It's so bad that it's good. The entire plot revolves around a single question, why is the female lead dating MC's best friend, even though she's head over heels for the MC? I want to know so I keep reading this trash. Honestly, this manga is like edging for 10 hours straight without getting release at the end.

Enter your cliché misunderstandings that make you feel anxious and angry, except they get resolved quickly making them just tolerable enough for you not to drop this manga, the mysterious backgrounds and traumas of the group the MC hangs out with, that get endlessly teased and dismissed with ... "lol jk"'s, the weird stares that MC's best friend gives him from time to time that make him look like a serial killer, and you get this abomination that makes you want to press that "next chapter" button.

I honestly hope that Takt, MC's best friend, ends up being the freaking Zodiac Killer or something that will blow my mind, but given how shitty this manga is I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a parody and for the author to reveal the most underwhelming secret ever at the end, just to piss off his readers. Why a parody? Because if you think of a romance manga cliché, then you 100% have it in this manga. But surprisingly these clichés are strung along nicely and are over quickly, so quickly that you might as well not consciously notice them at all. This makes me suspect that the author is trolling by trying to create an interesting story out of all the clichés of the genre, just to give us the worst ending possible and then tell us "Look back at the previous chapters, how the heck did you expect something good to come out of this, idiots."

Anyways, 7/10 is just a random rating, mostly chosen by me because the art is decent. I don't know how to rate this because objectively speaking it all depends on what the mystery is. And the manga is obviously interesting enough for me to want to find out. If it ends up being something mind-blowing, then this is a 7/10, if it's the most underwhelming thing ever then this is a 10/10 masterpiece since I and everyone else reading this got trolled by the author. But it has to be so underwhelming that it'll make me really mad.

That's about it.

If ever there were a 6/10 manga, this is it.

It's not a particularly good story but it's good enough to keep you reading for a while.

Same goes for the art though it's slightly better than the story itself, particularly if you're a fan of gratuitous fan service.

Mind you, it's a promising premise for a manga, and the 3 main characters are relatively interesting, at least at first.

The problem is that everything and everyone in the manga loses whatever charm it had over time, especially when the some of secrets teased throughout the story are finally revealed--and some of the secrets (none of which were particularly ... good to begin with) are just ignored when the story ends.

Likewise, new characters and back stories show up mostly just to fill up the pages--like the rest of the story, they're just good enough to keep you reading.

It's a shame, too, because, for the most part, the characters are neither incels nor sociopaths, which you can't say of a lot of romance manga.

Then, somehow, the final chapter is disappointing and forgettable.

You could skip the last chapter, and the manga would be just a tad bit better though, to be fair, that goes for most chapters of the manga.

Easily one of the worst things I've ever had the misfortune of reading. Honestly, this manga tries to be something deep but falls before it can even stand upright.

There are misunderstandings, and there's whatever this is. "His Girlfriend" does the absolute most to try and justify the mess that occurs inside of it, all while hiding any proof that such an inconsistent blob existed beneath it.

Characters have backstories but provide little evidence that it changed the way they think or act, and only serve to line up to the story's current progression to make sure there are no holes in the story (spoiler alert: ... there are many.) The shocking lack of common sense or even human nature is a treat in itself. Even the only good character in this series is used simply for eye candy instead of having a proper conclusion or involvement in the story. From the very beginning till the final chapter, she's a sub ship for the MC and just... exists.

The plot abuses misunderstandings whenever possible, and tops it all off with a nice layer of miscommunication. There's no reason any of the story should have occurred beyond early chapters if any of the characters cared to be truthful or just speak their thoughts. Children are irrational, highschoolers have thoughts.

Honestly? The art is really great. That alone puts this at a solid 4 instead of a 3.
