Synopsis

Kosuke is killed by a truck, his soul is lost in a garden with two beautiful girls. The owner of the place will let him choose whether he will be reborn or summoned to another world, and he maintains the summons. In this new world, the main two girls who were created by the owner of the garden to help him find the mystery behind the world: a dungeon tower. Will he be able to become the owner of this tower and manage it?

This series basically follow an overpowered protagonist that has to maintain a dungeon tower, together with some overpowered subordinates. I personally love the story developments this one, because things slowly grow in scale as the existence of his dungeon tower garner more and more attention (mainly politically). The romance especially, is really wholesome (and lewd). The relationships between the protagonist and the heroines are adorable with ero-scenes here and there. The protagonist goes quite far in helping different heroines with their issues, the heroines also work towards supporting the protagonist in every way they can as well. This is a story that honestly started out pretty great (or at least was entertaining), but has become increasingly bland and homogeneous the longer it goes on - which is a real shame, because it has some really cool worldbuilding going on. Unfortunately the story loves going into repetitive and boring chapter-length exposition tangents about creature evolution that add little value to the overarching plot and exist for the sake of existing, which kills the flow from time to time and leaves you feeling frustrated, because all that time and mangaka effort could have been spent on things that actually matter. Like the god related ... plots or more politics developments stemming from the emergence of what is effectively a new country, rather than the MCs latest experiments in getting goblins and fox pokemon to evolve into the next stage.

As far as the character cast goes, unfortunately the saying 'less is more' applies completely to this manga - it was a honestly fun and pleasant read while it was just the main guy and the two main girls whom started the journey together with him. They played well off each other and had distinct personalities (as in, the two girls - unfortunately the guy has absolutely zero personality traits of any kind, which is one of the bigger issues of the story that honestly became noticeable very early. You can't even tell why he is doing any of the things he is doing, because he is not driven by any inherent personality traits or quirks - of which he has none, save passivity - but by the plot demanding he has to do a random thing X today for the story to progress) and the group dynamics were fun to observe. The vampire and priestess were decent additions, I suppose, and the later actually ties into the story themes pretty well.

Unfortunately the story kept introducing more and more harem members (we are up to 8 or so actively involved with the MC, and about half a dozen more just waiting in the wings), which has lead to a complete personality homogenization between them and an absolute lack of meaningful screentime for most of them. By this point all girls feels literally the same and have just about the same dynamics for interacting with the MC and each other, and the one personality trait they share between them is that they are hot and bothered for the MC and all want to have his children (yes, really). There's no reason for most of them to be there, and it shows. The characterization and relationships could have been much better and more meaningful if it had stuck with the first two girls (and the priestess for story and plot relevance), rather than shoveling more and more harem members into the MCs bed - you can't even really tell why the MC keeps sleeping with more and more them (or why the first two are ok with this, considering how otherwise biblically protective they are of the MC), considering his absolutely passive personality and seemingly zero drive to initiate anything on his own.

And that's unfortunately where we are now - an increasingly growing harem with decreasing amounts of personality and individuality for any of its members, and an arguably interesting plot that keeps periodically being interrupted by an absolute deluge of worthless, obnoxiously detailed trivia about monster evolution experiments and tower floor swapping that have no importance or relevance whatsoever in the large scheme of things. The overarching plot about gods and politics is still interesting, but the increasingly bland characterization and irrelevance of the ever-growing harem, coupled with the MC's own lack of personality, keeps dragging it further and further down from the very pleasant experience it was at the start.

Yet another harem story where the mc is a herbivore who only passively stays and gets all the action from the girls around him. Let's see, where do we start?

For some reason the 2 maids he gets end up falling for him and wanna sleep with him and up to that point I can understand if he was a passive guy, but after having that experience, a couple more end up joining him and they also fall for him and also end up wanting to sleep with him, but he keeps resisting every time it happens, even though he does want to and he's gotten ... the "go ahead" from his main 2 girls. Of course I'm not saying it's bad that he wanted to ascertain the other women's feelings first so they don't do something they're forcing themselves to do, but acting all flustered after having slept with women before seems like a very annoying character trait, that is waaaay too pervasive in romance manga for example. I can count on my fingers the manga where the MC is an actual person.

The other thing that I wanna talk about is how, for some reason these women love him, yet he's yet to be shown going out on his own to them and initiating anything. It's like he's slept with them once and lost interest in them. I'm not talking about him going out of his way to go to them to ask them about things he's working on, I'm talking about spending time with them and flirting and talking about each other - things that people do in relationships (even if this one is a 8-way relationship). He's also not yet been shown initiating any intercourse with them even after the time he did it with each of them for the first time and with the constant a-couple-month time skips here and there I start to question the MC's manhood. Either these events were skipped or he really acts like how we see in the story even off-screen. Either way, this makes the story very stupid. Even if it doesn't have the romance tag, the women around him clearly do love him and did end up sleeping with him, so I'm not sure why the author didn't develop the romance, it's like those scenes were thrown there for the sake of it, either commit to developing the romance, or give up and just do things behind the readers' eyes like Isekai Nonbiri Nouka did. Without that it literally looks like all those sexual scenes were added to attract readers, yet without continuing to make those scenes they wouldn't stick.

It's literally written like a self-insert power fantasy where for some reason even if you don't show affection to the women in your harem, they still love you. In essence it feels similar to Isekai Nonbiri Nouka, but at least with that story, the romance was pushed out entirely and the story was solely focused on expanding the village, here we have a little bit of both, but it's not developed well at all.

For a way better harem story, I'd recommend Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni, at least the women there actually got jealous and even told the MC straight up that he's not spending time with them and that makes them all sulky, and the MC actually tried there. Another one is Maou ni natta node, dungeon tsukutte jingai musume to honobono suru.
