Shows are mostly rated based on the enjoyment I experienced while watching them. A compelling storyline and well-developed characters usually enhance my enjoyment of a show greatly.
I would say that it take a while to get great again, Ippo got a few title defenses after that 8 in total with Sawamura being the 5th. Then there is a Asian conquer arc where there are some really solid fights and development for Mashiba and Miyata, follow by the next arc what I'm not gonna spoil but let's say the rest of Ippo's generation gets more screentime and has some of the best development in the serie. while Ippo get sidelined more but has the biggest glowup in terms of his boxing skills. So it takes a while to be great again an the repetitive stays but there are some amazing moments further into the manga, ofc I'm a huge fan bc it's my favorite Anime of all time keep that in mind.
Got ya, do read a little bit of manga but it's very rare these day's. Do catch up with the Hajime no ippo manga every month or so & do pick up physical copies sometime's and read it. Did re-read Goodnight Punpun recently bc have 7 thick version (normal is 13 volume's) & it's my favorite manga even if it is very dark. But there is so much stuff I wanna catch up with again or start reading but never get to it. While Anime is easier to consume for me, not out of laziness but mainly bc I never was a big reader to begin with even as a child did I like to play with car's, play vidogame's or watch the peak cartoons era aka the 2000s
Thanks you too, we have a lot in common in our taste and it's nice meeting you too~!
Nana Osaki is one of the best female characters iv'e ever witnessed, so that's a bonus.
Love her so much, while feeling no attraction at all and solely liking for her character development.
Sadly enough we'll never see the full extend of her character, what's the biggest flaw of Nana as a Anime/Manga.
I've only seen/read the two so I can't speak w respect to Urasawa's stuff in general, but personally, Billy Bat hits harder viscerally.
I am generally sold on the "Monster is the perfect psychological mystery thriller yada yada" agenda, and do think it's a 10/10, but Billy Bat just hit harder when I first read it. Not to say it's necessarily better or anything, but I definitely would vouch for Billy Bat in a vacuum, especially because it's less known. And also I watched Monster despite reading Billy Bat, so there's that difference. It's not like Billy Bat will ever get an anime, so it's tough to compare lol.
