you probably don't remember me, i used to be quite active here. due to lack of time and interest in anything new i haven't really been using this very often but in accidentally stumbling upon it recently i've decided to attempt getting back into the swing of things and perhaps try a few new mangas/animes. the app mangarock has to take full accountability credit for making it so easy to fall back in love. i used to say i would attempt to push the boundaries away from my typical shoujo/josei tastes but i've fully given up on that. i am romantic trash.
phase two
second step, rereading red river. this is one of my all time favourite mangas. give me a strong female lead and a male lead who allows her to grow and i'm a goner.
also finally finished eden of the east and understand what the fuss was about. i'm really bad at giving up on anime if it doesn't immediately grab me, especially if its not a shoujo so i'm bizarrely proud of myself.
and lastly, attempting in absolute vain to find another historical manga with a strong female lead. feel free to hit me up if you think you can point me in the right direction.
[ the pledge i, hannah, will give every anime i start at least ten episodes to warm up into the swing of things before deciding to quit watching. i will also attempt to try and heed the advice of friends on new things to watch, and keep gushy shoujo romantic fantasy to a minimum. ]
You've been out of MAL for a while but I've come across a little bit of a dry patch in terms of anime right now. I've watched a few episodes of a bunch of shows and, honestly, I'm not sure if I want to finish all of them because I just feel kind of bored.
I also haven't seen a good shoujo rom-com in a while. Do you have any shoujo rom-com recommendations (or general ones) of shows that I will be able to finish easily and not get bored while watching? I need to fill the "little hole in my heart".
Why thanks! I think I will. If you ever return, I'd be interested to hear how your return to anime and manga and your personal goals worked out in the end
Same! I love those strong female leads. My manga tastes vary from dark psychological thrillers, comedies, and rom-coms, and sometimes even Yuri and Yaoi to be honest.
Well I just finished Dragon Head. Have you read that one? It's a good apocalyptic-style story, and the beginning arc (with the subway) is exceptionally good. :-)
Yeah, you're welcome. I actually totally forgot about the comment I made on Emma, and I haven't read it yet. I hope to pick it up soon. And I totally get how fussy you'd be for manga. Sometimes I just drop something two chapters in because I don't like a character, I don't like the art, or even that I think it's too light and happy (don't like those kinds of mangas).
I guess you're dead right now, but I stumbled across your profile looking at your review for Emma. I'm planning to read it soon, and your review was excellent.
I also found your requests to not give up on certain shows to resonate with mine. Every time I encounter a series I immediately dislike I tend to drop it immediately. I appreciate that you're working to keep an open mind. I hope it's working for you. I'd like to try the same!
I think if you're doing something you are happy with, even if it's not what you dreamed you'd be doing, then you've found your way out of the tatami galaxy.
Things are alright with me, in just under two weeks I'm going to Prague. I love it there, and can't wait to be back.
So, did you actually go to Oxford in the end? Did you live the rose-coloured campus life and find yourself a cute boy or girl?
I don't even know where to begin describing all the things that have happened to me, yet now I'm more or less back precisely where I was when we first started chatting. Not that I regret the journey, but I wouldn't mind a better destination.
yo hannah! i wanted to drop by and say that i will be on hiatus for a long time. i will drop by occasionally, but expect my activity level on this site to drop drastically. D:
also, yes i am very much smitten and no, don't be jealous of me! the relationship is fabulous, but my body hates me right now since i frequently stay up until like 3 or 4 am to speak to her. i then proceed to act like a zombie for work the next day, rofl. (trust me, you don't want any of that.) :P
i hope everything goes well for you while i'm gone and classes ease up! until next time! *poof*
