Pluto is about artificial intelligence at its core and takes a rather unique approach on the topic.

The main character is the super-robot "Gesicht". Him being an AI doesn't really seem to matter at all at the start, besides the superpowers. Not what I expected at first, but ended up becoming relevant more and more over the course of the story.

The setting is a futuristic Europe, some years after it has won the "39th Central Asian War". Artificial intelligence is on a high level, widely accepted, and AIs have something along the lines of human rights as well.
Despite Gesicht being a Europol investigator, it is not ...

When it comes to manga, urasawa never disappoints. Whether it comes to storywriting, his art or even creating interesting three dimensional characters, he's one of the best. Pluto is no exception.

As someone who is only vaguely familiar with the astroboy series, this manga was still extremely enjoyable. I think the author manages to subtly explain the overall astroboy universe without being so "in your face" about it which I liked.

The art is beautiful, when it comes to drawing people, he's one of the best mangakas out there. He sometimes same-faces between series but rarely within the same manga which is impresive considering even the most ...

tl;dr: A pretty solid mystery dragged into having terrible pacing by shallow exploration of sci-fi themes.

Pluto is a reasonably grounded sci-fi thriller that follows the worlds most talented robot detective, Gesicht, as he searches for a trail to a serial killer who seems to have the goal of killing eight of the world’s most advanced robots. It was mainly authored by Urasawa Naoki who is well known for other mystery filled thrillers. It was created under the supervision of Tekuza Productions, the legacy of Tezuka Osamu, who was the creator behind a number of influential franchises including Tetsuwan Atom, which was known as Astro Boy ...

Well, Its Urasawa after all. It's still classy, engaging and enduring, and beautifully illustrated. Yet the story and plot not fit in each other and certainly Urasawa's work not fitting into only 65 chapters. That's why the last 2-3 volume work is rushed heavily and this rushing kinda makes first 30-35 chapter value act pointless. Most of the character roster turns out to be metaphysical tools to use (many origins of many Deus ex ).

So there ain't room enough to care about the plot, the characters, or the history that shaped this very world of Pluto.

Proper prioritization of the plot is the most lacking ...

One of those bingeworthy stories.

We follow the story of Gesicht, a robot police detective in a futuristic society, trying to crack the case of a robot that's killing the most powerful robots on planet earth one by one; while being part of said group of robots.

First time reading with this author and what was promised, delivered. Those thriller stories that get you invested in this new world, instantly getting presented with a protagonist that feels interesting, but fresh too.

Story 9/10
Hatred, it's such a human concept that's present in every facet of the world, it's part of humanity, the constant reminder that we aren't perfect, this ...

Again, Urasawa has triumphed with a job full of mystery and much suspense. A short but decisive manga, although in my opinion it is too short, I am used to the mangaka giving us a slightly longer job. Despite not being the best I have read about him so far, he far exceeds many others and deserves a reading.

In addition, Pluto pays tribute to one of the most famous stories of one of Osamu Tezuka's most famous comics.

This manga deserves a reading. If you have never read any work by the author whom, luckily or unfortunately, I have so magnified, you should start with this ...

Pluto is a mystery manga series written by Naoki Urasawa and illustrated by Takashi Nagasaki. It is a reimagining of Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, focusing on the story of Gesicht, a robot detective who investigates the mysterious deaths of seven other robots.

The manga is set in a future where robots are commonplace and have been granted equal rights to humans. However, when a series of robot murders rocks the world, Gesicht is tasked with finding the culprit. As he investigates, Gesicht uncovers a dark conspiracy that threatens to ignite a war between humans and robots.

Pluto is a masterfully crafted manga that combines elements of mystery, ...

Pluto is a story of pain, hatred, and what it means to be human; as science fiction goes, it isn't exactly groundbreaking, but it is very good at what it does.

The story is deliciously mysterious, with great ploting, taking us from one twist to the next, and one turn to another; it never gives the reader whiplash, though, since the pacing stays consistent (and good) throughout. The themes are nicely explored, with sometimes heavy happenings, always grave but never melodramatic. This heaviness can get somewhat overbearing, though, as there isn't any moment of respite: no humor, no lightness, no narrative glimmer of hope.

The characters are ...

Pluto is a gripping and transportive piece of Sci-Fi. [Spoiler-Free Review]

Coming from a cinephile turned manga fan, I'm extremely pleased with how masterfully Pluto was written and illustrated. From the jaw-droppingly transportive cityscapes, to the exhilarating action scenes, Naoki Urasawa's Pluto gives you an experience like you're watching a nail-bit·er of a murder mystery film unfold. And personally, I was completely absorbed from the moment I began reading Volume 001.

Unfortunately, I didn't grow up watching / reading Astro Boy, so I wasn't familiar with "The Greatest Robot on Earth" arc that Pluto was based on, BUT this also meant that I was lucky enough to ...

this manga series is just so good! SO GOOD! i just loved every part of this. the little bit of plot twist at the end is something i didn't expect but it made sense. the plot itself is not very long but it's deep and complex and the emotions this series brought just hit so hard. the characters' personalities are realistic. either humans and robots, they perfectly represented the diiferent human emotions in reality. the ending is very straight to the point, with no unnecessary scenes. i do think that 8 volumes are just enough for the plot, not too long and not too short ...

I may have to change my top 3 mangas. Coz holy shit this was bloody awesome. I love both the writers, Osamu and Urasawa so I was really hyped. Volume 1 was probably one of the best openings and the ending... Jesus its good. I wasn't really 'impacted' by it but I dont give two shits about it. Probably the most perfect and flawless manga ever created by one of the greatest artists of all time- Naoki Urasawa.
Everything just hits. In a span of 65 chapters is does things which long running mangas could only dream of. Kinda said that I didnt read it before. ...

Pluto Review. Originally disappointed after finishing Monster I expected this series to not live up to Naoki Ursawa's hype but amazingly...

I was right.

Pluto is a sci fi series set in about 200 years in the future give or take. Everyone is driving cool cars, lives in cool buildings and have holograms and robots at there service. The series kicks off with a murder. Someone murdered a robot and our main character needs to find out who is doing and exactly who is capable of pulling this off.

As you'd except from a series with robots they ask the questions like what is a robot what ...

PLUTO is the perfect collaboration between Urasawa and Tezuka, as it basically touted on the covers of the entire 8-volume series.

Urasawa crafts a signature work that shows his style of suspenseful storytelling, while at the same time updating the original Tezuka Astro Boy story of "The Greatest Robot on Earth" for a modern, mature, and more cynical audience. More than that, it's a love letter to Tezuka the "God of Manga", exploring themes present in his expansive bibliography.

Regarding the themes, I do not purport myself a Tezuka scholar. In fact, I'm only familiar with a handful of his works, which I should remedy as definitive ...

Mixed Feelings
I used to think classic works were not so generic, perhaps my perception was wrong. As I came across Pluto’s ending it sure felt generic.

Anyway, to start, the first 2 volumes were really great, I was so invested in it but after that somewhere along the way I couldn’t find the same enjoyment & wanted to finish it as soon as possible. The anti robot religious group had potential but wasted it very hilariously. And what happened to Adolf and his family afterwards? They just left him alone or what?
Why did Gesicht have so much hatred? Why was his memory erased? So many ...
