This was one of the most polarising experiences I had while consuming any media, like it's hard to describe the hate and love I have for this series. Saying it's flawed is an understatement, saying it's a masterpiece is just an overevaluation. Is it good or is it bad ? I dunno, for one thing I loved it. Because of this amalgamation of feelings it made for a memorable watch.
If you consider only the last episodes canon and the rest filler, yeah certified masterpiece.
This of course if a review of both seasons, but since R2 got such a reaction out of me it'll be the ... main topic. I'll also try to be as spoiler free as possible. Even the spoilers are skippable, you can still get an overall idea without reading my complaining/praising.

Animation/Art

If I had to describe it into a single word, it would be consistent. Personally I didn't have any expectations for it so I didn't try and look out for problems visually but, I was surprised in the quality it had to offer. The art style isn't amazing, for some people it might be a turn off but it was quite charming, at the very least it made the series stand out. Now to the part that everyone cares about, is the animation sakugasbroosu?? no. While it is good and like I said consistent I can't say I was blown away, even so all the fights were fluid and I didn't notice many corners that were cut, and personally I think it's really important to have something consistently good than a few godly moments where the animators got 10 yen extra for their work.

Audio

The voice actors did a good job, but the one thing that stood out the most was Charles's "ALL HAIL BRITANNIA". For more times than I'd like to admit I felt my right had rising while hearing it. Norio Wakamoto did a stellar job selling the charisma of the emperor. Another thing I noticed, while the use of English terms was limited to the aformentioned and "YES, MY MAJESTY/LORD" and a few others, the pronunciation was good, I know being able to say a few words in English shouldn't be such a big achievement but for me it was, all these moments got me hyped for some weird reason and it wouldn't have been possible if it was botched.
On the side of music, the ops/eds didn't surprise me in any way, probably not my type of songs, visually too they were disappointing. BUT, ost throughout the series was baller, at points it reminded me of Nier: Automata, and for me that's a great sign. Like other things the ost really stood out at the end of R2.

Story/Episodes

My opinion basically is R1 until the last episode was a solid beginning, the last episode of R1 and everything in R2 until episode 19, was me basically questioning the rating capabilities of the anime community.
I won't talk about the famous cat episode in R1, yeah it's really slow at points. I'd say one of the big problems of Geass is the episodes that seem to server no purpose and even if they do, it could've been done in a better way to save time and make it more engaging. I say it's a big problem but it's passable, a lot of series I love have these type of episodes and I overlooked them. The one thing that makes these episodes pure hell, is one of the worst problems this series faces, the school setting. People have been complaining about the school settings in anime that exist for no reason except making the high schoolers or any young demographic relate, (there's also the ecchi reason but I won't get into that), but here it's even more painful to watch since you have such an interesting world introduced, politics, effects from actions, but they take a back seat for fanservice and uhh school activities, you get my point. I craved to see more of the innerworkings of Britannia, the aristocrats, the other important powers in the world. I love my ecchi moments but they can be introduced even if the girls aren't in high school as far as I'm aware. The double life that Lelouch lives is interesting at the beginning but after a while it's so annoying. This brings me to another 2 big problems, the R2 twist, from the opening episode and Nunnally. I'll be short with the first problem, if you actually liked that twist please send me your death threats so I know who to avoid, it might've introduced a cool character but it also made R1 feel useless. The character that was introduced could've been introduced in other ways, and still create a relationship between him and Lelouch. Nunnally as a character, isn't bad, it's ok, but it ties with my first problem, the school setting. The story could've advanced but Lelouch is always back for at least one episode at school for Nunnally, and you are left waiting for a full episode for some crumbs about any developments. For one season is fine but this continues until the 2nd half of R2. I don't think a military themed show should waste so much time on things like haha funny run after Lelouch to be in a relationship with him. There are always OVAs for that, just saying.

In R2 it gets so bad that I waited for Nunally to die, like when she "did" I felt like my favourite football team finally scored after hours of running in circles

I understand that Nunnally is the thing that drives Lelouch but there've been cases of main characters fueled to conquer whole worlds for their sisters and it didn't make me rip my eyes out whenever their safety was in question (Legend of the Galactic Heroes).

My hate for all these "trivial problems" is only fueled by THE MASTEPIECE THAT IS EPISODES 19-25

I know at this point I just joined the sheeple, but even with my pride shattered I have to admit I loved these episodes to no end, but at the same time it's also a testimony of the missed opportunity with the rest of the series. Characters that I used to detest I started to admire them or just purely admit that maybe it was wrong of me to wish death upon them, talking specifically about Nina right now. I watched these episodes on Christmas Day, and no joke it felt like Santa bent space reality and listened to nearly all my pleads towards this show. Santa deniers please stop reading btw. Even if it was for a short while we got strategic battles, no more ha I actually had something prepared for this, it devolved into bombs and retreat but I really appreciated the effort. While the actual battle was good the ideology and thought battles is where it made the difference.

This is just me gushing about the last episodes, if you didn't watch it yet I suggest skipping over it since it would just ruin the experience

The rivalry between Lelouch and Schneizel was so beautifully built up, and considering their opposing opinions it just made for such an interesting battle of wits. I also loved that Schneizel wasn't so 2 dimensional as he seemed, once again making him a good matchup for Lelouch. In terms of themes, forcing your love onto others, was once again something built up that I didn't realize until the end, and it also helped making Lelouch and Suzaku more human, it made us aware of the hypocrisy Lelouch is guilty off, while he accusing his parents he still continues forcing his ideal world on Nunnally. Just an overall good message that was well written into the circumstances of the story. And the twist at the end, it was as much tragic as it was brilliant. I kept wondering why isn't Lelouch just coming out, yeah btw I'm Zero just to turn the Order into disarray, but the reason was made clear to me. And both Suzaku and Lelouch giving up their life, one of them just technically speaking, was rather poetic. It was obvious thinking back on it but it was the cherry on top of the cake. (At the same time I have to give credit to the awful beginning of the season that it made me stop thinking about what will happen, so maybe it was all planned.) The part that rubbed me off the worst was the epilogue that started after Zero Requiem. It might be just me, but feels wrong to see everyone happy go lucky after the characters you actually cared about "died". Would've been better to do it without the narrator, just show some shots of their new life. I'm rambling right now but at the same time, I have to talk about it since it influenced my rating, it really just shat on the whole vibe the episode created.

There were also other problems with characters just being immune to dying for some reason, twists that felt a bit forced but going that much in depth is just nitpicking.

Characters

And to go by the quote mentioned above, I'll start with one of the worst characters, at least in R1, Nina. While I talked about the show, I just called her racist lesbian since that's all there was to her in the first half of the series. What they tried to do with the character was pretty clear, it was either redemption in the future or small petty villain that gets rid of at one point. The problem is, she is part of the main cast in the school part, so you have to deal with her pretty often, most of her growth happens off screen so she doesn't do anything valuable in R1 except hate the Japanese. I'd say it's quite funny that she gets cucked but it might be of poor taste. In R2 she gets her redemption I guess especially after she realizes she is the Robert Oppenheimer of the geassverse, but if I remember correctly she just doesn't try to kill Lelouch anymore, really can't say if her racism is gone since he is British so yeah. I think that gay>hetero in basically any relationship in anime, so it's really disappointing to see them just make her so two dimensional.

Now to the character that surprised me the most, Suzaku.

If I have to be honest, I didn't hope for much from Suzaku in R1 he seemed the exact carbon copy of all virgin idealistic MCs that go against the chad I'll do whatever to get what I want MCs. But after, a certain, thing exploded, everything started to connect. It was such a satisfying resolution that came after times and times where he was broken. Nearly everything about him was changed except his determination, in the masterpiece part, his determination is at it's highest. It finally feels he knows what he has to do, in like 40 + episodes he just reacted to everything that happened around him, talking about ideals and to do it the right way, but in reality he didn't do much, he was just a cog that thought he'd bring the change in the big machine that was Britannia. It was an interesting conclusion, or idea about how idealistic people could end up. His story is a tragedy that gets worse and worse but while at it's peak you can't stop but admire him. I personally, I'm fascinated by him, and the finale, him and Lelouch arrived at. In the end, the difference between him and Lelouch was the determination, his will to see their promise to it's end.

Other things I guess I want to talk about is, how much ecchi there's in this series, like R1 has just tits, quite a lot of them, then in R2 there's the cam shots in the robots that probably inspired Darling in the Franxx. Like yeah Kallen is hot same for C.C. but I kinda feel it takes away from the seriousness the show tries to have

Conclusions

If I had to describe my whole experience, it would be a toxic relationship. The show keeps treating me like shit, then at times it's a bit nice, shows me some interesting politics cool fights, then beats me again, and then when I'm nearly about to drop them, leave them for good and not look back, they become everything I've ever dreamed of.
Where I'm probably at fault is my expectations. I went in expecting some really serious military themed show, with a very smart MC, something along the lines of legend of the galactic heroes but with robots and high school. But it wasn't that. Considering the ending I understand anyone that considers it a masterpiece but I will still not shut up about my opinions

Domestic na Kanojo is finally over, after it's been dragged for so long and beaten to death it finally can rest in peace.

Art

While the backgrounds weren't masterpieces, the characters's design made up for it, in most cases at least.They were expressive, sometimes making for some good comedic moments. There was also a nice variety in clothes which made it feel more realistic. What really matters, at least in my opinion, is that Sasuga really shines when it comes to drawing the naked body. Even after everything that happened i can still appreciate the way she draws tits. If you only want to experience that, read ... the ".1" chapters, the numbers may differ just look for the ".".
The whole story could be separated in two parts high school and college.

High school

While it was trashy, it was at it's peak, it was entertaining to follow Natsuo, Rui and Hina trough their predicaments, something dramatic happened every few chapters, most of the time topping it off it a twist of a twist, you didn't really had the option to catch a break. While it sounds bad, it didn't feel forced, at least to some degree; you just went along with the ride, sometimes complaining about the decisions they did. On the other hand, most of the time, the drama was cheesy, the plot always moved in the worst way possible to create stupid situations of the cast.
The themes were somewhat interesting, nothing groundbreaking but they served their purpose of making the cast grow, most of the time being connected to love, some examples being unrequited love, breakup.
In this part, the main cast gets the most development. Rui going from someone lost in life, not knowing what to do with it or what true love was, finds her calling while discovering feelings she didn't realise she had. Hina struggled with her love life, her being in her twenties without a relationship, but she finally found someone that she loves. And in the end, Natsuo, the main character, he shares the struggles the two sisters have, he overcomes them while pursuing his dream.

College

From this point the series just went downhill. Story wise, it started feeling dragged on. The drama, the quirk that i once enjoyed became a chore. More and more characters whose only role was to create drama appeared, best example is the drama troupe. The literature club in high school had a role beyond being just there to create drama, after the arcs of each character were done they didn't just disappear, they still had a role after their respective arcs ended. Compared to that, the drama troupe was the opposite, characters after characters from it were introduced, took part in the events that unfolded, then just disappeared only to appear once or twice, depending on how relevant they were. On the other hand we got the "villains". Once we moved to adulthood, the manga started focusing more on mature topics like sex work, drugs, abusive relationships, suicide, racism, just to name a few. With them the need for the bad guy arisen, did they have anything interesting about them?, were they more than plot devices to either "develop" the main cast or move the plot?; sadly no, after they got what was coming to them they either disappeared completely or had another appearance for their last dramatic moment.
Arcs that had no real purpose started appearing, they seemed that were helping the characters learn and grow, but in the long run the changes didn't stuck, they were back to where they were in the beginning.
The ending, was the definition of a bad ending. It ignored character development, struggles that the characters had. The reasoning behind just made it more laughable. Everything that happened, all 276 chapters, just thrown out the window. It feels like it all had regressed back to the beginning.

I realised that I could never "beat" you.
I'll remember this line for a long time, as one of the most stupid reason for giving up. Hello old Rui, i guess.
I had low expectations for it ever since Tanabe's arc. Story became uninteresting and the characters just competed to see who had the most brain cells missing. But the ending destroyed my expectations.

Conclusion

Don't waste your time, the story and characters just get worse as time goes on, sometimes it feels like the author wants to send a message rather than having a good story. If I had to suggest reading it, stop after high school ended. I still consider that, this series should've ended at that point.

Well, well, well... Guess who is back, Psycho Pass, after 3 new movies we get a new season , is it good?... eh,not really.

I'll start with what i disliked about it.
My first problem is something, pretty obvious, the sudden change of the cast, I say sudden because I had no idea of what this season would entail.The new cast was decent at best, even though the new enforcers for most of the time had one single trait, and it felt like their existence didn't really matter.In the end some of them got some development but it still felt underwhelming. The new inspectors, Kei ... and Arata, start pretty interesting but as time goes on and the story progresses they become boring, and one of them goes against all his character at the end of the season, for conflict. Arata is basically Akane but with some mental powers that came out of nowhere,it wasn't even explained it just got introduced and we had to accept it(There's also a big dragon head that appears in all of them,it's reason, like the ability, wasn't explained so i'm not gonna dwell much into it). Just like Akane he believes that people can change and in a lot of cases he goes against his enforcers to save some people that couldn't really be saved, and that fact is made obvious every time.In one way it shows how much he cherishes life but when he ignores everything and goes out of his way to save "unsavable" people it comes off as annoying after it's done multiple times.
The reason why the old cast disbanded isn't revealed yet so i can't really say much about it outside my frustration, every time i saw the old cast i was reminded that they weren't there anymore and it really didn't help me like the new cast.
Another big problem i had is the world.When i first saw the world of Psycho Pass i was enthralled, it felt outlandish, i wanted to know more and see how crazy they could get with technology. This season went against that and added some places that felt, really out of place for this world, they seemed like they were frozen in time for decades,old buildings and factories that looked straight out of eastern europe. The fact that Japan was very advanced was set in stone in the first season, seeing those places so close to the city everything too place in really made me think this didn't happen in the same world.
The big bad guys this season weren't of my liking either , the whole concept of such a big organisation with such a power existing alongside Sibyl felt too forced, their headquarters also looked ridiculous, it reminded me of something out of Bioshock. The stock game, i don't know how to call it, was pretty stupid, it felt like i was watching 3 people playing Monopoly. All my problems with it tie with the world problem, if this wasn't in Psycho Pass, but in a different world where all these contradictions didn't exist, maybe i would have found it interesting.
In this season they tried tackling subjects like economy, politics, religion, immigration. Most of them worked... well pretty much all of them to some degree, except religion. Why exactly did it fail?, same problem as the bigbadvillainsorganiation, a new cult emerged, it's leader was accepted Sibyl and they amassed a big number of followers. Their "church" is a building with such a size that some priests would've wet themselves at the sight of it, so big that at least some kid made a "yo momma" joke about it. With such size you think it was built afar from the city, nah, it just appeared there, also they made it so no signals can enter it, so Sybil wouldn't interfere, glad they were ok with that. This might seem like i'm nitpicking, maybe, but for me it just destroyed my immersion and made me think how stupid it looked.
Without spoiling much of the story these are some of my problems, there are other, especially with the characters but that would mean giving context, so spoilers, yeah i'm leaving it like that.

After complaining so much, you might be surprised i gave it a 6, well there are some things i liked.
The best thing this season had to offer is... a likeable Shimotsuki, one that it's existence isn't just to make the viewers want to punch their screen, and goddamn i'm glad this happened. Her development started since the first case file movie so i wasn't that surprised but it still felt good.
In the first half, Kei and Arata had a fun chemistry and seeing them resolve cases was actually interesting. Sadly as time went on they got, not as interesting,and sometimes annoying. But for some time they made me forget about unit one.The side characters, even if they were one dimensional for most of the time, they were likeable so that's good i guess.
After they stopped talking about bifrost (badguys), it focused more on the detective/police side of Psycho Pass that i love, they kept doing that until the last episodes. I really liked that part of the it.
The animation was amazing, prod ig really improved their cgi and the combination of it with animation. All the fight scenes looked good and the choreography wasn't plain.

Is this season the worst thing that Japan has birthed?, no.
Most of my problems happened in the first episode and the last ones, more exactly bifrost, throughout the rest of the episodes, there was some problems but,not that many.
Is this season worth watching? Depends, if you liked the movies you might like it but there's also the chance you'll find the change of cast jarring, like me.
My advice if you want to watch it is to go without any expectations, even expect the worst season of Psycho Pass, if you go with high expectations and the hope you'll see Akane and Kougami working together, you'll be utterly disappointed.

So one of the best, if not the best shoujo ai series ended.I started reading it after the anime finished, I craved more content. I already loved it but as the story progressed I loved it even more.

Story

It starts pretty normal, just a high school romance, but one of the characters already confessed their love. It's a one sided "relationship" but that changes as time goes on.The story tackles questions like What does it mean to be in love?, How do I know I'm in love and answers them beautifully.The first part is more about Yuu, which struggles to understand love, and the later ... part focuses more on Touko and her personal problems.There's also Sayaka, she loves Touko,but she's insecure about confessing, and this forms a love triangle.
The ending was very fulfilling, exciting, cute and beautiful, even if we won't be able to see their next adventures, we know it still continues because "Life never stops".

Characters

Every character is fascinating in their own way,they have different goals, dreams, problems, each one of them could be a main character. Some of them struggle with love just as the two girls.
I love Yuu's tomboyish personality and her down to earth attitude.She feels alienated from discussions like love and boyfriends, so she struggles to understand the meaning of it, seeing her slowly unveil the mystery behind love and coming to understand it, is beautiful.
I grew to like Touko, the more I learned about her.She is the seemingly perfect girl,good grades, popular, without any personal problems. But this, perfect girl , can't love people that have feelings for her. Yuu was someone who viewed her as a normal flawed person, she didn't consider her as someone special.
I got attached to their chemistry very easily. Their interactions are downright cute, seeing them get in fights is heartbreaking and when they finally are true to their feelings I can't help but be happy.

Art

Is very good but not amazing, sometimes the backgrounds are stunning but most of the time their are plain, but because of this simplicity the coloured pages are just beautiful. The character designs are simple yet cute, and they go perfectly with the facial expressions which I love. The expressions work a treat with their personalities and they are very charming.

Overall is a 10. I'm a big fan of shoujo ai/yuri so I might be biased, but i feel anyone could enjoy it as long as they are fans of romance. Seeing their adventures was lovely, and I'm so glad I read YagaKimi.

Granbelm really surprised me, it went from a show that I thought it will be mediocre and I shouldn't bother with it, to one of my favourites this season, but sadly not everyone had the patience to go trough the first episodes and because of that the show ended up overlooked.

The story
It starts slow, but it get really interesting as time goes on. Every episode ends up being a build up for another and then by the end when all the puzzle pieces are together you are just amazed, that most of the answers were right in your face since ... the first episodes. The story is unpredictable, every time I tried to predict what will happen in the next episode I was just egged in the face by how wrong I was.The ending is no exception...
The characters
They were the best part of the story, I loved all of them, Anna ended up being my favourite.Every character from the main cast has it's own arc where their personality and backstory are shown, most of the time you go from hating the character to loving them.The show also does a great job making the characters feel real, the reasons they fight, the reasons the don't give up and the reasons they still go on, you can't help but resonate with them ~well at least in my case~.
The animation
One of the best animation this season, from such a small studio, it was really surprising. The fights were so fluid and full of colour, it was just a pleasure to look at them, they weren't hard to follow either. The character designs were pretty good too, I wasn't a big fan of the design for the mechas.
The sound design
It was good, the sound effects were decent, and the background music really set the mood when it wanted to. The voice acting, it was... just amazing, all VAs did a great job. Their performances really helped bringing the characters to life. Aoi Yuuki and Yoko Hikasa did an outstanding job, their acting sent shivers down my spine
The OP and ED were decent, nothing amazing, the songs were pretty good and the animation simple, but it did it's job, especially the ending's simplicity, it really helped to set everything for some episodes.
It was an enjoyable series, every Friday I was looking forward for a new episode. The ending left me a bit sad but it was fulfilling and I wouldn't change it. From different interviews I read it seemed the team behind the show was very passionate about it. The animators, voice actors, everyone wanted to give an amazing experience, and they did... If you reading this and you aren't sure about starting it or not because of the rating, or because it has mechas or magic, i really suggest watching the first episodes, it could draw you in like it did for me.
Overall it's a 9.

When you think of Madhouse , you think of great shows like HxH,Opm,Death Note, shows that excelled in story, animation, sound, you name it. Sooo, this show must be great, or at least average...Well, it's awful.

The story is the only decent part about this anime, you follow the main characters,Yuki and Takuya, fighting the big bad guys to get to a big hole. Where supposedly, Yuki's father resides, but that hole is dangerous and has a lot of mysteries that surround it and with the addition of, " different universes" / "parallel universes", it makes a pretty good story. Buuut, for some ... reason there are some people that have different powers, like to make things disappear, telekinesis, summoning your old bodyguard that was dead, nothing amazing. They were poorly explained, and in my opinion the story would have been better without them.
The ending was horrible, they tried to add some moral points to the story, they failed miserably, at the same time they tried to make it sad, but it was such a clusterfuck that it didn't get me at all. There were some stupid decisions regarding some characters, that had no reason at all.

The characters were very forgettable, bland. There were some interesting ones, but didn't have that much screen time or were killed right after they were introduced. Suzuna was one of them, most of the series they teased that there was more about her but, they didn't do anything major with her character until the last 2 episodes.
There were also some characters that were added for the sole purpose of getting them killed, so that character x or y will get involved with the story.

The animation .... OH BOY. The CGI reminded me of overlord 2&3, the animation in general was meh. There were some cool shots that were destroyed by the lack of detail or the addition of CGI.. The character designs were pretty good, most of them at least.

The sound design was ok, nothing amazing, the OST was very forgettable. The VAs did a pretty good job, it seemed that they tried to give life to these cardboard characters.

The OP and ED were all right, the OP was energetic , getting you pumped up for the start of a new episode, the ED was calm, I liked the voices of SPR5.

Overall the premise was good but it ended up as a train wreck, except if you want to see how a horrible anime looks like, I don't recommend you watching it.

Just like a wise man said "Domestic na Kanojo is like a dumpster fire , you know it's bad but you still watch it", well the anime just extinguished that fire.
The story is pretty good,if you go in without any information the start might is just full of surprises, and the surprises don't really stop. After a while you just want to follow Natsuo's journey to see where he ends up. Every time something that shouldn't happen,happens, and somehow it doesn't get old.
The animation was lacking for pretty much the whole season, there are so many episodes ... where minutes pass and it's just a still image, and the characters continue talking , sometimes if you are lucky the perspective will change but the still image is still there, just the mouth is moving.There are some moments where it was actually decent but it was mostly in the first episodes.
The sound design was average , there wasn't anything spectacular, but sometimes the voices sounded weird , it happens a few times throughout the whole season and it can be kinda annoying.
The characters were so shallow , Rui was the only one I was content with her development , Natsuo an good character until the later episodes where the pacing just went crazy same thing for Hina. The other cast was very poorly developed , all members of the Literature Club had one episode each to get to know them , after that they were just forgotten. The same can be said for the other support cast except Fumiya and Mary.
It was a very fun ride at the start, the drama was soo good. After that a few episodes passed and then everything went downhill , the pacing was destroyed , the characters , everything started getting worse and worse. And by the end I was just angry.
On a brighter note , the op is amazing , the song made by Minami is a masterpiece.
Overall I think I ended up hating the series so much after I realised how much they butchered the source material. Maybe if it wasn't for that I would've brushed it off as "Just an average story with bad characters".
If over the top drama is your thing you will love this, if you like incest but not incest because they aren't blood related even better . If you liked the first episodes continue but if you didn't don't expect it to get better.
This was my first review so , sorry if it wasn't a good review, also while I'm here, read the manga , a much better choice.
