The story and setting are close to realistic, I mean with realistic is this series is not as melodramatic and exaggerating as Citrus. The dialogue, interaction, and MC are calm and sweet.

I decided to write this review because I am really digging for an anime adaption of this beautiful manga.

If you are a person who enjoys shounen ai, or shoujo ai, like me, then you will extremely enjoy this heart-felt, genuine manga, that is surprisingly very realistic. I have never read a shoujo ai manga as focused on the topic like this one before. I can also relate to Yuu (Protagonist) very much with her feeling of not loving (Well...we all know that will change soon...)

Oh my gosh, I’ve never seen a love story that crushes my heart as much as this. Bloom Into You is one hell of a surprise to me. Now I’ll admit, I wasn’t too big on this series when I first read the first chapters. I initially thought it would be a mediocre snorefest with a plot that’s boring and might as well call Yuu a generic moeblob. But as soon as I catch up with the chapters I’ve been missing out on, I really love it. It’s an amalgamation of elements that’s already been done before and converts them into a bundle of true ... beauty. This series has only gotten even better for me when I give it a few re-reads and such.

This series starts off with a girl named ‘Yuu’ thinking about her love for Shoujo manga and wanting to find the true answer to what love actually is. When she enters high school, she doesn’t know how to communicate with other people around her. Later, she encounters a student council president named ‘Nanami’ and both of them get along with each other. Like I said, on my initial read, it doesn’t feel any special. Not really a bad thing, but it could pick up more uniqueness to its story structures. But just reading more of it makes me realize that it shows what it is and how it really is built like that.

To me, Bloom Into You arguably isn’t really a romance story. By the time you’ve read a total of 44 chapters, you’ll start to forget that it has a ‘romance tag’. Think about it, it’s more on finding what the concept of ‘love’ actually is. Even if Yuu gains more experience from her friends, she still struggles to find the true answer behind that. It’s really sweet to see quite a lot of character interactions that are wholesome yet complicated and have a lot of interesting topics to go over. Each discussion has a fantastic focus on a character’s struggle with love and/or what a character is suspiciously doing.

My personal favorite aspect of the story is how Yuu and Touko hang out with each other, talk things through, and later, reveal their colors. Both are in a situation where they have a hard time trying to reach the definition of love together. This series truly knows how to pace a shocking scene. It takes time for character interactions to go on until the drama unfolds. All of this is achieved without any bit of cheap melancholy. Personally, it may technically not be the most complex love-based story out there but for how it’s constructed, how can I even forget about it one bit? It’s masterfully written and it never gets old to read.

The characters are my personal favorite part of the story. We have two main characters, both of which consist of Yuu, a first-year student who struggles to find love, and Nanami, a second-year student who tends to be kind of toxic at points. Both are just really phenomenal. They play an amazing contrast to each other and truly have a lot of elements that tie well with the story. Yuu is adorable and relatable, and that’s not even the true fraction of her growth for me. The real deal here is how she talks with not just Nanami but also the side cast. Yuu’s monologues really helped me with the stories’ definitions and she really delivers them very precisely.

Although Yuu is my personal favorite of the two main leads, Nanami is also phenomenal and is, admittedly, the character in the series I relate to the most. Sure, she can act toxic but to me, that is for the right reasons. Nanami is a tragic figure. She worked so hard ever since her elder sister died and she has yet to achieve her happiness. That is when Yuu comes to her for comfort. Both Yuu and Nanami have not only incredible chemistry with one another but with that, they also coincide with the story’s themes excellently.

Of course, we can’t ignore the supporting characters as well. I’m not going to talk about all of them but hey, there are ones that are possibly just as amazing. Sayaka is an amazing obstacle to Yuu and/or Nanami and is probably my favorite third wheel in anime/manga. She tends to be Yuu or Nanami’s way due to how she feels, especially in a love relationship. But at the same time, she tends to act empathetic towards them, and that empathy truly adds a contrast to how strange her actions can be. Maki is also a great addition. His moments with Yuu are cute and funny but also dynamic and straight to the point.

While this doesn’t add to the story at all, how can I forget about the art? It’s simplistic yet it’s sweet, shiny, and truly adds to the overall aesthetics. That’s all there is to it, really. It’s an art style that’s just very pleasing to look at.

Even by non-Yuri standards, Bloom Into You is what I personally believe to be the best Yuri series and one of the best romance (or preferably love) stories of all time. For only 44 chapters, it packs a lot of things that tend to be mindblowing when it comes to character relationships and drama. I probably don’t think there are main character duos in other love stories that come close to Yuu and Touko. I just think they’re downright amazing. With that being said, this is probably your best stop if you’re big on romance and/or drama. Thanks for reading!

Started reading this because it was the highest rated "girl love" manga, if I can quote MAL's genre titling. It wasn't something I sought out or even something I was necessarily interested in. With that being said, this manga showcasing the blooming (pun intended) love of two school girls was a very cute and heartwarming read.

The manga is short and sweet and tells everything that it wants to tell effectively within the limited chapters. This manga has one of the best problems a manga can have, it was over before I wanted it to be. Thankfully, it was hinted at the end of the manga ...

It is honestly astounding to me how much I ended up liking this manga.

I watched the 2018 anime adaptation of this manga around 18 months ago and, well, it was fine. I had an all-right time watching it and I gave it a 7/10. If someone asked me yesterday to recount every show I watched in the last few years, I am certain that this would have been one of the shows I would have forgotten.

Bloom Into You is a Yuri manga that I find to be part of the pinnacle of its genre, that being romance. This is to the point where I ... am actually kind of disappointed that this is a Yuri manga. I personally don’t have anything against this manga being the way it is, the problem I am referring to is more so about what the genre as a whole has become over the years because at least in its current state, I find Yuri as a genre to be about as well respected as Harem. This is a real shame as, as should be obvious by now, there are a lot and I mean a lot of qualities to Bloom Into You that make for an entertaining and thought-provoking read. All that being said, there are elements I want to critique before continuing to praise the manga for the many things it does better than almost everything I have ever read.

The first problem and the one that stuck with me at the beginning was how the situation the three main characters find themselves in is contrived but more importantly below the standard that the rest of the manga reaches. It is not a good sign when the first thing you think of reading something is Citrus. No, to let me clarify this is by far not that bad but “lesbian love triangle” just doesn’t sound like anything worth my time. The fact that their teacher was also lesbian didn’t help either and only made me more concerned that just maybe the entire town might secretly be a “lesbian love panopticon” like in Citrus, fuck Citrus. Luckily this story actually treats its readers with a shred of respect, though that being said we get to our next problem.

The first and especially second arc of the manga are very on the nose about what they are saying, to the point where they literally turn the emotional situation of one of the main characters into a theatre play. This would have been fine with me if I didn’t also just find the play they presented to be even more on the nose, which I can forgive because it’s a play, it needs to be on the nose, but it is also just nonsensically written. What really gets me about this, is that it wasn’t intentional the play was even written by a student everyone always praises for her writing to the point where she literally wins awards for it. Apart from the play dialogue from time to time just doesn’t feel natural to the point where Yuu’s monologue which, while thought-provoking, made Light Yagami look like the main girl from “A Silent Voice”.

Okay, that’s all, now to the good stuff:

The Manga is absolutely beautiful and I am so happy that the scans I read were in high enough quality to take advantage of the amazing artwork. The story is also elevated by creative use of panelling and symbolism which I do not know enough about to go into depth but I noticed them, so that’s a positive. It is also really really cute.

The characters are competently written and what surprised me the most I didn’t hate any of them. I was expecting to hate a certain character, everyone who read the manga will know who I am talking about, but she turned out to be really chill with the most offensive thing she did being, taking time away from the main characters. Out of which one was really enjoyable and the other, well let’s just say she had a lot of problems.

The story is a bit of a slow burner that tries to be a bit too dramatic with a few of its plot beats in the first half but never to the point that it bothered me. There were certain elements that, while I wouldn’t say felt forced, seemed to be implemented to force conflict and nothing else.

This is a last category I would not normally have but I think it is important enough that I need to write this. The next part is about the ending so full spoilers ahead, you have been warned.

If someone asked me 2 years from now, without me having read the last six chapters of this manga, to recount every manga I read in the last few years, I am certain that this would be one of the manga I would have forgotten.

For me at least, almost everything I like this manga for can be credited to its ending. I find it to be cathartic and immensely satisfying for a lot of reasons, but it also has a huge emphasis on closure. I honestly don’t care if someone were to make a point that from an artistic standpoint, it would have more value if Yuu and Touku didn’t get together, sometimes you just need stories that make you feel good, and this is just that for me.

I kind of miss just enjoying something for what it is, something that becomes harder and harder with every show you watch, every story you experience, because as you become a better critic you slowly lose the ability to really immerse yourself in these stories. Constantly having to judge and critique everything, while fun in its own way takes a lot of the entertainment out of the media you consume. I think I haven’t liked something this much since I finished Kaguya-Sama over a year ago, which scares me in a way I can't quite describe. It becomes rarer and rarer that I find something I wholeheartedly love, and this manga does just that for me. It isn’t perfect but I loved it nonetheless. If I were to judge it, I would give it a 9 out of 10 but trying to rate it, it can’t be anything but a 10 out of 10 for me.

Yagate Kimi ni Naru, the first decent yuri novel I've ever read. I confess that I had a giant fear of this manga being like Citrus (the worst thing I have ever read), but I was caught off guard by its lovelly narrative and its excellently well-situated and human characters, making it look like they are in fact young people with problems in love .

Everything is just beautiful, all the dialogues, all the weight in the scenes, the design of the characters, the setting and the panel layout, everything is very beautiful and lovely, in the right dose.

I imagined it would be just any romance, ... with no depth or anything, but WOW, the way this manga talks about the indifference of the vision of love in adolescence is simply absurd, it is excellent. Not wanting to give spoilers, but it's worth reading just for Maki's lines about it. Which makes the conversation of "I want to be with her, but I don't want it at the same time" much more human.

Now as for the characters.

Koito, Yuu: An excellent protagonist, with a wonderful drama and a changeable and beautifully developed personality, the protagonist can be highly relatable to many young people who have problems feeling that they love someone. The whole way it develops during history because of events is very good, the things that happen actually change it on a resounding level.

Nanami, Touko: Perfect, despite the doubtful personality at the beginning of the work, everything is extremely "" understandable "" during the course (note: it is important to remember that it is wrong in all circumstances to force someone to love you). The development of the character along with Yuu in a wonderful and beautiful way, extremely organic and natural. Much of the dialogues and dramas involving the character are breathtaking too, very well covered.

Saeki, Sayaka: I swear it took me a long time to understand the character, but then I understood it because I thought she was quite relatable. All the way her love is different with whatever Yuu feels, dialogues extremely well in the narrative, her fear of losing her friend and the desire to date her, it is all very natural and beautiful, as well as the work as a whole. In fact the outcome of the character left something to be desired, but the development of their relationships is very pleasant.

Maki, Seiji: Absolute best boy, with the best lines in the manga, this character is easily perfect. His way of seeing the beautiful flower of love is simply phenomenally addressed, with lines and scenes that are very important for the development of the main cast. This secondary character is undoubtedly the definition of a supporting character.

Kanou, Koyomi and the piece of advice: The character is good, nothing too much or too little, an excellent narrative gear. The play itself surprised me, one of the first times that a novel has managed to use this concept in a way that it pleases me. The piece "forces" a very good development in the characters, in addition to the message passed by this one to be beautiful.

The teacher and her novel: pure perfection, I want something like that hahahaha

The existence of this manga as a whole made me very happy, because in addition to not fetishizing relationships between women, the manga approaches everything in an extremely non-sexulized way, little seen in manga and LGBT anime. Such an approach makes me extremely happy, for making me really represented.

Finally, Yagate Kimi ni Naru, it's just like watching a flower bloom, beautiful. The drama of the characters, the development, and how they are all used extremely well, everything is perfect and floral. I definitely recommend reading this manga, almost as a "must read".

Yagate Kimi ni Naru is at the top of my list in the Yuri genre. Unlike most retrospect Yuri manga there's a solid reason why this manga is considered the very best for me.

Plot/Story : The plot itself is significant and very unpredictable which is an element you rarely find in manga nowadays. The originality is the best part of this manga in my opinion. It revolves around 2 girls with very different approach to 'love' and has very different ways of defining it. Whereby one has achieved the ability to love and another has not yet*. As the story progress we see the ... main protagonist making agonizing decisions questioning herself if she should allow her feelings to flow or to put a stop to it. If she falls in love she will lose her partner. But if she keep her feelings bottled up she would still be with her partner but not be able to express anything. This puts a strain on their relationship and raises questions on whether to suppress her feelings or not. Heart-wrenching and painful to read but very immersive. I rate 10/10

Art : Like many other manga out there the winning card is on the art. Yagate Kimi ni Naru is no different. Its an eye candy for those who enjoy good art. The artist (Nakatani) does the job well and doesn't cut corners. The art style is very manga-like meaning its very common but that doesn't mean it isn't good. Its neat and comfortable for the eyes. I personally really enjoy the art style but feel like there is a slight hint of 'chibi-ness' in the art which really adds to the character. I rate 9/10

Character : Unlike most manga's Yagate Kimi ni Naru's characters are slightly more special. They don't revolve around the plot or the surroundings rather they are THE plot. As you read you don't feel like the characters are purposely placed in the setting but rather the setting works to their characters. There is plenty of character development which is a blast to read. You see progress on the character development thus you see progress on the plot. Same concept ;) I rate 10/10

Enjoyment : Overall my experience has been amazing as i flipped through the pages of this manga. There is no special fan-service or the sort in this manga. Plain and simple, this manga doesn't try to appeal to a specific type of readers but attempts to create their own readers. Partially thats why i think this manga is underrated. This manga takes story-telling differently. The twist and turns happen at the most unexpected moments and more often than once this manga is exploring a different part of a story where many manga have never done. I rate 9/10

Overall : All in all this manga has been an amazing experience. One very big downside is the slow updates. Yes, this manga is still on-going. Updates are very slow but there is still progress in the story. I really wished i had found it after it has been completed just so i can binge read this. I rate 9/10

There's a reason why this manga is on the top of my list and outshines the others and it comes from the realistic originality of the plot. Manga's tend to get real sometimes and Yagate Kimi ni Naru is one of those manga. They raise questions for the readers that leave them thinking twice in real life. It doesn't follow the cliche pattern of the usual shoujo-ai yuri manga but creates a truly different relationship between 2 girls.

I've just completed this series a few minutes ago, so I feel as though I should write down my thoughts on the series while it's still fresh in my head.

For starters, I've never really ventured into the girls' love genre of anime/manga, not deliberately, but simply because no Yuri series really appealed to me. After noticing Yagate Kimi Ni Naru on a lot of people's favorites lists, I decided I'd check it out out of curiosity. There's no way it could be THAT good, right?

From the first 5 chapters alone, I was absolutely hooked. I had already added it to my favorite manga list at ... that point because of how enticing the plot had already become that early on, and little did I know it'd end up getting so much better.

The way Yuu is shown to be super into love songs and romance in media, yet has never truly felt that herself, is something I found myself relating to quite a lot. I've had very superficial and surface-level "crushes" in the past, as most people have, yet I have yet to ever truly experience love for myself. The concept of love is so foreign to Yuu that upon being confessed to, as opposed to the magical feeling she thought she'd feel, she just felt nothing. Because of this, she's been given the impression that she is simply incapable of falling in love.

Although I can't say anyone's ever confessed to me, I do relate to her as I often find myself wondering "Am I actually capable of loving someone like the people in these romances do? Am I capable of being loved?" and where this series absolutely set itself apart from any other romance I've read is that it has provided the answer to both of those questions for me: yes. Even someone like Yuu, who is so insistent that she can't fall in love with someone, or someone like Touko, whose love for others is far greater than that which she has for herself, are capable of finding their special someone in life.

Another thing that I found to be incredibly moving was Touko's backstory and her development throughout the series. The idea of a person who has lost their true self while chasing the accomplishments of others, while not an entirely new concept, is something I find quite interesting. The thought that "if I were more like so-and-so, maybe they'd like me more. Maybe my life would be better if I were more like them", and so on, is not an unfamiliar one to me. I spent years in middle and high school trying to be more like someone else, and although I didn't exactly mimic their behaviors, I found myself wanting to do the things they did just to appease other people, despite my true feelings on the matter. The way Touko finally found her true self was also absolutely amazing, and the means by which they did it was equally as beautiful. As the curtains rolled down after the play, the tears streaming down her eyes and probably yours too were enough to truly mark a change in her life.

This series provides an amazing example of the importance of truly being yourself. Not who others want you to be, not who you think other people would want you to be, but what YOU truly are. You deserve love, and you deserve happiness. Regardless of how much you think you aren't cut out for romance, or how little you think of yourself, you are good enough.

I don't want to gush too much, but I do generally believe this series is a must-read, and will full-heartedly recommend it to anyone. Interestingly enough, as much as I absolutely adore this series right now, it did not leave a great impression after my first read, but every re-read afterwards I enjoy it even more and more. As many have said, Yagate Kimi ni Naru stands head and shoulders above its peers in nearly every respect. At the time of writing, the final chapter has just been published - what a journey it's been.

It's no secret that manga as a medium is saturated with tired tropes and problematic depictions. Lesbian romance, including yuri, are perhaps the worst of the bunch. It's rare to find a work that escapes from the voyeuristic and heteronormative strokes that dominate the genre, yet YagaKimi delivers and more.

This manga is great. It is arguably the best yuri out there, and I would go as far as to say it might be the best romance manga period. Yagate Kimi ni Naru (or its English title "Bloom into You") is such a refreshing read, as it defies so many typical tropes and delves into serious topics that most romances are afraid to touch.

On its surface, there is nothing particularly eye-catching about this manga. It takes place in a high school. The protagonist is young and plucky, and the love interest is cool and mature. Most of the story moves incredibly slowly, and the most ... significant plot event is the student council putting on a play at the culture festival (not joking). To be blunt, it sounds boring and formulaic, and if I hadn't heard so many positive things about this manga, I probably wouldn't have even bothered reading it.

Fortunately though, I gave it a chance. Somehow, Yagate Kimi ni Naru makes all these tropes work. Yes, it moves slowly, but every character, every bit of dialogue is packed with so much charm and intrigue that I couldn't put it down. A slice-of-life lives and dies by the strength of its characters, and wow, this manga delivers in that regard.

The first thing that intrigued me about this manga was the protagonist, Yuu Koito. Yuu is your typical protagonist in some ways; she is caring and courageous and good at making friends. In some ways though, she is extremely atypical. She is stubborn and blunt and easily annoyed. She wants to experience love, but feels like she is unable to do so. Even when Touko begins to express interest in her, Yuu doesn't blush and get excited. She feels nothing.

Not to be outdone, the love interest, Touko Nanami, is just as likable and complex. She is in some ways the opposite of Yuu; she is the mature, calm, and flawless student council president. However, she is full of insecurities and self-loathing. Like Yuu, she also doesn't understand what it means to love. Despite her affection for Yuu, she is fearful of Yuu loving her in return.

Yuu and Touko make for a truly lovable pair. Instead of one character helping the other, they are both growing together, learning what love means for them. They are just so sweet and easy to root for.

In most romances, characters outside the main couple exist as little more than background noise, only good for moving the plot along or causing a love triangle. This is perhaps the most impressive part of Yagate Kimi ni Naru. Every character, and I mean every character, is multi-faceted and has their own independent motivations all while not taking any attention away from the main focus of the story. Amazingly, this manga is the first I have read that has a love triangle that isn't unbearably annoying, and it is a testament to how well-written that third character is.

Truly, I think Yagate Kimi ni Naru transcends the yuri genre. When was the last time a yuri tackled transitory homosexuality? Asexuality? This manga does all that and more. Often, I see people describe yuri as "pure". I despise this concept, as it feels vaguely misogynistic and not representative of how love truly is. Yagate Kimi ni Naru shows that a yuri can be largely wholesome and positive without trying too hard to be pure. The characters kiss, they have lustful feelings, they have temptations. They act like real people in love.

If I have one complaint, it is that the story did not show Yuu and Touko coming out to their friends and family members. It hinted at it, but ultimately this was a missed opportunity to dive into another serious and interesting topic. However, this is a minor criticism, and the story is paced so well that adding any more would ultimately be unnecessary.

It should also be mentioned that Nio Nakatani's artwork is incredible, full of gorgeous panels. She uses space beautifully.

Please read this manga. It is much more than just a yuri. It is a masterpiece deserving of that elusive 10/10 score.

Jesus, there are so many things I'm feeling right now that I'm not confident I can portray through text, but I'll try my best.

I just finished all volumes of Bloom Into You and just... wow. What a ride. This is the best thing I've ever read.

To start, the first thing I noticed upon reading was the absolutely stunning artwork. Whether it's fully colored or just a regular panel, each drawing in this manga is able to make me stop to really appreciate what I'm looking at. It doesn't have to be something amazing, it can just be a regular front facing shot of a character, ... but still, the author manages to make even the simplest of shots look captivating with their style. Also, the way they color and draw backgrounds so easily makes me feel as if I'm there with the characters.

Secondly, the characters. Where do I even begin? Sure, while on the surface this manga looks like a cute yuri, it's so much more than that. The characters are complex. There are no villains or heroes. The main couple, Yuu and Touko, aren't black and white. They are simply two confused teenagers trying to navigate these complex feelings they have toward one another. And even if things seem tough, even when their internal baggage is weighing them down, they still overcome them just so they can be together. It's absolutely beautiful. Also, no matter how small a character may be, the author still gives them attention with lovely illustrations and nice writing. But other characters getting the spotlight doesn't hurt the main couple in any way, rather, it strengthens it. The way the author explores the world through their art and supporting characters is amazing and it really makes you feel emersed in the story that you are reading.

I hope one day I can make someone feel as strongly about my work as how I feel about Bloom Into You. I don't think I will ever forget this masterpiece, it would be a sin to do such a thing. There's so much more I'd love to say about this manga, but I feel like my words couldn't do it justice. It deserves praise from a poet or scholar, not some lesbian anime nerd on the internet. But I don't think a person like that is going to appear out of thin air. You need to read this manga. Then you will understand how I feel without needing a person like that to spell it out for you.

Please. Just read it. You won't regret it. Even if you don't end up enjoying it as much as I did, you won't regret reading this masterpiece. It will add value to your life. It might change your perspective of relationships forever, or it might just be a good experience that you won't forget. Whatever it may be, this manga is DEFINITELY worth reading, and it deserves MUCH more praise than what it's currently getting.

Without spoiling too much, Bloom Into You is a heartwarming story about two people learning how to love each other given difficult and unforgiving setbacks. While the show ends off only about half way into the entire manga, its ending is a good place for the animation to end in order to get the audience hooked enough. Yuu's inner strife with herself propels both her and Touko to change in a more positive direction for the two of them, while smoothing out the ridges in their relationship along the way. Unlike other yuri works, this particular piece does a great job of highlighting real aspects ... and challenges that the lesbian community, or the lgbt community as a whole seems to have with the evolving world; Yuu's father making a comment about having a girlfriend is evident of that in the early volumes. Although the love the two have for each other seems one sided at different points throughout the entire series, the authors do a fine job at having a believable and realistic way that the two come together for their own good.

In terms of side characters, the biggest factors to the enjoyment of this series is definitely Sayaka-san; her connection to Touko and imbalanced acquaintanceship with Yuu (at first) put a strain on the overarching relationship that Touko and Yuu, while giving the audience something to ponder as to what will happen if or when Sayaka decides to do something. In the end however, as much as she wants something to happen or take things into her own hands, Sayaka-san is at the mercy of the power of love between Touko and Yuu, the two proving overtime just how difficult it is to understand the concepts of love, trust, and understanding. Bloom Into You makes a claim on the overall idea of love in today's media and traditional romance works, where typically the audience can see where a relationship might be heading because the show or book sets it up like that in the beginning; however with this piece, there is not a clear "what happens next" moment while reading. Of course one can infer and make educated guesses as to what probably will happen next, but it is the way this story is written with the dynamic of how the characters act based upon interior motives that give the story ambiguity the whole time. At times, Yuu and Touko are wrapped in each others arms but other times are left lying in their beds to wonder what the other will say if she does X instead of Y.

Ultimately, the enjoyment comes from how willing the reader wants to continue to look into the lives of a realistic story of forbidden love; it is a good story depicting the challenges people who do not know what their partner or soulmate will be like, but rather learning how to love oneself and the people that love you. This series truly has changed my outlook on the yuri genre and broke the boundary of having a love story that is clear cut and easy to understand. I would recommend this not for the girl to girl love that this story pitches, but for the complications love can be in general and how one can glean information from just watching these two learn to accept and love each other fully.

If one was teaching a course to an aspiring mangaka, Bloom Into You would be the template for how to write a romance. The author did everything right and made no mistakes. Bloom Into You is more than the canonical scripture cited by every lover of yuri or romance manga. Bloom Into You is a work that lives eternally in the hearts of its readers. Using MAL's inadequate rating scale of 1-10, Bloom Into You is a perfect 11.

For those who check my manga reading lists and reviews, I really like Shojou Ai or Yuri stories.

Bloom Into You or Yagate Kimi ni Naru is a great story that, while is a romance, I personally feel like it is mostly a story about self discovery.

The main focus of the story is about how both protagonists discover where they belong in the world. That cute innocence that you have as a high schooler, not really knowing what you want to do in your future along with the qualms of being a teenager figuring out how you feel about someone else, is something that is portrayed with great accuracy.

One of the biggest strengths of this manga is just how relatable the characters ... shown throughout the story are to the reader. A lot of people can relate to Yuu. We have read about love, we have all learned about how love is something that elates that person, something that "gives you wings". But just how many of us have truly experienced something that they can call "love"? Or maybe, you can relate to Akari, liking someone only to find out that they are already in a relationship? Regardless of your sexual orientation, everyone is able to at least relate one of the characters in the play.

Another major strength is it's well written characters and the interactions between them is what makes this manga is really able to shine. The story puts great emphasis on finding one's identity. As the plot progresses, the people involved grow and learn more about themselves. This series is able to portray this change in a very realistic light, showing how people can grow from experiences and does not shy away from showing the ugly side of things. It doesn't hesitate to show how those awkward and emotionally painful situations can allow someone to grow and eventually move forward, becoming more complete than they were yesterday.

In life, Things are rarely black and white, the people that you interact with, the experiences that you have, the goals that you strive to accomplish, are all things that, if turned into binary decisions, would make this journey through life that we all experience, bland and honestly boring. However, the author does a great job at creating realistic personalities with true depth to their characters. This was accomplished by adding delving into their hobbies, ideals, goals, and futures.

I personally thought that as the cast of characters began to expand, I thought that there was no way in which the author would be able to juggle all of them without dropping some of them or creating these shallow and 2D personalities. But to my surprise, I got invested in the entire cast. While some of them stuck to traditional character archetypes, their memorable personalities and complex cast allowed them to stick to my mind and helps create a true sense of realism, something that many other manga fail to do.

But enough rambling on the character development, Bloom Into You at heart is still a romance. So how does it hold up against to other romances? Does it make your heart flutter? Well to put it simply, it does an excellent job. The story talks about how Yuu, thinking that she is incapable of falling in love does so. In a true poetic fashion, the love interest Touko, through her displays of affection is able to show Yuu that she is indeed capable of something that she initially thought she wasn't able to feel. This is why, I believe that it is a story about self-discovery hid behind a romance. All of the characters have some sort of flaw, and through their interactions, they complement each other in such a beautiful fashion.

All in all, "Bloom Into You" is a story that encapsulates the teenage years of most people. Their journey of self discovery and the quirky features of young love.
