I like how down to earth the romance in this manga are. Every character have it flaws. It may be lack the fantasy aspect from Tamaki's last work, TWGOK. But since now I'm an adult with much more experience, I can say that I prefer the characters in this manga more than TWGOK.
Our main characters, Rika and Takuya both are inexperience in love, yet both of them pretends to have marriage because of job reason. Will they keep pretending? Will they succeed? And as the title says, 𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘎𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥?
It may depends on your perspective, but personally I like flawed characters more.

‘Are We Really Getting Married’ aims to portray a semi-realistic romance wrapped inside a wholesomely unrealistic premise. And while it can be argued that, in fact, it does pull off that ‘realistic romance’ vibes, it does so at the expense of almost everything else, but namely entertainment. Contrary to what the high minds might think, there is a good reason why ‘realistic romances’ rarely, if ever, blossom into anything more than niche past times. Even some of the most fanfare-inducing ones, like 500 Days of Summer, aren’t really ‘realistic’, just grounded.
There is really just no simple way about my final conclusion after 35 chapters of ... Dec 24, 2020
It's fun, characters are pretty, and the story as a whole is pretty bubbly. This is a really down to earth manga, so don't go expecting a lot from it.
All in all, I really liked it. It's not like I'm waiting every week for the chapter to drop, but It's a nice surprise when I see that a new chapter was released. Also, the story pace is really "realistic" to say the least. I mean, we, the readers, can predict what's going to happen because we are given the whole story before our eyes, unlike the characters who only see their part. That being said, it's ... May 5, 2021
Just a quick summary and review: The two main characters end up in a fake marriage, and they have to lie about it while facing their own feelings and also some sort of "antagonist" that knows about this whole setup.
The plot involves a lot at once, so the pacing is pretty fast but at times the thoughts of the characters can be a bit scattered. I felt that I had to fill in a few holes myself. Honestly, though, the two main leads are adorably awkward enough that I didn't care too much about that. Art is one of its stronger aspects, but it ... Oct 2, 2024
This manga is perfect if you just want to read a funny romance without much drama.
First of all, the art is very nice and simple, it fits the mangas atmosphere perfect. The story begins with a fake marriage and ends up (SPOILER!!!!!!) in a relationship heading towards a real wedding. It's funny, it's cute, very little drama but nothing too serious, perfect to just enjoy. It takes place in the work life, what is a nice change from the typical school life rom coms. The characters are likeable but sometimes they do not act very realistic (what do ... Apr 13, 2024
The topic of when two people decide to do a fake relationship/wedding/marriage has been around quite a lot. However, here we have two people who value their peace of mind and want to keep it.
For my part, I liked the character development. However, what bothered me at times was at some points it felt like the author stepped on the brake and set their relationship back a bit to get it going again. In some cases he skipped ahead a big chunk. But it didn't completely ruin the overall impression for me. The side characters weren't annoying and moved the story forward. The artwork made them ... |
