A sweet, hilarious, relaxing story of 4 art students.
At the first glance you'll probably smell the same scent as K-On!: the live of some girls with a slight hint of yuri, 4-koma, and rarely shows any boys. Well, up to that point, it is the same. But nevermind those, this manga is really good.
The special one about this manga is its humor, which never gets old, and always makes me laugh whenever I re-read it. Just take your time, relax, find a good position, start reading, and you're welcomed to laugh your ass out. The humor is definitely something; I never found a manga with
...
everlasting humor like this (I mean the humor never gets boring and there are always enough humor for every volumes) besides One Piece. Most of normal mangas will soon have their humors expire and it changed with more serious events. But Hidamari Sketch didn't let me down. Every jokes is awesome. Please don't end the humor, please.
And another thing that impressed me well is.... I never knew that 4-koma manga would be this entertaining. The author sure really knows how to distribute one short story into 4 panels, and that never gets weird or awkward. Instead, the pace is unbelievably being kept up well, later stories still have some connections to older stories, and the story really ended well in just 4-koma (and with cool gags). It's awesome. Really.
Let's take a look at the story... some usual slice of life, but still good and enjoyable. The characters are also standing out. We have the cute, innocent little girl as our main character, a manly but smart and a feminine, momlike senpais, then a super-energetic yet unbelievably talented moodmaker. Later on a blunt and honest girl with a timid, typical girlish ojou-chan come and join the story. The characters and their traits are well-done indeed, succeeded to leave impressions to the readers.
You wouldn't want to expect something serious, thrilling, and mindfcking storyline and plot in Hidamari Sketch. But you'll find some stupid, funny, and cute moments in this manga.
