On the anime (and manga) side of things, I tend not to have any particular favorite genre. As a rule, I don't watch hentai, but other than that anything goes, really. I tend to like shorter run anime, and most of my favorites (Evangelion, Gunbuster, Wings of Honneamise, FLCL, etc.) are Gainax works. I tend to decide what to watch depending on what studio is producing and Gainax, Ghibli, and Madhouse are my favorites. I'm a huge fan of Satoshi Kon and Naoki Urasawa. I've only really been into anime for about two years now, but I've been watching it ever since Pokemon in the first grade.
On the music side of things, I tend to like late-70s/early 80s post-punk and art/prog rock. Some of my favorite bands are Talking Heads, Joy Division, Gang of Four, Wire, Bauhaus, Television, the Modern Lovers, The Smiths, Sisters of Mercy, Genesis (before ...And Then There Were Three), Peter Gabriel, New Order, King Crimson, Kate Bush and the Velvet Underground. I'm pretty much the only person I know who likes this stuff. I guess I'm weird.
I love old foreign movies. The Virgin Spring and Harakiri are pretty much my all time favorite movies of all time ever forever and ever.
Lastly, I am in love with literature. It might help that my mom used to be a librarian, but I have always loved books, even whenever I didn't like reading them. I adore classic literature (esp. Dostoevsky, G.K. Chesterton, Flannery O'Connor, and Thomas Hardy) and stuff by numerous other writers (esp. Gene Wolfe. That man is a genius).
And that's me.
