With 2 episodes left to go, I am nearly done with the series and I wanted to write the review capturing my experience of it up until this point instead of getting swayed by the finale. I seldom write reviews but I felt absolutely compelled to do it for this one because I am absolutely ASTONISHED at the high ratings of this show, unless it’s getting rated mostly by 10 year olds I absolutely do not see how such a rating was possible, let alone deserved. Anyway let’s move on to the review:
Story 6/10 - There is one, albeit it’s pretty weak and full of

flaws. I like the idea of an utterly failure of an adult getting another chance at life to go back and fixed his fucked up past. Up until that point the idea is great. But that’s about it. The execution is terrible. We have some Hollywood style scenes to draw in the viewer but mostly it’s a lot of mindless garbage. There is no explanation how Takamichi received power of time travel or why it works. They have barely scraped on the how, but not enough to make it make sense. They tried to pull a steins gate in a different setting but the show neither has the depth nor the mystery of steins gate to make it happen.
Setting 1/10 - I think this is the most ridiculous part of the show. Now I don’t expect anime to follow realism, but for a show that’s not dealing with supernatural powers so technically it’s set in real world, the setting and world building is completely ridiculous. You cannot enjoy any part of this show without completely throwing your brain out the window. We are dealing with literal kids who for some reason, defying all laws of anatomy and physics are able to beat grown ass high school seasoned delinquents in one kick. Mickey is the delinquent and less interesting version of one punch man.Everyone adores him for some reason but it’s unclear why beyond “he is strong”. There are no parents, we are talking nearly 700-800 people present in the main showdown fight and not ONE of these people have a family who can intervene. There are no teachers, no PTA, no student council, nothing. No police either, considering large gangs can have street fights in broad daylight. No concept of economics, these middle schoolers have mysterious sources of income to afford things like bikes and custom uniforms. Oh did I mention they are MIDDLE schoolers? Who look and act like men in their mid-late 30s? I think this show would have some leg to stand on if these were high school delinquents being held back in grades, so about 16-19 year olds. But with current setting it’s just way too ridiculous. Also no impact is shown on the school life. There are other students seemingly completely unbothered by the fact that their school/class is crawling with wannabe mobsters? And even girls feel safe interacting with them despite knowing how gangsters are? The math is not mathing.
Characters 2/10 - The characters start out as promising but then nothing really happens because they remain as such. The protagonist is completely insufferable. People defending him saying we just expect to see an alpha protagonist, no that is not the case. It’s completely okay for a protagonist to be a cry baby and wimp, provided there is character development but in case of Takamichi there is none. When he is not making ridiculous declarations he can’t live up to in 1000 years, he is usually getting his butt kicked like a sissy not even trying to defend himself or getting stronger for self defense, or he is sitting on the floor crying watching things unfold even though he already knows how they will unfold, and that’s why he was there - to stop it from happening, but he just sits there like “I have tried nothing and it didn’t work therefore I am a failure”. Bro tf?! What did you even come here for? People say the fact that he at least tries is good enough. No it isn’t. If this is too much to handle for him, he should make peace with past and move on instead of constantly going back and torturing himself reliving the fact that he is an idiot who gets physically paralysed with fear anytime something happens and can just cry on the floor instead of speaking up. He seemed to have no qualms about discussing time travel with Naoto in first episode itself but then never does it again with anyone else, even though there are people who are clearly suspicious so he could have used that opportunity to gain their alliance.
Pacing and enjoyment- 1/10 Maybe it’s because I am marathoning the series, the issues are even more glaringly obvious to me. There are some high moments (like less than 2% of the series) but mostly it’s just random visuals of people getting their faces plummeted, miraculously healing despite normal human bodies from injuries that would take months to recover, constantly crying MC, everyone else reminding him what a cry baby he is, Mickey fan club, and some bits and pieces of relevant information, plus a plot that keeps repeating itself. After 2-3 times of rinse repeat it starts getting unbearable. I want to finish this series solely out of anger how much time I wasted waiting for it to get better and it never did.
Overall 4/10- honestly score should be lower considering the lack of enjoyment, but I am giving it 4 just for the potential of what it could have been if the story was properly executed with decent world building. I can’t even say there are decent fight scenes so you can switch your brain off and enjoy the action. It’s just a bunch of cringe AF dudes throwing punches and getting KOed after one move. This is really an all around terrible anime and the ratings of this show are genuinely misleading to potential new viewers so I hope more people will look at reviews before picking this one.

I had low expectations from this anime given its score but was somehow still let down. This is typical high school romance anime, which in itself isn’t bad, but the issue is very little happens in 12 episodes and you find yourself falling asleep every so often. Still, it’s not complete garbage.

good, I can forgive this type of animation. Sound was great and pretty much all characters were likeable to at least some degree except the lead couple.
Now this is where the problem begins. I don’t think I have ever seen a character as gyrating on nerves as Haruki. He is as likeable as the sound of chalk screeching on black board. This guy along with his chick are dunce couple no 1 of the show. Towards the end of the show at least the girl redeems herself by showing some complex emotions but Haruki remains a cardboard cutout until the very end. He is supposedly in love with this girl since childhood but one thousand opportunities later he still hasn’t proposed to her even when the girl is dropping all the hints. This would be fine for couple of episodes but literally an entire series based on this is overkill. I feel like if Haruki didn’t exist or get so much screen time, this show would have scored two more points. Only saving grace were Towa and his taicho, who also follow a very used formula of outgoing popular guy falls for uncutesy loner, but despite the boring trope they were enjoyable to watch.
I can’t really recommend this anime but I don’t hate it either. It’s a fairly average time pass with some great eye catching scenery and some cute moments and that’s about it.

If life isn’t this show then what is it? Hakumei to Mikochi is definitely not an anime that will appeal to everyone, but to those it would, it’s hard to see how it will not steal their heart. If you enjoy Josei or seinen, this might be something for you. I would also say it is important to understand the delicate relationship between the two females in order to enjoy this show, so if F/F isn’t for you then you might not be able to appreciate it fully. Now on to the review:
The characters:

life, and the characters are no different. They aren’t rich, have superpowers, look like a star or have any other outstanding features, which is exactly why it’s so easy for viewer to focus on their emotions, thoughts and enjoy the atmosphere of melancholy. Hakumei is a dependable go-getter that works hard and kicks up her feet to relax harder once she is done. Mikochi is very sweet without being annoying, and it’s easy to see her dedication to Hakumei, even though she is a person of her own and has hobbies, friends etc. besides these two there are new characters in every episode and level of creativity in character designs is truly enchanting. The idea of tiny human like people co existing with working animals is really cute. Even if I didn’t remember all the side characters, at no point did I feel annoyed by introduction or exit of too many characters.
The story:
There isn’t any so to say, which is the beauty of it. Each “segment” of episode is like looking at photograph and trying to understand what was going on in that very exact moment that was captured in the frame. There is no beginning or end, it is simply a journey of living life with tranquility and love each passing day. And what more could one ask for? Although each standalone short story was amazing in itself, what really made me clap my hands like an excited little kid was the finale, which is one of most satisfying show ends for me in recent times.
Enjoyment:
A total ten. I took a long time to finish this series because I really wanted to savour it and prolong the watching period as long as possible, not knowing if I will come across something so relaxing again. I usually would put on a episode right before I would go to bed and it put my mind at such ease that I could feel all day’s tensions and fatigue melting away. A show like this is perfect for working adults who may not have the time to sit down and watch something with dedication, because no matter how many days you skip before watching next episode, the journey just goes on.
Art:
I mean... who doesn’t love those tiny chibi humans? They are adorable and that’s just all I have to say about it. The sceneries are also beautiful and take you right in the middle of nature. There’s not much to say except that it’s fantastic.
Sound:
It was fitting for the show, not something I will remember for a long time but definitely complimented the show very well.
Overall:
Like I said before this series might be a hit or miss. This is not a attack on Titan or romantic comedy or any of those sorts. Nothing is going to happen. There are very few highs and lows in the series. The whole point of it is to go along this journey with the two main characters and get lost in their everyday life, however simple and mundane it may be. And in those moments you will realise this series will slowly slip into your heart and make you all kinds of warm and fuzzy. If that sounds like something you would enjoy, give it a try.

Boy oh boy did no one tell this series’ creators that bullying is neither fun nor funny. To normalise such a horrible practice under cloak of cuteness is not only distasteful but it’s also reckless given the target audience. This Takagi girl is a total piece of shit and trying to make her cutesy doesn’t rid her of her utterly horrible, evil personality. She mercilessly, constantly teases the protagonist to the point it has a real impact on his life and personality, plus he seems constantly stressed and nervous because of it, and somehow we are supposed to enjoy this “humour”. an anime. It would be one thing if it was just offensive, the anime is not even funny. The gag patterns are repeated over and over several times per episode and there is no element of surprise. I literally didn’t laugh even once on any of the scene so what is even the point of this shit show existing. Very rarely do I drop anime, specially popular ones, this early on into the series. But this one was so painful and cringe to watch I just cannot come up with a single reason to continue.

Three episodes in and I am seriously struggling not to drop this anime. Granted I happened to pick up this anime just by chance and not specifically for BL/manga adaptation. I feel like although a fair attempt has been made to give characters a mysterious edge, the development is so slow it’s difficult not to zone out. So far I have only continued to watch out of will to do so, not because the story is keeping me hooked. I don’t feel justified in giving the series bonus goodie points just because it’s a BL so I am going to rate it as a 5-average

for now. The characters look nice, there is some attempt to flesh out personalities, the art and music is good. Overall mediocre so I would recommend you start watching it with low expectations and see how you feel about the first few episodes before deciding to drop. That’s what I will do.

*Review may have some spoilers, but mostly talks about issues with writing and story telling in generic way. The intent is to help prospective reader decide if it's worth reading 700+ chapters of manga.
I started watching and reading bleach the same year it released. Let me introduce you first hand to the suffering of many bleach fans such as myself after this ordeal of 15 years.

What made bleach popular:
This might be outdated 15 years later, so if you start bleach today none of it might even hold true anymore because manga/anime has changed so much since then. Bleach in its own time was revolutionary. From the style of character designs, to the concept of soul society, to the distinctly emotionally intelligent/melancholic way the characters expressed themselves, to a huge line up of characters with amazing powers and untapped potential, bleach had it all. And boy did it deliver! Bleach's soul society arc is one of the best (maybe even the best) battle manga I came across in my time at least. The fight scenes were amazing, the characters were unique, the momentum of story telling was explosive. Could you ask for more in shounen? You couldn't, but Kubo delivered even more! The complex relationship dynamics between the characters, be it Rukia and Ichigo, or Byakuya and Renji or Rukia and Byakuya or Soifon and Yoruichi (SPECIALLY these two, because yuri hints in shounen in those times were an anomaly), it was these dynamics that made readers invested in the series like no other shounen. Readers wanted to know if Ichigo can master an attack, but more than that they also wanted to know what is he feeling in his heart. Even the relationship between Ichigo and the soul of his zanpaktou is very dramatic and full of mysteries.
What led to the slowdown:
Now comes the period when soul society arc is over. Kubo has pretty exhausted all the awesome plot devices and character designs he started out with and needs to come up with a new story. In the meantime he still had bonus material to work with like Ichigo's hollow transformation. The real issue begins with Hueco mundo arc, from completely unoriginal plot to long dragged out fights, to gazillions of unfleshed characters with same faces/personalities to seemingly non stop ass pull winning moves, the dominoes started to crumble one after the other. The exhaustion of not being able to write compelling scenes or develop the characters was clearly apparent in Kubo's writing. He would still pull his magic here and there but we could see a genuine decline in the story as well as a drop in quality of drawing.
What utterly destroyed bleach:
I don't know why, in a shounen to boot, Kubo came up with a plot device for hero to lose everything to make bad guy stop once (not even kill him, just restrain him) but I think that was the definite moment bleach tanked fully because there was no saving it from this deadend. Now in order to make bleach progress in any way, Ichigo needed his powers back, so Kubo had to come up with an entire asspull arc to provide a premise for Rukia to give Ichigo powers for a second time. The entire arc focused more on development of Rukia and Ichigo's relationship, isolating Ichigo from all other characters except Rukia, than it did on creating any meaningful plot that justified the existence of the full bringers in first place. Anyway, we can understand. Kubo did a major oopsie with the end of HM arc and needed something to fix it. And Ichigo needed some mature/romantic development. Gotcha! So now bleach is on track! And what does Kubo do in next arc? Utterly destroy and retcon every single character of the manga including the MC. It's not even a shounen at this point, it's a tragedy. If he had known any better, he would have stopped bleach at HM arc. If he didn't want to completely throw bleach into dustbin he would have at least stopped at fullbring arc. But making of the last arc required him to undo essentially the entirety to bleach and play with the bonds characters share with their fans, because he had no other ideas to create "wow factor" at this point to stir the pot. Bleach was already failing for years at this point and a large fraction of readers were passive or had zoned out completely. So here goes - What's that? An established villain? Let's make him good guy and save the hero. A dead person? Revive him. Revive ten of them actually then kill and revive them again. Let's create an utterly useless sidekick fight for 10 chapters and finish the series in one chapter which doesn't connect to anything that happened in the 699 chapters before. NOTHING in the last arc makes sense. The ending chapter is so OOC you might as well insert a fanfic there and it won't a difference, because there was no prelude whatsoever leading to the blank period, in fact the final boss battle ended mid fight with no conclusion. If you were reading a physical manga, you would think someone ripped a few pages off the chapter because it ends that abruptly. What's worse, by the end of the series, every character and plot development regressed back to zero, essentially making the whole point of the manga NADA ZILCH ZERO. If you were to ask today why did Kubo write bleach or what was the purpose of it, what were the goals the MC wanted to achieve, I can bet Kubo cannot answer. Somewhere during this clusterfuck of keeping a failing plot alive by nonsense plot devices, he forgot why he was writing. He forgot who these characters were. He forgot who is reading this manga, who is the core demographic. He forgot the message Ichigo was going to tell. But most of all he forgot to respect his own creation and giving it the closure it deserved. And so bleach is a story that tells itself in first half and reverses itself in second half, and if this sentence made no sense to you, congratulations, you figured out exactly what bleach manga is.
Bleach is not the first and will not be the last manga with superior potential that tanked due to poor writing. What makes bleach unique is how monumentally bad the fall was and how truly crazy Tite Kubo is to knowingly bring his manga back to square one. I wish I could say it was the mad hatter kind of crazy for those of you who love chaos and lack of logic, but with 700+ chapters of mediocrity, slow reading and lack of plot, it's the kind of crazy you don't want to deal with.
With that, this bleach fan... oops.. this EX bleach fan, signs off.

EDIT: My rating is dropping from 7 to 5 due to the considerable drop in quality of story from ep 6-10. I will update review content once the series is over. But scores have been revised to reflect current status.
Review based on ep 1-6
I have to say this is by far the most interesting series I am watching in current season. I was totally convinced it's going to be a masterpiece until I saw the fight scene, more specifically episode 6 that lead to a sharp drop from 9 to 7 score for this anime on my list. Let me explain in detail below:
Character design:
If

there is one thing I really love about this show, it's the refreshing take on the art and design. There are definitely eye candy style macho characters to swoon on, but overall the way specially the main character is designed is somewhat unique. Specially his quirk about always smiling. The dress style is also very creative.
Sounds:
Nothing to complain there, a solid 8/10. Its not remarkable, it's not bad to listen to. Nothing to remember - like most new anime. Background effects etc are good.
Story:
Starts off really good and so far is keeping its moment. The real disappointment came mid series, where you have two factions clashing with a lot of build up and then suddenly a magical punch from the hero fixes everything. The emotions and actions during the fight are over simplified to the point of being unrealistic. It's like the bad guys are just tsunderes waiting for someone to rescue them. No sense of conflict whatsoever. There is also the problem of several characters being too white and black and as a result, lacking complexity, which makes it hard for viewer to feel any connection with them.
Fight scenes:
I don't have a problem with the animation quality, I just wish they would do more with the fight scenes. They start off with very good momentum but wrap up very quickly. This wasn't such a big deal breaker until team 5 vs team 8 fight scene where I feel that the main character fight scene really under performed. It was too simple, there was little to no sense of conflict, everything was just handed out to him and over all I didn't see any relative character growth coming out of the conflict.
Overall I think anime has a great potential to become a chart topper, whether or not it lives up to the hype and expectation is yet to be discovered.

I have been associated with bleach for over a decade now and have witnessed its fall over the time. Like many bleach fans I tried to defend it for the longest time but I think it's time to be honest.
Bleach came with a wave of freshness, a youth driven shounen with beautiful artwork and refreshing style. This can be witnessed up to soul society arc. If I had to rate only up to SS arc, I would give it a solid 9. But the problem begins afterwards.
Story:

in SS arc, but I don't understand why anyone would like it afterwards. The story literally repeats itself in HM arc right down to the gags. It is so blatant that for the longest time people kept searching for any symbolism in repeating the same story like some kind of parallel opposite, but there is none. It is just a really bad story telling. At least in SS arc Rukia was taken away by force for reasons beyond her control. HM arc is so stupid because instead of asking for help, Orihime basically walks into enemy's palms by herself and not only that she acts surprised when these guys come to save her. I kid you not. The girl is that stupid, and it doesn't help she is one of the main characters with so much focus given to her considering she is practically useless and impossible to bear. Kubo's obsession with this poorly developed Character and a really bad characterization of female over all has been one of the major sore points about bleach. I don't see how any anime can recover from the stupidity of practically repeating same story it already told for years so bleach never really does get better after SS arc. It's pointless fight after fight which are so boring because people stand around explaining their powers while the enemy just listens. Wtf? I recommend watch it till SS arc then drop it. If you're interested in HM arc just look for episodes where there is Grimmjow vs Ichigo and Ulquiorra vs Ichigo specifically, these are the only two fights worth even noting. The ultimate boss battle was hyped so much but fell flat on its face, it wasn't entertaining at all. They turned Aizen into a joke. Be warned, there will be random asspull power ups in every fight.
Characters
There are some interesting characters like Rukia, Grimmjow, Ulquiorra, Unohana, Byakuya, Tatsuki but over all its just so many characters with such littler development it is almost a crime why this anime is even popular. The MC Ichigo kurosaki is the blandest protagonist I have ever come across. He can hardly do anything by himself yet he is so full of himself for no reason. He has no life goals besides going from point a to b due to whatever is happening right now and be swept in random fights. SS arc started with Ichigo's wish to protect Rukia who gave him a new life and powers, and in turn protect his friends as well who went with him to SS. This was fine for one arc but as Ichigo grows in age and physically, he mentally doesn't grow at all. There is no maturity of thought process, no character development nothing. Even till the end of anime he still has no goals besides "protect friends", the same friends he very conveniently puts down often whenever it suits him. Protecting friends (which is just 3 people in human world so to say since he has lost touch with everyone else) is something that can be byproduct of achieving your goal, it's not something that can make an interesting narrative for a hero's journey. Among the mains Byakuya and Rukia seem to be the only somewhat loveable characters but they, specially Rukia, have been shafted so bad it's not even worth talking about. After a while the characters also all start to look the same. The arrangers were made to be such huge deals but in the end turned out total sissies. Also the villain, god modding Aizen is the blandest character ever too. He is constantly shown as the super powered ultimate opponent but very little exploration is done into his life, his goals and what drives him. His powers, his past, his childhood, his bonds, family, his motivators..m none of that is revealed. Which just makes him a card board cutout with no personality to be honest. In SS arc he made very solid debut tbh and I thought Kubo will create something amazing out of him, but alas wasted potential. In fact poor character development and wasted potential is the very theme of bleach.
Fights
Since bleach is so famous for fights, let's talk about them shall we? The fights are utterly lame. They lack logic and come across as stupid most of the times. Like how the enemy just stands there doing nothing while the good guys interact with each other and make a plan. Or how everyone spends half of the episode explaining all of their power instead of fighting which is utterly stupid, why would you help your enemy in figuring out your powers? Or like how everyone starts the fight with just smashing their unreleased swords together and keeps going on and on like that when both parties know neither will win unless their unleash their full power. Or like how ex captain class attack final boss without bankai or shikai and get their butt kicked in 0.2 seconds despite knowing enemy strength. Or how the hero can never get anything done at all without a last minute power up which becomes useless by next fight so he needs another power up. Or how no one ever dies in this manga except the bad guys and they get resurrected over and over so the whole concept of death is completely useless in bleach universe.
I could go on for days to be honest but I think the other reviews summed up the other points I left. I can't believe there was a time I actually believed bleach will continue to be awesome forever. I tried to keep my hope during HM arc but it never really did get better after SS arc. full bringer arc wasn't even worth talking about because it was just a filler ass pull arc centred around having an excuse to give Ichigo his powers back, which makes all the drama over him losing powers kind of pointless.
Final verdict: I would recommend bleach up to soul society arc. After that don't bother if you value your time and intelligence.

I have just finished watching this anime. The last episode kind of ruined it for me, which made my rating drop from 9 to 7. If this anime was a standalone comedy only, it would actually get a 10 from me. No complaints there. The characters are versatile and somewhat unique, the comedy is top notch, animation and sound is amazing. I loved the background track, reminds me of summer and high school and moments of peace. Over all this anime is amazong.

very end not one story properly concludes as far relationships go. But worst is definitely the lead couple, not only their proximity develops painfully slow, the ending made me really pissed off. It's fine for the story tellers to goof off through out the series, but I think in this one scene they should have given viewers something to feel warm and fuzzy about. Instead we have Sakura who is painfully trying to convey her feelings ripped off once again when Nozaki "kind of responds to her feelings" , only to realise he is still as clueless as a new born fawn and comfortably oblivious to sakura's suffering even though everyone else gets it. I am sorry but that is not a happy ending for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the series till episode 11, but the ending left me with a bad taste.

Personally I have a long list of yaoi mangas I've dropped reading right in the beginning or somewhere midway because of their complete lack of plot. It doesn't matter if a manga has boatload of sex in it, if there's no plot nothing else counts! The finder series, I thought will come across as another disappointment but to my surprise the story had what I was looking for so long. A sensible -and- captivating plot, awesome characters, realistic art, plenty of sex and action; in other words everything you need to keep you hooked.

photographer Akihito Takaba who gets caught up in a strange mess he would have never imagined in his wildest dreams when Ryuichi Asami, the big shot mafia businessman whom he was trying to expose, develops an interest in Akihito and leaves no stone unturned to win him over. Suddenly becoming (not yet gay but) uke of a sadistic man, Akihito was still trying to get a grasp of reality when Fei long shows up and makes things messier. Liu Fei Long, is another big shot in the mafia world, although more traditional in his ways, who has a history with Asami and decides to use Akihito as the tool to settle past scores.
I have to admit, I personally did not like Akihito, but neverthless he isn't the the usual stereotype wimpy or girly bottom type of guy that you come across in most BL mangas. His character is very convincing and believable, and so are most of others. The flow of story is also very good, with seldom any unwanted twists or turns.
Revealing much would be ruining the story, but all I can say is this is no regular lame sex with cherry on top yaoi manga, and so, for those BL fans who yearn for something more meaningful this is where you'll get it all. There's hardly any dull moment throughout. Just about right amount of sex, action, character development and a unique story is what makes Finder series one of its kind. A must read, I say!
