Sengoku Night Blood

There have been comments made about the eerie similarity of the two titles. Not only are both reverse harems adapted from otome games, the characters and the stories itself of Sengoku Night Blood has borrowed a fair amount from the older Hakuoki. Historical samurai/warlord figures remade in the image of pretty, attractive young men make up the cast that surrounds the main female character, and the plot is injected with a supernatural twist: vampires stand out the most as taking a leaf from Hakuoki's rasetsu. Ironically enough, this 'originality' between the two can be attributed to the company that created both otome games: Idea Factory or Otomate. They have been mimicking a formula that once worked for Hakuoki; but reworking it again, and again, has made it a tired and unoriginal formula by now. The works that follow in the wake of Hakuoki's success are proving more and more lackluster and unoriginal. Sengoku Night Blood strives to be original, but at best, it is a vapid, shallow show with a cast of too many characters for you to care about. The plot is all over the place and right from the get-go sounds ridiculous. If you want a more well-made, and coherent plot to follow with similar themes of samurai and the supernatural, as well as romance and historical, you would be much more satisfied with what Hakuoki has to offer.

Do you like terrible adaptations of otome games, utterly useless heroines, and a harem cast of douchebags? Then you're in the right place if you watch either of these two! Though Amnesia's guys are more decent (except for one certain yandere), its heroine who is, amazingly also named Yui, a complete and utter doormat with zero personality. I cannot remember any instance where this girl said anything of substance, or the paltry few words and sounds she's capable of making. Compare and contrast Yui of Diabolik Lovers, and marvel at the similarities!
