Extremely similar premise (see the other recommendation for more info) and it's about characters going through despair and finding the one they love/care about.

Both manga feature a 'caste' system in their respective schools - the hierarchy of which is determined by the games you play, and how you fare at those games. There's a 'king', who's a lying and manipulative bastard. He holds on to his dear position, but is obviously dethroned by the most unexpected candidate. In both the manga, the teachers are either ignorant of what happens right in front of them, or for some God damn reason (which obviously isn't explained) allow all the bullying and harassment to happen. Nobody knows who started the game or why, and everybody's stupid enough to just play along, instead  read more

Both manga are set in a boarding school, with a "King" figure who controls the school from behind the scenes. The main characters are both orphans, a little naive, and too kind. There are secrets in the main characters' pasts that explain why they are attending their respective schools under the protection of a guardian. The artwork in both manga are very beautiful.

Simillarities: Same author, simillar character types, unpredictable plot-twists, simillar relationships The biggest differences lie on the setting, the chapter number (always remember that this manga was planned to be longer but it had to be shorten by the editor's request, so please, don't blame the mangaka for the end) and the really fast-paced end. Bloody Mary is a great manga to read after Torikago Syndrome. And I'd recommend Torikago Syndrome to any Bloody Mary readers as well. Torikago Syndrome and Bloody Mary are the closest works Samamiya Akaza worked on.

The plots are different. Number has elements of fantasy/supernatural, where TS is more about high school students playing mind-games, however, I feel that the themes, art and scenes are similar. Both have dark undertones within the plot; suffering with one's self and facing their fears. Another similarity is the art; amazing clean lines, crisp shading, attractive character designs and panel layouts. They also have similar genres, that being "Psychological" and "bromance" (or shounen-ai), which stand out the most. I get the same "feeling" whilst reading both and instantly thought of Number after reading TS.
