I know what you mean about work, I only have time to squeeze in a few really, reeaally short shows at the moment, and ones that I don't need to use my brain for... Darker than Black sounds pretty cool, let me know if it's worth a watch if you get round to seeing it :)

Well, I'll give the dub a try then on your recommendation! I just remember watching a few clips of the dub and actually liking L more (great dub actor) and thinking Light sounded a bit more teenagery and a little less badass, I was worried that might have changed the enjoyment of the story for me. I really should stopped being so biased though before I've tried it haha ;)

Are you watching any interesting anime at the moment/got any good ones lined up?
JolieJoli Jan 4, 2016 10:22 AM
Thanks for the heads up, I've been looking forward to your Death Note review, we had strikingly similar views on the horrible Angel Beats so I was really curious about your thoughts on DN especially as you rate it so highly too :D I'm rewatching it at the moment actually, still amazing the second time round, but I'm actually picking up on even more of the symbolism and foreshadowing this time, it really is such an intelligent anime.

Really great job on the review! You really did it justice without spoiling it, unlike a lot of the other reviews here - that's not easy to do with such a complex anime. I liked how you manage to sum up the characters of L and Light so succinctly, as well as bring the evolution of Light's character to the reader's attention. Whereas the show is a fantastic, gripping cat and mouse game, I think how Light changes over 37 episodes makes this a piece of fiction with a great deal of depth. I also totally agree with you about Misa, Near and Mello. I feel that Misa was meant to be annoying and dumb - she was the perfect contrast to Light, bringing out his worst qualities. Whereas others hated Near and Mello, I saw them as an extension of L and Watari, and was rooting for them just as much by the end; any victory for Near and Mello was essentially a victory for L, so I can't really understand people who hate them.

Anyways, I could talk about DN forever, but I'll stop there for now :P How did you find the rewatch? Did anything change for you the second time around? Did watching the dub instead of sub make a difference?

Happy New Year by the way! :)

Thank you for your kind words, glad you liked it, let alone read that huge wall of text haha. No sure, of course, friend request accepted, feel free to discuss stuff or ask question, I enjoy it :)

Just read your review and it's good. On a side note, I found the ED for After Story to be a mismatch for the series. "Torch" is good to here, but during emotional episodes, it feels weird hearing a cheerful ED at the end. I wished they put the Dango song at the end of some episodes instead of Torch.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the ending, and it felt to happy for me after all that happened in the previous episodes. I just love After Story because of the depth they put into Okazaki. At first I had issues in getting used to the moe-feeling to the anime, but then I got used to it. Also episodes 16-21 made me tear up at some parts.

Episode 6? The one with the cat right? Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of that arc too. A lot of people were, but idk, I felt like it did nothing for me. It's the second half of After Story that really shines (although I'm not a big fan of it's ending).

Just read you Clannad review, and reviews are valid. However After Story does character development right, especially for Okazaki. What are you thinking of After Story so far?
JolieJoli Nov 9, 2015 4:54 PM
Thanks for the info, from what you've said I'll probably never get round to watching it. There's so much awesome stuff to see first anyways :P
SilentAnswer Nov 8, 2015 10:33 PM
If you end up watching it, be aware that the first six or so episodes are pretty much a continuation of the original season.
SilentAnswer Nov 8, 2015 10:14 PM
I enjoyed the original season, but it wasn't really anything special. More or less, I found it to be a necessary character build so that Afterstory felt more wholesome.
JolieJoli Nov 8, 2015 2:39 PM
Hey, nice new review :) You gave a good description of what we can expect from watching Clannad. Needless to say I don't think it's for me though. I think some of the production team is the same as for AB, was it similar in any way? What made you decide to pick this one up?
SilentAnswer Nov 8, 2015 11:30 AM
Continue onto Afterstory. Your opinion should raise highly.

With DN, FMA:B and HsDxD in favlist I'm really not suprised that you didn't like Clannad (and you gave 1 for Angel Beats...). You just like boring shounen shows for teenager boys, with dumb main characters which want to take control of the world.
No offense, seriously.
JolieJoli Nov 6, 2015 10:03 AM
Lol how funny, I hadn't heard about THAT bit of the ending, I wouldn't expect anything less though judging from what I saw of the show. Good luck for the reviews, look forward to reading them! :)
