It’s easy to forget how good and enjoyable a simplistic and rational/normal main character can be due to how many idiotic, pathetic, oblivious, or edgy main characters in stories that have filled the scene to farm engagement. Of course, this story does a nice and traditional isekai story well with a really likable main cast due to how good-natured they are while not being too boring.
The plot of this manga is rather simplistic with how it follows the basic guideline of a typical “transported into a game” genre, but it differs greatly due to how the trope was incorporated into the story. Instead of
...
the mc being an insufferable and grinding know-it-all, the mc makes the plot focused on his self-betterment and the traditional heroic story that is usually avoided in the genre.
The mc, as noted before, is good-natured and sort of child-like with his aspirations; this causes him to be absurdly likable and somewhat idealistic and realistic, since not everyone in the manga world or real world wants vengeance or ill-wishes on others.
As for the side characters — this is a bit of a preliminary impression — but they have been well grounded and introduced into the story by being cliche at times but orderly into each plot development. Through them, the mc is exemplified in his nature, and the side characters also are a bit of the “feel good” characters that you love to read as a guilty pleasure or something wholesome.
There are other minute descriptions on how they are used as world-building and potential plot points, as they have already gone through some form of character development in the initial chapters, but I won’t get into that.
Call it how you will, but this story is just a really wholesome and heroic take on the whole “transported into a game” trope that has been washed and filled with “unique but sort of unlikable” main characters.
Preliminary? Maybe. Is this gold? Absolutely.
You guys know this is just my opinion, right?
