Story: 8/10

The plot of Kimetsu no Yaiba is simple yet effective. The story revolves around Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy whose family was brutally murdered by demons, leaving only his sister Nezuko, who was turned into a demon. Motivated by a desire for revenge and the hope of saving Nezuko, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps. The narrative is captivating and well-structured, although it becomes predictable at times. The manga follows a repetitive pattern where the tragic ... pasts of the demons are revealed after their defeats, attempting to generate a late emotional connection with the reader.

Characters: 8/10

The characters in Kimetsu no Yaiba are diverse, with some standing out more than others. Tanjiro is a classic shounen protagonist: kind-hearted, determined, and remarkably empathetic. His love and dedication to his sister Nezuko are touching and provide the central motivation for his actions. Inosuke, with his wild personality and brute strength, and Zenitsu, with his cowardly but surprisingly powerful nature, add an interesting dynamic to the group.

The Hashira, the elite demon slayers, bring depth and diversity to the series. Characters like Kyojuro Rengoku and Tengen Uzui stand out for their unique personalities and memorable backstories. However, the main antagonist, Muzan Kibutsuji, is underdeveloped, presenting as a one-dimensional villain lacking charisma and depth.

The manga's art is a contentious point. While the visual style has its moments of brilliance, especially in battle scenes and the representations of the breathing styles, the quality of the drawing is often inconsistent. The line weights can be confusing, and foreground and background elements frequently blend together, making action scenes hard to follow. However, the character design is distinctive and expressive, contributing to the series' visual identity.

The themes in Kimetsu no Yaiba are common in the shounen genre: perseverance, friendship, and the battle between good and evil. While not groundbreaking, they are handled effectively and emotionally. Tanjiro's compassion, even for the demons he fights, adds a layer of moral depth to the story, highlighting the complexity of the characters' motivations and actions.

Kimetsu no Yaiba is an enjoyable and satisfying read, especially for fans of shounen manga. Despite its weaknesses, such as the repetitive plot and inconsistent art, the manga stands out for its emotionally charged story, engaging characters, and exciting action moments. It is not a work that revolutionizes the genre, but it is a solid example of a well-told narrative that keeps readers invested from start to finish.

"Demon Slayer," or as I affectionately refer to it, "The Encyclopedia of Shounen Tropes: Demon Edition," does indeed feel like someone decided to play Shounen Bingo and ended up shouting "Bingo!" before the end of the first chapter. It's as if the manga sat down, made a checklist of every single shounen trope out there, and then proceeded to tick off each one with the determination of a protagonist facing their final boss battle.

Now, don't get me wrong, there's a certain charm to sticking to the classics. After all, tropes become tropes for a reason—they work. And "Demon Slayer" works... in the way a microwave ... meal satisfies your hunger. It's quick, it's easy, and you know exactly what you're getting: a wholesome serving of demons, swords, and the power of family and friendship with a side of spectacularly animated battles.

Our hero, Tanjiro, is the epitome of the shounen protagonist: kind-hearted, determined, and equipped with a tragic backstory that's as required in this genre as a sword is for a samurai. His quest to save his sister, who's been turned into a demon, is noble, heart-wrenching, and a perfect vehicle for introducing a variety of demons with increasingly complicated motives and tragic backstories of their own. It's like "My Neighbor Totoro," if Totoro wanted to eat you.

The battles are visually stunning, a feast for the eyes, and they do an excellent job of reminding you that, yes, this is indeed a battle shounen manga. Each fight is more elaborate than the last, showcasing the power of friendship, determination, and, most importantly, breathing. Lots and lots of specialized breathing. Because who needs straightforward swordsmanship when you can have water dragons and fire tigers erupting from your blade?

Let's talk about the side characters, who range from the loveably quirky to the "I swear I've seen you in three other mangas" familiar. They add color, humor, and sometimes a depth to the narrative that keeps it from being just another demon-hunting story. And by depth, I mean they ensure the story checks off another square on the Shounen Bingo card: the power of teamwork.

In summary, "Demon Slayer" might not be breaking any new ground with its adherence to shounen tropes, but it's a testament to the fact that sometimes, all you need is a well-told story with characters you can root for, fights that keep you on the edge of your seat, and animation that makes each scene a work of art. It's comfortable, familiar, and sometimes, that's exactly what you're in the mood for. After all, there's a reason comfort food is so popular, and "Demon Slayer" is the manga equivalent of your favorite dish, served just the way you like it.

To be honest I feel very disappointed. That start was great and the characters were interesting, the story was interesting and it offered a lot of plots for the reader to wonder. The second arc and the third was also pretty good but at some point it feels like the budget ended and rushed the ending so fast slaughtering characters and villains in each volume. So beacouse of this I didint like the ending it ruined the manga for me. It's a shame beacuse this manga has a lot of potential. Missed opportunity. The drawings btw are in my hopinion not that great. I think ... you should better watch the anime.
