Humans are trapped in massive walls surrounded by monsters, one of the walls is broken by the alpha monster.... Groups of people fight for humanity. Main character had experience with the monsters when they were younger. Both pretty dark and involve lots of death.

If you liked Baccano! add

...then you might like Durarara!! add

Both have a lot of different characters with no specific main one, a lot going on at once, time changes very often. Similar animation (Same studio and both adapted from the same Author) and there are Baccano Easter eggs in Durarara, the biggest being Isaac and Miria. Also both the Dubs are worth watching.
