Eh. 3/10. The MC was entirely too OP and vastly overshadowed every single other character in the series - And that's saying a lot, considering my shadow has more depth than the MC. Probably would've enjoyed it a bit more if MC and/or the harem had some individuality but they all tended to blend together. Also would've liked to have seen the MC show a hint of effort and development, but alas that's too much to ask for from this genre.

It horrifies me that a story with such lack of effort, on part of the plot, as well as the overall depths of each character, ... could find it's way to becoming an animated series.

Hopefully, this will be the final and last they animate for this series.

It's rare that I spend the effort to write a review for an anime; even rarer yet when the only thing I have to say about the anime under review is only positive.

From the summary and anime picture; it's very easy to write this anime off as your typical super-go-lucky, happy fun time anime but it turns out to be the complete opposite. Such an incredible amount of originality was put into this anime, ranging from the art style right down to the story itself.

Story: 10
Constantly keeping the viewer wanting more, this anime delivers with each episode - wasting not a single episode with meaningless ... filler. Each episode only serves to inform and satisfy while yet leaving an eagerness for more.

Art: 10
I saw some wonderful blends of different styles and I was absolutely in love with it. Even during scenes where violence seemed 'edited' for youth, it still emphasized the intent of the grimness. To express an emotion to the viewer without needing to over-exaggerate the grimness, in the art, was just incredible.

Sound: 10
Though it seemed only half a dozen different tracks were used, they were used so well. Music wasn't played needlessly and each time a track - no matter how often it may have been played in the past - always managed to express just the right kind of gravity to the current situation.

Character: 10
The premises of this anime forces each character to have a story - And that's what I love about it. There weren't any background characters that didn't in, some way, bring their own content into the series. Feeling despair when a character felt despair, feeling happy when a character felt joy - That's how strongly this anime was able to portray each character.

12 episodes of wonderful art, music and story. I couldn't have asked for more, in an anime.

Each girl had her own reason for fighting and each had a sense of defiance against overwhelming odds that just made their plights all the more tragic. For an anime that seems to advertise happy-go lucky and good-time feelings, this anime delivers on a completely opposite level. While it still gives you good feelings, it also gives you a fresh look on each character's own struggle and pain.

This anime is the perfect balance of happiness and despair.

Anime are created with the desire to draw out the emotions of the viewer. School Days succeeded, in that regard, by drawing out an immense amount of anger and frustration from me. This could have potentially been a decent anime; if it weren't for the fact that the main protagonist was portrayed as such a spineless, deceitful and selfish prick. Just like every bloody eroge, the main protagonist has girls flinging themselves at him, left and right. That's to be expected, in these kind of anime, but it's how these romantic relationships are being approached which makes me boil with anger. The main protagonist, like ... I said, is a selfish, self-serving dimwit that the authors of this anime decided to have trample all over the feelings of the female characters involved - and the most infuriating thing is; half the time the character is completely oblivious to everything going on around him and the other half of the time, he takes every opportunity to screw over whoever cares for him. The only good part to this anime was the early beginning - But after less than midway through, this anime becomes just painful and drab to watch. Towards the end of this anime; I found myself hoping this ends horribly for the main protagonist.

Poor characters (or character scripting) ruined a good plot. I feel like the anime spent the first 3/4th's of the series building up a lot of tension and expectation, only to have the animes' plot fall flat on it's face in the last several episodes. At first, I was relatively on edge and stricken when misfortune befell a character, but towards the end of this anime - I found myself just shaking my head and face-palming.

The sound was decent, but I felt like there were some overly dramatic music played that just didn't fit with some of the scenes. No variation to opening/closing themes, no ... real character development. Most characters felt stoic - just waiting for something to happen and reacting poorly. Most of the characters lacked forward motion; if that makes any sense.
