Why do I watch anime ?
First off, let me just say that anime is definitely (in my opinion) one of the greatest embodiment of contemporary art.From my personal point of view, nothing beats the beauty of a well animated drawing that brings to life even the most fictional imagination. As an artist, I pursue this very form of art itself as a way of expressing my ideas.Sure anime is technically a cartoon and yeah I've always liked cartoons, however anime as an art style on it's own and a form of entertainment with a wide range of demographic clearly sets itself apart, falling under its own category that many of us fans enjoy very much.
That enthusiastic feeling you get every time you catch a glimpse of your favorite anime character or the exhilarating feeling you get after finishing a great series are just one of the few things that makes anime fun and enjoyable.Watching anime has also made me interested in learning Japanese and really, I've never thought that learning a foreign language can be this intriguing.Overall, watching anime is a fun experience and it's always great when you can find others who enjoys watching anime as well.
I usually prefer watching anime revolving around:
Action, Military, Adventure, Romance, Ecchi, Slice of Life, Comedy
I score an anime based on MAL's reviewing parameters with "enjoyment" tending to outweigh the other factors. Enjoyment in my case refers to my own bias preferences and the anime's ability to perform the way it's expected to be (by the general viewers) or in certain cases even exceeding one's expectation.
