What if Bocchi the Rock! but with food? Hibi wa Sugerido blah blah provides exactly this: a group of girls with strikingly similar personalities (and some of the same voice actors) doing cute slice-of-life things while engaging in their hobby along the way. I mean, damn, you literally have an unreasonably socially anxious girl in both anime; what are you waiting for to watch them???

Do you like food? And traveling? And cute drawn girls? Great, you are probably too poor to afford the first two, and have an unhealthy obsession with the latter, but that's completely fine, because these two anime appeal exactly to the likes of you: food, the natural and urban beauties of Japan, and a bunch of girls, each with their own personality, doing things that heal your rotten soul.

Did you spend the entirety of your teenage years as a reclusive antisocial loser locked up in your bedroom all day long? Well, weep no more, for these two very similar anime will make you feel that slight amount of happiness you never got and never will get to experience because from here on out your life is about enslaving at work until you die. Have fun visiting animated tourist attractions of Japan with bidimensional teenage girls!

Cute girls with similar character archetypes doing cute things. On top of this, throw in some gourmet and travel, and you've got the perfect combination to waste your time with your eyes fixed on a screen while being influenced into wanting to experience a foreign land and culture when you should probably be studying or working instead.

Have you ever dreamt of traveling throughout Japan, but realized that: 1) you're poor, and 2) you will never live in Japan? If so, worry not, for Zatsu Tabi and mono will allow you to live an experience which your wallet will certainly never allow you to! Just sit down and watch a group of cute girls happily travel throughout various places in Japan, while you try hard to cope with the fact that the closest you'll ever get to that is through a screen!

Grab a bunch of kids, put them in the most despairing situations ever imaginable, and enjoy yourself watching them suffer while you sit in your chair eating your third bag of chips, not for a second asking yourself "is this something reasonable people enjoy?"; answer is no, but since you're likely like me, as in, not reasonable, you will absolutely love watching these slow-paced plot unfold into increasingly macabre scenarios.

What's better than cute high school anime girls? Well, first, not going to jail, but second, when these anime girls are put in some of the most traumatizing scenarios you can possibly imagine, and you enjoy it because you're sick in the head. Thankfully this is fictional media, otherwise you and I would be going to jail.

Do you like anime with dark visuals for the sake of atmosphere? Or intricate plots that, once they explain themselves, make you go "ah, that's WHY this character acted like that"? Well, then you're probably going to enjoy any of these two anime, provided you can sit through 80% of them until they actually get interesting.

If your understanding of "enjoyment" when it comes to anime implies a story that unfolds from top to the bottom and which takes over half of the fucking anime to actually get good, and when it does get good, it's because it gets fucked up, then yes, you will absolutely love these two anime.

Two adventures by two kids who go into an empty world, where apart from very few other characters, they're mostly alone. Behind the cute aesthetics of the characters hides a rather macabre, sad backstory, so these are perfect anime for pseudo-intellectuals who like to overanalyze every single thing they watch.

Do you like seeing young teens die brutally? Me too! Humans with their backs against the wall in worlds where they're not at the top of the food chain and a few kids fighting against all odds in the face of certain, painful death, with the cherry-on-top being an intricate story that slowly gets developed and reveals key aspects of the lore. Two perfect anime for people who like to torture themselves watching twisted stuff.

Do you enjoy being traumatized? Neither do I, but I seek that thrill anyway, and both these anime provide it. Ever wondered what it is like to see a child brutally die? I hope not, but if you did, here you have it, if by child we mean "something humanoid in 2D", but the premise is there. Elfen Lied and Made in Abyss are just absolute bangers for disturbed gore-loving people, or soon-to-be disturbed gore-loving people.

Cute characters + a brutal demise in every corner; this combination is absolutely great if you lack any sort of morality. Between each moment of relative peace or cuteness, you find death, sadness and a loss of humanity. It's really deep if you're, like, 15, and just fun if you're older than that and have long since stopped pretending that watching innocent anime characters die isn't fun.

Confusion in anime form. There's nothing to be understood here, it's just random chaos for the sake of chaos. Random change in animation, 3D CGI for comedic effect, quick-fire nonsense to make the audience choke while eating, it's all shared between these two pieces of irrational havoc.

Cute girls find themselves at the tail end of the world, as they now try to survive and find a trace amount of solace in a barren wasteland. These two anime are great at weighing the harsh reality of their settings with the innocent and curious nature of their characters, which manages to create a sense of melancholy and reflection as you watch them and sit down there and think "man if this happened to me, I'd probably just give up day one".

What do these two anime share in common? Cute girls sleeping outdoors, one VA, and a somewhat similar art style... that's about it, really. It is an odd comparison, but somehow, this one anime about camping is very alike to this one anime about a post-apocalyptic world, perhaps in the way they both manage to transmit a feeling of peace and appreciation for life, and on how they both achieve a sense of beauty by showcasing the real world in one show, and the leftover beauty of a barren wasteland in the other.

Cute girls doing stupid things. It's needless to say that these two anime basically defined 2000s CGDCT and have been worshiped by many-a-weeb for ages. Two pretty normal high school groups of girls (and their teacher) who find themselves in unusually humorous situations... and repeat for over 20 episodes to the acclaim of the masses. You can even argue that Lucky Star practically ripped off Azumanga Daioh and made it about otaku culture. Nevertheless, if you watched one of these, you gotta watch the other, no matter what.

A gatling gun loaded with stupidly unexpected and surreal comedy. Nichijou feels like the more modernized version of Azumanga Daioh, as both anime are absolutely great at just throwing random humor at you faster than Crunchyroll ruins its platform. Some scenes are curiously similar to each other, and the overall vibe from these two anime is as familiar as Ivory Coast's flag is to Ireland's.

Two anime set in Europe during medieval times (barring the difference between Northern and Eastern Europe, and about 450 years). Grounded, mostly realistic, with lots of tension and drama, and humane characters with actual struggles and similar backgrounds and motivations. They both portray a really good representation of medieval times in many aspects, and their visuals are fantastic.

These two anime are melodramatic romances with an important focus on the supernatural, and with very similar protagonists who go out of their way to help others deal with their problems.
