature and constant desire to help others. She's the perfect type of person to lead a group of heroes. Although I typically don't enjoy lackeys of the main villain in anime, my personal favorite character is Ira. His smug

attitude is very entertaining thanks to both the show's writing and the Japanese vocal performance by Tanaka Mayumi. The art is beautiful with distinct designs for each Precure and villain. The action is well choreographed, as it is in the rest of the Precure franchise. Though the Precure typical monster of the week plot line, the characters and their strong friendship with one another keep every episode engaging. The messages this show gives to their audience about friendships and other relationships are very well presented and are applicable in the real world. I would highly recommend Doki Doki Precure to any fan of the magical girl genre. This was my introduction to Precure, and as long as you don't watch the English dub, I believe that it's a great starting point for anyone hoping the get into this franchise.

I had the wonderful opportunity to see this movie in theaters, and I am glad to say that it was a worthwhile experience. Getting the bad stuff out of the way first, I was not a fan of the english voice acting. I hadn't watched Digimon since I was a kid, so the 4-Kids level of quality hit me like a truck. That's not to say that every voice was awful. Yamato and T.K. sounded pretty good. But most of the cast, especially the digimon, had pretty distracting voices that took you out of the experience. Most of the animation was fine, but whenever the

characters were falling, it was obvious that the animator had just drawn one frame and was shaking it back and forth. On a character level, I found Mimi very annoying, making the same self-pitying speech over and over again. Ty telling her to shut up was probably the most satisfying scene in this whole movie. I was surprised to find myself laughing multiple times during this movie. Each character's personality was distinct and enjoyable. Most jokes hit the exact right points and kept me engaged. Similarly, this movie is also very good at making dramatic scenes engaging through the character's emotional dialogue and animation. The message this movie has about the concept of growing up and a person changing over time was really well thought out. The movie is aware of their target audience; the now young adults who experienced the Digimon franchise as children, and really speaks to them with this general theme. Without spoiling anything, the last scene of the movie was a very satisfying conclusion that left me excited for the next film.

Mahou Shojo Site is not a good magical girl show under any serious context. For any of those going into this show expecting to see Madoka Magica, take this review as your warning. Mahou Shojo Site not only fails as a dark magical girl show, but as a magical girl show in general. Whereas magical girl shows typically try to establish the main character and basic magical systems in the first episode, this show prefers to make up the magical nonsense as it goes along and only establishes that the main character has an overly tragic backstory that gives her no personality to get attached

to. She just seems like this object getting constantly abused by the plot. Her best friend isn't that much better. She indeed has a personality, but that personality only consists of dumping exposition at convenient times and being overall reserved and depressed constantly with no motivation to better herself. Anyone else who's seen generally making the main character's life miserable are psychopaths with seemingly no motivation at all other than causing this girl in particular as much pain as humanly possible. I don't even care enough about Rina to talk about her. Nijimin is this shows one saving grace in terms of characters. She has an adorable idol that completely offsets all of the melancholy teenagers around her. She's upbeat and a nice breath of fresh air in a series that tries to beat moral dilemmas into you every five seconds, despite these dilemmas not being engaging in the slightest. How can they be if the characters experiencing them are thin as paper? Art is overall very good in this series. I enjoy the different character designs and the show's over all atheistic. I question the directoral choice to have flying CG sperm in the end credits, but I at least have something to laugh at after 24 minutes of suffering. I recruited my boyfriend to sit through episode two with me post ranting to him about episode one, and he suffered just as much as I did whilst yelling at the television, so I think it's safe to say that this is a show you should skip unless you enjoy making fun of bad shows, which luckily, I do.

Comic Girls was a pleasant surprise. I was a bit worried at the beginning of episode one when the show cut between a manga author and editor. I assumed it would be similar to Bakuman, a show I wasn't very fond of. Luckily, the show takes a unique turn in showing the daily lives of well-known manga author roommates instead of aspiring manga authors still living with their parents. The show is well designed, with care put into the backgrounds as well as the character designs. Each girl has a unique and rounded personality, separating them from tropes associated with the slice of life genre.
...
Situations these characters are put into for humor are far different from most comedy anime, making for great some jokes. These girls also love their jobs more than anything, and are as much fans of the manga medium as they authors and artists. You can see the characters bond over this common interest, despite each girl's writing style being completely different and being at different stages in their careers. My only real gripe with this show other than the start of the first episode is putting all of these girls in school. Fortunately, the characters don't stay there long and both the girl's preparation for school and the school's design are very creative. I'm just a bit frustrated that this show couldn't just be about the lives of adults working creative jobs. Other than those very minor problems, this show was surprisingly entertaining. I'd recommend this to any manga fan or anyone looking for a slice of life comedy to fill their time.

The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku is easily the most bizarre light novel I have read in my life. I had already listened to the song this story is based on before going in and I can easily say that the song could have NEVER prepared me for the category five hurricane I was about to walk into. The story starts out being very typical as a rather generic school life light novel with the only real difference being that it takes place in university rather than high school and one of the main characters in an AI. Due to the simplicity, I found myself getting
...
bored and stopped reading for about six months before finally bothering to pick it up again. I was very disappointed in the chapter in which Miku and her collage student caretaker go to Harajuku due to it having no traits in story differentiating it from your typical shopping mall when the real Harajuku is very unique in it's style and culture. Right after that chapter, though, this story flies off the hinges into making no sense in the most hilarious way imaginable. This at least pulled me out of my hibernation long enough to laugh my butt off at some of the ridiculous concepts. The ending to this book is a complete masterpiece and you can only truly find its unintentional hilarity after sitting through the first two thirds. I also found it kind of funny how two of the story's "main characters" are completely pointless until they're used as plot devices in the last third of the book. The main guy's little sister didn't even really have to exist at all because she's only important in the post script scene, which I almost didn't even read. If you are a person like me who enjoys reading terrible stories for the giggles, I can't recommend this book enough. Trust me, sitting through the slog of the beginning will pay off. However, if you are a Vocaloid fan and are looking for a song adaptation that will entertain you, I wouldn't waste my time on this. Bad End Night: Insane Party and The Story of Evil are better Vocaloid dramas to fill your time with.

The primary problem that I have with this show is that it's dreadfully boring. This OVA doesn't even bother to give the audience anything resembling a character introduction before we are thrown into this predictable, yet at the same time, nonsensical "journey". There's very little plot to be seen in this anime. The girl's crush and jealousy surrounding the one male in this show comes out of utter nowhere and the story gives us no reason to care about her plight. The thin conflict has an equally shallow resolution with no weight to it. The animation and art was also a bit unsettling. Characters rarely
...
blink, and have unusually large and detailed eyes, even for anime. Movement of characters is often rigid and unnatural, and on more than one occasion, a character would speak without moving their mouth. The only thing that makes this resemble a watchable experience is the few talented voice actors whose abilities were wasted on this overall horrible OVA.

Sennen Sensou is a rather generic story, and I realized this right from the beginning. As of right now Sennen Sensou is, and will likely continue in being, a very typical and predictable fantasy adventure manga. This is very disappointing because I think this story really has some things going for it that a lot of these other fantasy stories don’t have. The demons that the main heroes are fighting against are very interesting. The character designs are also very fun and creative with bright colors in a medieval setting, which is a nice contrast. However, the characters are flat as paper. Most of them
...
don’t have any defining characteristics and I could describe each of them just as an archetype: Ouji is the hero, Lulu is the loli, Anna’s the ‘main girl’, and so on. The only character I would consider remotely interesting is the blacksmith girl, and even she doesn’t break the usual loli girl conventions. In terms of the story, nothing is very dramatic or exciting. The character’s long term goals are very shallow, making any subplots boring. The overarching war plot and action is only good when none of the melodrama from the subplot seeps in. Overall, Sennen Sensou is your typical shonen fantasy story. I would recommend Deltora Quest if you want something better.

I gave this show a 7 for cuteness alone. I know that might seem a bit odd, but as someone who has suffered through atrocious short anime such as Ikemen Sengoku, 3-Nen D-Gumi Glass no Kamen, and (gags) Pingo in the City, I have to appreciate an anime short series that does not make my ears bleed and pray for the day my eyes fall out of my skull. Because Bananya is cute. Very cute. The type of cute that warms the hearts of everyone. ls there a good story? No. ls there a story at all? Still no. But even if all this show
...
has going for it is it's cuteness level, I still can't find anything to necessarily hate about this show. It's just something to relax to or to make you happy when your depressed.

This show is a favorite of mine. I adore the Victorian art style with washed out and dark colors to bring out a feeling of fear. This show gives a first impression of being a reverse harem show with many hot vampires chasing after the affections of one girl, but I'm very glad it didn't turn out that way. All of the vampires are evil, sadistic, perverted, and are supposed to make you uncomfortable. My favorite scenes of the show are when Kanato goes through his mood swings or moments of insanity. l enjoy the moments in the show when they delve into the vampire's
...
individual backstories, even if they don't get entirely fleshed out. If there's a flaw in this show, then it's that the last four episodes try too hard to cram a story in where it isn't needed and that the story lacks a satisfying conclusion. I would recommend this to anyone interested in dark anime in the Victorian art style.
