Both deal with themes of moving on, unfulfilled dreams, and the dreariness of life.  

Similairites: + Both written by Asano Inio and have beautiful artwork + Tell tragic yet realistic stories of people who want life to be a little better and easier + One of the earlier stories in Subarashii Sekai is about college-age students struggling between the decision of whether to be musicians or not which is very much like the story of Solanin Difference: - Subarashii Sekai is many different stories with only a little connection between them while Solanin is just one story about a group of friends 

They are a compilation of realistic stories in which people have tough times. Both mangas include sad stories, hard scenes and some serious critiques of modern Japanese society. While Asano Inio complains about the hard times that young people must face during a economic crisis, or just because of bad luck, Shun Umezawa uses his manga to criticize more aspects of the Japanese, for instance the racism towards foreigners or their worries of their appearance. 

Similarities: + Both written by Asano Inio as well as amazing artwork + Similar depressing, yet realistic and motivational stories about the lives of many different people and how they all want similar things in life Difference: - Nijigahara Holograph is much more psychological and has a bit more of a connected story going between it's characters
