Ichiru Mizunuma is the student council president at the prestigious Ichimatsu High School. Shockingly, he is stabbed by fellow student and council vice president Kyousuke Hino. What is Kyousuke's motive? What is the badly injured Ichiru's secret plan?
Alright i really have to do this judging on the score it got and other reviewers reviews. Don't jump of conclusions to early i got my reasons to gave it this score. Its actually 9 in my books, but after memoring about the Art it had and the last few chapters, its climax, its definitely has to be 10.
Now why i gave it a 10? I gave 10 to only series which either are 10 because they deserve that, pure content like Kingdom and 20th Century boys or either because i enjoyed them thoughly and had to be a ittle bias towards them like
Dont fool by the ratings it got. Just like if something which you knew is good but get the ratings at leas what you expected, don't know why, same ase scenario. Like Naruto actually got higher ratings than this like seriously?! Its definitely one of the great mangas and has to be at least 9 even if you're a strict critique. Here are few of the REASONS why you need to hop on to it:-
The first thing is Art and oh boy won't you love that. Its absolute gorgeous like sketch drawing by some high level artist. Its absolute gorgeous.
Second comes how's the Story and the level of enjoyment. I could assure to that just reading only 4 chapters, yes a mere 4 chapters, you'd like "Wow". That would the only thing thing to come outta your mouth and the excitement doesn't just stop there it got better.. And better.
One thing for sure if you loved Light's character from Death Note not on how villainous he was well some would argue, But how smart and intelligent he was you would definitely gonna love this manga's main protagonist. He's a hell of a Smartass.
This Manga would always put you on the edge, so many goddamn twists and turns, omg its breathtaking. You'd always want to read more and more but on other side would also think it shouldn't be over too quickly.
Although being a short manga of just about 70 chapters there is also Character Development. One thing for sure and i could be 200% certain no matter how much of a strict critique you're, you'd still rate this at least 9. Just alone on the the enjoyment factor you'd and how much good it really was. If it ever got to be adapted into an anime it would definitely blow up the industry away.
"Billion Dogs" with title like that what can you expect? Well, try to read on.
It's a very straightforward series. There's 3 billion being hidden by the mafia, and it's up to our main character to find them in a grand heist story. It's a very tightly paced series where every chapter is dedicated to moves the plot to that direction without much twisting about it. there's spying, hacking, treasure hunting that you could expect from this kind of series.
The art is very crisp and clean with a more realistic style of drawing that fits what the series is trying to do, the panel
flows clearly from one scene to another without being confusing, and i think the artist also excels at capturing the character's emotion.
Let's talk about our 3 main characters, firstly we got "Ichiru Mizunuma" dude have father and superiority complex. Then we have "Kyousuke Hino" the more reckless and "can't tell a lie" type of person, and then we have "Ayaha" the........buttmonkey i guess? Other than that we have the evil mafia members, evil cult, and bunch of woman characters that are drawn just to bump uglies with the villain. I would say the characters are the weakest part of this series but they all served fine in their own roles, and that's the most important part.
With that all being said, i'm definitely not bored by this series. It have a simple charms to it, kinda like watching a thriller hollywood action films. If you find that kinda blockbuster popcorn flicks to be your style, this is a series that delivers on that front.
Look, I'm not a fan of the saying 'I'll try to keep this review spoiler free!'. What you see is what you get. With that outta the way, let's dive in, shall we?
Story - 6
The story? It opens with someone getting stabbed. That's attention grabbing, gaddamit!!!!! Plot twist: It's just a prank. WHAT A JOKE!!!!! Someone give those 2 boys (the stabbed and stabber) some ass-whooping yo. Well, everything gets into motion from then on. At the end of the first chapter, you already start noticing the kinda person the MC is. This manga explores how shitty and greedy humans can be (in a lame
way I must say).
Art - 8
Most impressive part of this manga to be honest. It's clean and detailed. You will definitely not find a problem with the art except you're partially or completely blind. Peep at Biohazard mangas for more of this artists' works!!! Damn, I was almost certain the artist for Roppongi Black Cross did this but I was mistaken.
Character - 6
You got Mr. Handsome with a father complex, the best friend who does all the hardwork, you got the dumb and annoying female who's an idiot just to be in the plot for nothing (Character unlock: Chapter 8!!!), you got the father of the MC whose backstory makes him more relevant in the story than the MC himself. Who else am I missing? No one else is relevant. Don't worry my dear reader of this review, you'll thank me later for the way I capped this. By the way, the only relevant female character in this manga shares a funny ass past with the MC. It's sad what happened to homeboy (the MC) after that. LMAO Someone please give homeboy some milk!!!!
Enjoyment - 6
Started off decent (or so you'd like to think) but became lacklustre real quick. Turns from deliquence to investigative to treasure hunt too quick and you're at chapter 68. I know I said I don't care for spoilers but I'll act right for the people who do. There comes a time when the treasure hunt reaches the climax and you'd think choosing between A or B in this ridiculously fast-paced manga should be quick, but what happens? Homeboy becomes undecisive at the worst moment and it's dragged on a few more pages than required. You're left like 'Bruh!!!'. Well it does work out to fit the plot I guess.
Overall - 6
This is a quick read SO FOR THOSE WHO AIN'T STARTED THIS YET, WAIT TILL IT'S DONE!!! That's my best advice. Even from its short pages on some chapters, you'll know this is something you can breeze through. I know this because I finished 68 chapters in no more than an hour. It's decent at most. The best score I can see this ever getting is a 7 and nothing more. I'd be surprised if there's still any relevant plot left to be revealed as at chapter 68.
P.S. Money really does make the world go round, doesn't it? Who with me? Nobody, no? You don't think so? Okay, I'll keep quiet now.
