Citrus is a soap opera. It's very melodramatic from beginning to end. Citrus has a horrible plot and one-dimensional characters. It's bad. Like really bad. But it's pleasant to the eyes and entertaining.
I've never seen an anime go from one scene to another this quickly. It seems the whole purpose of each passing scene is to just get to the next sexual scene as quickly as possible, while still maintaining a semblance of story telling. Mei is an extremely annoying character who's 100% unlikable. Yuzu is dumb as it gets. Most characters really are pathetic. One exception is Matsuri, unfortunately she's quickly set aside in
...
favor of two sisters who don't bring anything to the story.
The art and animation are at times great, but devolve into an inconsistent pile of crap as the anime advances. The animation and camera spans in ep 12 are hideous, but they make the episode very funny to watch. Music is good I suppose, I didn't care much for it.
Of all the ways Citrus could have been good, the way in which it was produced is far from it. It's a deception, a shame, and it should serve as a good example of what NOT to do. People should openly shame Citrus as degeneracy that shall not be encouraged. Melodramatic stories are engaging and addictive, sure, but an anime of such low objective quality shouldn't exist.
That being said, I've enjoyed it. I laughed my ass off at how crappy and inconsistent everything was. The Yuri scenes were good, if not cringy. Matsuri was a real breath of dramatic fresh air, as she had me hope that things would take a tragic twist.
Citrus is a lot more bad than good, but one can't dispute it does have some twisted qualities. Only watch if you're a bit of a masochist.

Appalling. This was the first word I thought of while watching Paprika. It's a good thing there is a rating made specifically for this word.
Is there a line to be drawn where an artistic work simply should not exist? If anything comes close to crossing that line, it might just be Paprika.
Though it's made by a great studio, with good animation and flamboyant drawings, sitting through over an hour of some of the most grotesque works ever produced is at best painful.
I've taken a hard look at the reviews. The critical few maintain that the story is meaningless, that the characters are worthless, but that
...
this is sort of redeemed thanks to the production quality and refreshing bizarrerie.
Those giving Paprika a high rating often agree they barely enjoy the movie, but feel it *deserves* a high rating due to its uniqueness, and the fact it's produced by a renown director.
I care very little for this. I care about enjoyment. Or in any way having the feeling an experience is at least worth going through. Though I didn't enjoy Perfect Blue very much, I agreed it had many qualities. Paprika has none.
This is very possibly the worst piece of animation I've ever watched. Avoid.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS.
Damn that's a tough one, and it shames me to give this a 6. I've gone through the reviews on MAL. When the (dumb) overwhelming majority gives a flawed anime a 10, you know you've reached peak degeneracy. I suppose this is a bit reminiscent of Attack on Titan. The constant shounen wow factor brain washes people into believing this is somehow a masterpiece. In truth, it's far from it.
I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of Re:Zero. Constantly wondering how the curse came to be, why he'd resurrect, if he'd keep resurrecting, if someone around him was responsible for
...
it, whether Emilia was Satella, how powerful Beatrice and Roswaal really were, whether Subaru would find a way to tell people around him of his curse. All of these things kept me on my toes. I was kept interested, wanting more, going through each episode seeking the answers to my questions.
The second half threw this all away. Half of the characters vanished, never to be seen again. No further explanation was given as to the world Subaru found himself into. Never learned more about his curse, or the witch, or the way magic and mana and all these things worked. Poof.
Instead, there were flying white whales. Witch cult maniacs, archbishops, Sloth. Many, many factions, with too many characters to count. A whole cluster-fuck of action, as mainstream Shounen as it gets, that just kept going and going, never quite helping the story progress, never quite helping the viewer quite get where all of this was going. Little ending in the arms of Emilia, and done.
I am so disappointed. Re:zero made me laugh and cry a whole lot. It made me expect an epic masterpiece. In the end, it left me completely drained, spent watching the last 10 episodes bored like I've rarely been bored watching anime. I couldn't help but muster *why?* the entire time I was stuck watching Re:Zero die before me. No resurrecting this time.
My perspective is this: if you are a low IQ, low expectation individual, the kind to follow the mainstream view without your own nuanced critical thought, you will enjoy this. If you are okay with completely dropping a captivating story, and half the cast, in favor of MOAR ACTION, you will enjoy this. If you enjoyed Attack on Titan, you will enjoy this. If you are a pseudo-intellectual, you will enjoy this.
If none of these apply to you, you will be left severely disappointed by how the second half unfolds. I know I was.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS
Here's a quasi masterpiece that unfortunately ended in a very rushed and disappointing way.
This is one of the most mature and promising anime of 2017. A very deep poignant initial setting, that turns into an all-in combination of many, many genres (action, drama, psychological, gore, sci-fi + school-life & humor). So far so good.
Where Inuyashiki fell short, is in its couple inconsistencies in the way in which the story was being presented. Just a few frustrating aspects in the way certain characters were reacting to the happenings.
One such glaring example was the way in which Andou started crying like a
...
little bitch when learning of Hiro's suicide to save mankind. This is months after losing his friend, after he's killed hundreds of people. The reaction was just... vain. Laughable at best. Definitely not sad. Certainly not congruent.
I've overall loved this anime up until the very last episode. The inconsistencies, coupled with the very, very rushed ending, left me with a feeling of void. I was left mildly annoyed. Not sad about the story, or the characters, or their future to come. Not wondering what was next. Not hoping for more. Just slightly bummed. This is apparently derived from a manga with many chapters. I'm left wondering if 11 episodes might not have simply been much too short for the content.
With a story so unique, so intense, starting on such a high note, so well drawn, with such well placed CGI, delving into such deep subjects.. let's just say I was expecting a near masterpiece, if not one altogether.
This unfortunately isn't it, but if you can get passed imperfection, then this is absolutely worth watching.
