I'm a little scared now to recommend stuff lol. My 2 main recs happen to both be my favorite anime and my favorite manga.

Anime: Maison Ikkoku, mid 80s anime, both my favorite comedy and my favorite romance. The manga for this is what made *misunderstandings* in anime romcoms a popular thing to do, but it does it better than anything else I've seen. (By the same author as Inuyasha btw)

Manga: Kono Oto Tomare, modern manga, has the most loveable and developed cast I've ever seen and I love them all dearly. It does have romance, but it's fairly slow though realistic imo. It centers around a music club, specifically playing the Koto (ancient Japanese instrument), which is why its biggest comparison is Chihayafuru, but imo it is much better and if you're like me, you'll love the whole cast.

Whoa, I initially thought after seeing your account that you'd love Chihayafuru, but I look and it seems you didn't like s1 and even dropped s2. ;o
Anyways, I had a few recommendations for you if you're interested. I'm gonna be checking out Lonely Planet soon. I am curious though, why do you love Inuyasha so much? (I haven't seen it and am curious.)
