"I have no idea what is going on"
That is what you're going to be saying to yourself around the 10-minute mark of episode 1. Zoku has a very elaborate and complex story, which is great and all, except the writer uses ambiguous metaphors to explain things and nonchalantly breaks the fourth wall.
"If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss will gaze into you."
"If you can't be the medicine, be the poison; otherwise you're just plain water"
Those are two examples of complicated quotes from the anime that you can, stop, and spend hours trying to interpret just one of the quotes. I promise you that all
...
the other whack things that come out of these guy's throats can have you bewildered and have you wondering what the hell they meant. But if you can get over an anime that is ambiguous, philosophical, always breaking the fourth wall, and makes you have to wonder if they were being literal or metaphorical when they say nonsense, then you would like this anime.

I have no idea what just happened.
This short seems more like a "look how good we can animate" short.
Story... what?
Characters? What characters?
Every description of the anime... what?
There really is nothing to it, and had this been any longer than three minutes, I would of had given up pretty soon. Its music is annoying, if you watch it I suggest you just turn it off. It is the same sound over and over again so after hearing the first five seconds, you have heard the whole song.
Don't watch this, I felt like I could of done better things in the three minutes spent watching this.

Wow, she seems like a sweet, and loving girl. Hope nothing bad happens to her… okay um she’s eating someone. Okay their dead. Okay not sure why she just gorged out that guys eye. Wait, where did she get that severed head? Why is she eating the head… okay.
That is every episode, and honestly you just start to grow numb. But hey, I’ve got good things to say.
The Music
Watching Pupa I was shocked by the quality of the music because it is awesome. That and the voice actors know what their doing, and are perfectly suited.
The Visuals
Animation in this anime is great. Never did
...
I find myself disappointed, because it’s smooth, fits the anime, and looks great.
Characters
Personally, I loved the characters in this anime, their likable, and have great design.
Personal experience
Not sure why, but I loved watching this anime. I genuinely enjoyed myself.
Okay, well… now I have to say the bad things.
Where is this going?
The anime moves too fast for you to follow, and you can’t follow what’s happening because not only are things not explained, the anime focuses heavily on the gore side more than the story side. It’s around episode three when things feel like their going no where.
Goodbye your great ideas…
Oh hey! This is a great idea, I really like what their setting up, except nothing is done with their ideas. They’ll come up with a great idea, and do nothing with them. Had I be honest, things would be far better even if they utilized just one of their ideas.
Why did you do that? How do you know this?
Understanding the characters strange behavior is difficult. Why did you just do that? How do you know this? Even if you were to spend thirty seconds telling me the slightest bit of info, that’d make me happy because at least I know what’s going on.
Don’t watch this anime. Not only does it require a stomach to handle. It doesn’t really go anywhere. They have interesting ideas, but don’t use them. Characters are lovable but you will never understand their actions. Although I love this anime, that does not mean I suggest it, nor do I feel it is a good anime. I am sad to say this, but I believe this is a bad anime, even though I enjoyed watching it.

Ight... I'll give it to you straight.
If you hate this anime, I know how to make you love this anime... Stop treating this as a show, and begin treating it as a hentai.
If you go into this looking at it as a normal, anime you'll probably find yourself not liking it. The story is uncomfortable, and needs improvement. If they were to revise this it'd be noticeably better. Most, not all, but most characters could use some improvement because it feels like their average.
I suggest watch this alone, and when your in "the" mood. Because I did not feel like the story is all
...
that enjoyable.

It's an okay anime, I would not say it's bad, however not a fantastic anime.
The plot stays consistent throughout the entire anime, our main protagonist Komi has trouble interacting with other people around her and feels uncomfortable talking to others. Unfortunately, that is the entire anime, and it does not expand off that. You can argue that
"It's the name of the anime so obviously the anime will bring up that Komi is introverted!"
Yes except after watching an entire anime that revolves around that, you find yourself getting bored because it never feels like the plot is going anywhere.
The characters are "okay", you won't find
...
yourself hating them it is just half of the characters have the same personality and motives as each other.
"The only thing that matters in my life is being friends with Komi. I don't care about anything else. Even though I know nothing about her."
That right there describes half the cast. Except, why do they want to be her friend? Is even more irritating, they obsess over her because she is quiet, and no one knows anything about her. That or they feel bad for her because she is always alone. If they were to work on their characters, I would have enjoyed myself more watching the anime. Instead, the characters seem rather bland and their whole character can be described in one or two words.
The animation is smooth and nice looking. There is nothing else to say about it other than that.
The music sounds... okay. It's nothing noteworthy, nor something to say is a redeeming quality of the anime.
My last comment is the rewatch value, and it is average. Because the plot is so straightforward and predictable your experience will be the same as the first time you watched it.
So, I would say that if you had the option to pick an anime suggested to you and it is one that you are told you would love or pick this anime, pick the one suggested to you.

It will take thousands of years for an anime to be like this one. What makes this anime enjoyable is that it does not care what you think of it. They'll say whatever they want even if the script is controversial.
I'll give you some examples
"Sorry all you little yellow people look alike to me, and African Americans"
"You can do the broadcasting so I can get my brains banged out by Mr. Sakata..."
"Mr. Sakata's banging the living fuck out of Ms. Matsushima!"
"Sorry, but this number is not in service, hey! Maybe if they paid their fucking phone bill you could call again!"
"Get yo crackhead ass into
...
some rehab, I don't got time for this bullshit!"
"Watch out! Stupid Jew!"
This is every single episode

This anime will make you cry, not because it is sad, but because it is beautiful.
The characters are very easy to connect with, and quite loveable. You'll notice that you'll cry because of that reason. You will be so happy for them when they achieve their goals, except cry because your not able to see their smile when its there...
Only thing I must point out is that it is around the half way point that the anime goes from awesome to okay, then goes to masterpiece. The visuals are impressive, voice actors are well suited, and the audio is spectacular. This is an anime
...
I would suggest to anyone, and I would argue is an easy sell.

What in the world is going on, make up your mind already!
Story 4/10
The story to Shakugan no Shana Season 2 is poorly constructed. It kind of felt as if the writers kept changing their minds about what is going to happen while they were releasing the episodes. It begins with this love triangle that consists of almost all female characters. Konoe shows up and develops an obsession with Yuuji. Shana and Yoshida are inevitably upset that the second Konoe meets Yuuji they are spending all their time together and it seems like they have a thing going. So far so good, seems like it
...
is really going somewhere and that season 2 is going to be a love triangle. Fakeout! The second the parade went on you end up forgetting she exists, why? She gets replaced by Pheles the second she shows up. Konoe was interacting and around them nonstop then suddenly, she is gone. The next time we see her is when she gets sucked into Hecate. Now we have Pheles who is in love with Yuuiji's former self. Then shortly after we now have Tanaka sees Matake die, then right after they are lovers when the spell goes away. Seeing her die warrants him to want nothing to do with Margery because she accidentally killed Matake, then brought her back to life. Next we have that special seal in the middle of town. Now we see Yuuji thinking he is too cool to look after his mom and wants to run away with Shana. Next episode he stops looking at it like that. Yuuji! We didn't want to tell you this but you have an older brother All the while we have a character rolling up dressed up, having spikey hair. And then dies shortly after. Then Suddenly he isn't dead? And by this point, you've probably too confused to figure out what in the world is going on and stopped following. Big blue circle appears at the clock tower, Hecate shows up and steals Yuuji's heart. Funny that Yuuji puts no effort to stop her too. But it doesn't matter as he is still able to run around, and fight. Shorftly after he gets his heart back making it meaningless.
Art 8/10
The artwork isn't praise worthy, except it is not bad in anyway shape or form. For the most part it is what you would expect from any other anime.
Sound 8/10
Good voice actors that suit their characters. Audio is clear, and sound effects are good
Character 4/10
Don't expect there we be any character development in this season as there is not much. And the characters become annoying, Tanaka is all about avoiding Margery because he doesn't want to risk her getting hurt. Not like that matters though as in the fights are full of explosions that end out destroying the cities multiple times. Satou's dialogue consists of him trying to figure out whether or not he wants to be in outlaw or not. Yoshida is just way too predictable, she is always talking about Yuuji and her love for him. Margery alcohol, talking about her grudge for the silver flame, talking like a complete know it all, and then asking if there is alcohol, I'm surprised she is not dead by now from liver failure or alcohol poisoning. Then the rest of the characters are okay, but don't be mistaken, okay is not the same as good.
Enjoyment 4/10
For the most part. you will find yourself sitting through the episodes and losing interest. If you enjoy season 2, that is good to hear. But you will find yourself liking season 1 more after watching the second season of Shakugan no Shana.

Very scary in a strange way. There isn't much talking in this anime.... at all. You will find that what makes this anime scary is how disturbing it is. You'll come out feeling very uncomfortable, except you will want to watch the next episode. The lack of much talking can cause the anime to confuse the viewer, except also make them scared as well. It was a good find and I am happy I found the anime. I would suggest you watch the anime yourself, as you will get a good scare from this as well as a great time. I would have to give
...
this a 10 out of 10. I hope that you are also able to do so yourself.
