In a world filled with lots of new anime revolving around games and being forced into them, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! is the breath of satire needed for the genre.

When you hear of an anime about being stuck in a RPG, you been programmed to believe the main protagonist is a kind-hearted, gifted, over-powered person. Not with KonoSuba.

The story itself is weak, as it does follow the typical quest/reward aspect of the genre. However, what it lacks in story it makes up for in satire, waifus, and abundant comedy.

If you're tired of SAO, No Game No Life, .hack style anime, then ... look to KonoSuba for that comedic view of them.

Okay, so Konosuba became my favorite series, and I havent quite finished it all yet but I love it.

In terms of story.. well its story is just your average isekai tbh, but the point of this is not for the story its about the characters and enjoyment of the series. Konosuba feels like your hanging out with your friends just joking around and making memories, you aren't reading this to follow an amazing story you read it because its fun, relaxing, memorable, enjoyable, and light hearted.

The MC is not your average isekai goody two shoes heart of gold guy, he isn't evil what ... Kazuma is is relatable.

There is some romance, but its slow, there is character development but its slow because its about the comedy and the memories the characters make together.

I extremely recommend this! I love this, it is my favorite anime and manga and it is 100% worth a read or a watch. Just give it a chance.

Konosuba - Story 4, Characters 5, Art 7, Enjoyment 6, Overall 6 [Quick review]

Konosuba aims to be a comedy parody of the isekai genre. It is an ecchi harem comedy that uses the usual tropes without much reasoning or progression. If you like that, you probably will enjoy this series. If you liked the anime and are thinking about reading the manga, you would probably like it, but without getting much additional content over the anime.

+ Positive points: Comedy (if you like it)
- Weak points: Nearly no character development, no world building, no progression, ecchi comedy (if you do not like it)

In case you ... are uncertain about it, just try out the first few chapters (or episodes). If you do not like it from the start, you probably should just put it aside, because it does not improve or change very much over the progression of the manga.


I will discuss some of the weak points of the manga in the following. This mostly applies to the anime as well, since there are not many relevant differences.

Characters:
Almost all of the Characters are very generic and lacking in development. They aim to be unique and funny but fail because they are not explained apart from their basic characteristics. Most characters are always referring to the same kind of jokes, arguments and preferences during the manga. Apart from their basic introduction they do not receive any character development until later chapters. In the later chapter Megumi and Lalatina will get a character arc which does solve this difficulty a bit, but it still is not enough to make them interesting.

Comedy:
Comedy is mostly concerned about ecchi actions or fantasies of the female Mains or the MC. Most jokes resolve around the same conclusions and do not try to be reasonable or advance anything of the story or setting. Many jokes are flat and generic. If you have read any other ecchi harem mangas you know most of them. In my opinion it is not remotely funny and fails to be a reasonable parody of the isekai genre because it relies on standart ecchi comedy without making it unique or adapt it to the isekai genre.

Audience and rating:
As you noticed, my rating for the manga is lower than the average and the same goes for the anime. This is mostly for the reasons I noted above and it is influenced by preferences and audience.
Intendet audience is probably young male readers around 14-17 years, but it might also adhere towards some female readers of the same age. If you can not cope with silly nonsense and a comedy that constantly draws on ecchi tropes and jokes you are not its right audience,

Konosuba is a comedy show, that is concentrated on its ecchi and harem comedy while neglecting most other aspects that could make it more appealing. It therefore either is to your taste or not depending on your assesment of the comedy.
